  • Aaron,,this is easily one of my favorite videos on youtube. It is unfortunate to read some of the misunderstandings and mindlocks people display here in the comments section

  • very nice!

  • This video should be mandatory in school, once a year, every year...

  • Love the concept of this video. But the "Evolution vs Creationism" is one of those things that doesn't belong in this video. We are an evolved species that was created. And yes there is such thing as genuine authentic truth. In this particular time configuration, in this dimension, there are valid truths, which apply to this particular reality. Yes, in other realities, the truth changes, but that's irrelavent. We are currently a "creation" by reptilian cultures, who dominate this reality.

  • This video makes me want to kill!

  • @420PATROCK don't do it! inspiring murderers was never my intention!

  • @saydaysago2008 Just kidding! lol Jesus saves satans slaves

  • But if you have a twisted ankle, it would be unwise to pass one up. Be forever openminded, in every way. Religious people should be open to the errors of their ways, people with no religion should be as well. If anything--we should be tolerant.

And that is my random rant lol.

I will say--I'm a religious person, at this point in my very young life my belief system gives me purpose--something to strive towards, something to hope for.

    I don't think that's a bad thing :)

    I liked this video :)

  • something that brings you fulfilment, and happiness--and hopefully that is something that brings fulfilment and happiness to others, not pain and strife. Religion is not evil or good any more than nuclear energy is evil or good, it takes one idiot to make a mistake, and suddenly everyone is afraid of it.

They say religion is a crutch...

  • So--Genesis 1 and 2 should be read poetically, And it can even be read as a myth, that's perfectly logical in context. But you must understand the authorial intentions. It was to give man an identity, and a purpose.Science doesn't always give us purpose--it is the means by which we discover purpose, whatever that looks like to an individual. Perhaps that purpose is to discover, attain knowledge. Perhaps wisdom, perhaps love. Who knows, create your own purpose,

  • creation of man whom he said was made "in our image". (perhaps in reference to the Trinity, or God and his Angels... Up for debate--not the point) Translated properly this does not mean "looking like him" but it means "as his regents". Man was the most special creation--and was given authority and responsibility. Not just a slave race.

  • Mesopotamian story of creation. Where a younger deity rips the older in half, using the carcass to create/separate the "heavens and the earth" and using the blood to create humans as a slave race. We think in facts and science--we want to know why. The authors of genesis 1 and 2 wanted to explain *who*. They wrote of a deity who created the earth specifically and with care-using his words to speak things into existence (so out of himself, not with violence) calling it good--ending with the crea

  • Whoa dude. To an extent I agree with you completely and passionately.

But surely you believe everything that you just said, you believe it to be fact--if not truth. Otherwise you would not have said it.

This is something you are passionate about-very obviously.

You made a direct hit to christianity which I did not appreciate. Creationism-evolution. Genesis chapter one and two are *poetry* and should not be read literally. That's silly. The author(s) of this book wrote it to counter the Mesopo

  • i support zeitgeist. not the venus project so much anymore based on my understanding.

  • Good stuff. I agree with every word and have come to the same conclusions (TZM and TVP). I *heart* science! :)

  • We still have to fight the ones in power. I like the video. I like the idea of a natural resource based economy that recycles and respects our mother earth. But WE STILL HAVE ONE LAST FIGHT. Call it a War for Peace, the fight for power, the fight for change. We will have to "fight" to get these people in power to listen to us...

  • @ccsb101 "Don't fight forces -- use them" // "You can never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” - Buckminster Fuller

  • @ccsb101 A war for peace doesn't bring a change in terms of how society functions, it simply brings a change in whom it obeys.

  • someone could write everything they say in the video, please!?

i would like to translate it, but i ain't got 'good ears' !

    C'mon everybody, c'mon someone!!!

    help other languages people, thinking!

  • Profound truth my friend. Ive been following your videos for awhile and i think you got a good head on your shoulders. Keep it up

  • @saydaysago2008

I really enjoyed the video. Could you tell me what was the movie playing during the intro?

  • @TheGhostGorilla it's from the movie 'dogma'. kind of a silly flick, but some true moments of genius. :)

  • Ideas are better than "belief"....I read this concept in a book called "Shaving the inside of your head" about 20 years ago....I'm glad it is an "idea" that is finally getting cycled around ... ;) Thx for the upload.

  • I enjoyed the video, but even more the civilized discussion between the author and "TheHeurist". If only we could be this civilized and a species, we would be allot better of. Thumbs up for both.

  • Thank you sincerely. This is my ..Understanding.. as well. All the best.

