Im trying to get Vista on my Mac using Virtual Box. I have a windows vista dvd but when i try and instal the operating system there are no iso files on my dvd which virtual box needs to boot the operating system!? So my virtual box is failing (Error: No bootable medium found! System halt!) Anyone know where the disk image/iso file is? Im not very technical, sorry.
@hatchetman664 you need to check the log file (VB>Machine>Show Log) to find the directory that is failing for me it was /Applications.
Then you need to change the ownership of that directory using sudo in Terminal. WARNING: YOU CAN EASILY BREAK YOUR OSX INSTALL IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING WITH SUDO COMMANDS.
For me the magic solution was...
sudo chown root /Applications
...in Terminal. But I warn you again, don't do this ulness you're sure you know what you're doing!
@webkinzcrazers Course you can get loads on a mac, just look at the apple website! It's got thousands of apps and most games have a mac downloadable version. If not, just run Winebottler and run the .exe file on that which lets you run windows apps on your mac. Mac's in my opinion: less virus prone and quicker, smoother and one thing for sure: Windows computers (I've seen in my school and friends) take ages to set up, on a Mac you just log in and everything's there, now that's what I call better
@AlexAndArtemis I prefer Windows after I've had Mac 1 year.. It's an old model from 2008 I think, a Macbook 15'' by the way. It's ok, It's good for web searching, editing, music, videos, and all that stuff. Gaming? Hell no. Worst I've seen. I've now Installed Windows 7 on my Macbook after failing at bootcamp. Im now using VirtualBox it's a very genius made program. Well I'm just into gaming as you know. I really hope that Mac some day can support Windows app's. Like .exe files. Don't you agree?
@BwuuK yes I do lol, I'm not into gaming reallly :S most games are windows .exe files so I know windows will be better for gaming but speed im not sure... but mac is fantastic at the stuff you said it is and virtualbox is a good idea for gaming aswell, and I too hope that mac will carry windows apps but that's never going to happen because mac isn't windows, but there is a lot of similar apps to the ones on windows we have yet to find.
