What's so sad is, even though I am not like, 'digging' this -- I can tell he's MINDBLOWINGLY good and this is creative as hell.
Haters gon' hate. But every now and then even a 'hater' like myself will show love for quality. Seriously -- this dude is shredding in his own way and it's NASTY. Respect.
Great example on no matter how fast or tricky you play, it is terrible to listen to if the basics are not there. I'd rather listen my 7-year nephew sing, atleast it sounds musical.
Wow everyone is a freaking music critic in youtube. The guy played his own version of the song, 8 finger tapped style nontheless, with a more laid back feel and slightly altered backing track.Yes the timing seemed off in some parts but so what? Most of you cant even play like that in your sleep let alone live and yet you have the balls to critisize. You wanted a copy of timmons but he played his unique version.Thats why he is a musician and you ..wannabe rockers...lol.
@Dreamdancer11 thanks a lot for you comment and you patience for explaining and understanding the real point of the question: i just wanna give my way to play the amazing andy's song!!! thank you!!!
@Alab2007 No problem mate.I really enjoyed it plus i started working on this technique a few weeks ago and i know first hand how difficult it is to achieve good tone playing that way and with a clean setting even more challenging(those right hand pull offs are hard lol)....but iam sticking to it....so thanks a lot for the inspiration.Keep it up.
@Dreamdancer11 dude the licks are sloppy nonetheless in many parts. the description says amazing two hands tapping and yet his left hand is only hammering on to chords which in my mind is not quite "amazing tapping". he could have at least written bossa nova in to the title of the video.
@Ozznize Dude if you have ever tried anything remotely close to this(and without a hairband to mute the strings) you would realise how difficult it is to do it even this..."sloppy" as you call it.He doesnt even use a lot of distortion to help the sound travel a little more. And he is playing it the stanley jordan way not using linear shredding lines with both hands which is much much easier but each hand assigned to a different task..like piano.
@Dreamdancer11 with distortion you could hear the mistakes even more. its not like i have been playing for two weeks and giving my two cents based on that. i have played for a long time. i know that this is hard but i can also hear and see that it is also far from a clean performance. if he used both hands for lead then it would be harder but it he doesnt and thus it isnt. tapping with a clean sound requires more power in legato but it also acts as a natural hairband.
@Ozznize With distortion the notes would ring easier(all the notes he didnt tapped clearly would have been flawless). The only problem is the muting but that is easily solved with a hairband. This guy chose the hard way.And you are wrong playing linear two handed shredding stuff is way easier than combining chordal stuff with soloing..switching between hands.if you really play you would know that with that tone and that style and that type of guitar its almost imposible to get better results.
@Dreamdancer11 i believe that hairbands belong to bad players since it is very much possible to mute excess noise with your hands alone. i also think that both hands playing lead is harder then using the other hand for rhythm. i have much less trouble doing rhythm and lead. with that tone, style and guitar it is possible to achieve better results. you speak like this is the ultimate peak of this style and cant be done better. im sure you dont think like that.
@Ozznize i disagree to everything you say and especially about hairbands.Even monster players like Guthrie govan(please tell me he is a bad player i need a good laugh) use them in some situations.Especially in 8 finger tapping when all fingers fly above the fretboard and there is virtually nothing left to mute the strings. So please post a video response using this tone to play this tune ,this way, better than this guy...since its fairly easy or else there is no point for theories.
@Dreamdancer11 do you really believe that this is the best 8 finger tapping video out there? i sure as hell dont. you can defend it as much as you want but this is not clean and far from perfect. hairbands are not needed when you play with a clean tone. distortion is a whole other thing which is not related to this. you have an abnormal fetish for hairbands you know that?
@Ozznize This is not the best 8 finger tapping video and definately not the worst. Its a really really decent effort(still waiting for your take-dont be shy).Hairbands are not needed 90 percent of the time with either clean or distorted tone .But go to a studio, record a perfectly good take only to realize it was destroyed by a little extra noise.A little humble hairband saves you time and money. The pros dont seem to mind. But what do they really know right?
@Dreamdancer11 being in a studio doesnt change how you play at all and this means if you are good you are good but in case you a bad and go to the studio guess what you are still bad. and as it happens to be there is a chris broderick video in the related videos of him doing 8 finger tapping without hairbands while he uses distortion. and guthrie govan is one of the best guitar players around right now do i approve when he uses a hairband ? hairbands are used by lazy people
@Ozznize Guitar is not a sport mate. Its about making music. So you can use whatever tool you need in the process.People with flawless tech use hairbands from time to time.Guthrie is the ultimate example. He has every technique down for 8 finger tapping to hybrid picking he can play perfectly without one but he is not a PRETENCIOUS SNOB either. He uses it when he wants to save time(and money). If we accept your point of view...why use also a capo....or guitar effects or an amplifier for that matter.
@Ozznize guess what? i would seriously doubt guthrie govan cares if you approve of his using a hairband or not. its just a tool..greg howe and plenty of guys use it. keep in mind brodericks approach of 8 finger tapping is quite different than guthries general approach anyway.
Yet this version is more jazzy i'd say... Andy's version souds much more aggresive and those bends and all the picked notes + distorsion sound great for my ears.
Thou i'm not considering u didn't do a hell of a good job :)
You are lightyears beyond everything I ever could play... and yet... on a couple of parts you are out of time és a bunch of notes are not audible. A pity for that. But amazing, nevertheless.
buena tecnica de tapping a 2 manos sobre todo porque es dificil de dominar debio requerir mucho tiempo en ella, a pensado en tocar el chapman stick ? seguro que le sacaria un gran partido a ese instrumento.