  • 2:53 There is no competition creationists (;

  • you absolutely changed my mind, thank you for this video

  • It inspired me to write an article! XD

  • FANTASTIC VIDEO -VERY ACCURATE and true - or somewhere close to it

  • I just would like to say this is the most intelligent and logical video I've ever seen.

  • Great video!

  • Please don't take me personally. I mean no affront to you.

  • I should have wrote my comments the other way around! You need to read them from the bottom up.

  • @TheHeurist no worries, lol, i read them in the right order (the order they showed up in my email box).

thanks for taking the time to put together the well thought out critiques. I always appreciate constructive criticism. I am compiling your notes right now into a word doc so I can create a proper response.

    stay tuned.

  • @TheHeurist watch?v=dVsMQzi9eWc

my response to your comments. :D

  • -The film states that understanding is enough to guide us morally (with respect to behavior). The author's evidence to support this claim contains elements that are not bounded to understanding per se, rather involve precursors such as self-awareness, empathy, feeling, and identification.

  • -The film is telling us not to believe what we understand differently than others! I had to listen to it a few times to trust my take on it! (see for yourself at 5:06). Perhaps he means that we should not believe what we understand?

  • -The film states that valid questioning can never come from belief, but only from reasoned evidence resulting in an updated understanding. Logicians and mathematicians have been reasoning from belief for a very long time.

-The film CORRECTLY tells us that we cling to previously held notions without realizing it.

  • -The film CORRECTLY maintains that we can't be afraid to question our assumptions.

-The film fails to mention intuition and its necessary appearance when speaking about assumptions.

  • -The film CORRECTLY maintains that certainty is an unattainable abstraction.

-The film misses the fact that we can, however, talk as if certainty were attainable without fallacy. (This is sometimes VERY useful.)

  • -The film falsely states that observable changes in species is due to artificial selection. The correct term is "natural selection".

-The film implies that creationism is unsupported truth whilst evolution is more likely. The truth is that both could be supported by a sound logical system.

-Truth in the film is characterized to be sort of like infinity, in that it can be approached yet never attained. Mathematicians have been dealing with multiple truths and infinities for a long time.

  • -The spectrum of truth in the film moves from black to white with varying shades of grey (in order to prevent dichotomies), yet misses the fact that truth moves in many dimensions - in shades of color.

-The film states that not a single thing or person is completely bad or completely good and misses the true intention of such phrasing: namely, that there are things that evolve us and there are things that devolve us.

  • -The film limits itself to a primitive logic of true and false. Modern logic is generations beyond this.

-The spectrum of truth in the film moves from black to white with varying shades of grey (in order to prevent dichotomies), yet misses the fact that truth moves in many dimensions - in shades of color.

  • -The film falsely states that understanding somthing can help to save us from a false dichotomy better than belief can.

-The film subtly poses the same contradiction it is trying to prevent by excluding the middle between belief and understanding.

-The film criticises absolutist thinking, yet there are instances in the U where absolutes present themselves.

  • -The film CORRECTLY speaks about aligning ourselves with new realities. I agree with this because the reality I know is directly influenced by what I am at any given moment 'tuned into'.

-The film criticizes emotion as being inadequate because it proposes that emotion is slower and more stubborn in comparison.

  • -The films wants to claim that understandings are somehow better than beliefs by attributing "understanding" with qualities superior to those of belief. This is to forget that even understanding can be staunchly dogmatized. The difference is meaningless.

-The film subjugates emotional attachment and tries to separate it from understanding thereby reducing our potential once again.

  • -Then there is the idea that everything should rather be understood as much as possible - on the surface a noble sounding approach - however in its depth is saying that primarily that which is understandable is that which most likely is. The U (Universe) has more to offer us than understanding alone can deal with. Another problem with understanding is that we are using a small part of our potential.

  • -There is also an implicit and explicit claim that having a belief is something to be avoided. This is nihilism being packaged as healthy skepticism. There are times when belief is not only useful, but even necessary.

  • I will make this as brief as possible and start with the main premise:

-+-"Believe Nothing, but understand as much as you can" whilst being very seductive, is not incorrect and not even advisable. If the main premise had been (as is also mentioned in the film); "we cannot know everything for sure ever", that would have been acceptable for me.

-The film contains a subtle blurring of the definition of belief recasting it to be synonymous with dogmatic belief.

  • Religion is not the same thing as having a Relationship with Jesus Christ. And God did create the universe, not evolution. But believe what you want. I do like most of this video.

  • @DJTmaq How do you know that god created the universe and what is a god? I just want to understand were you are coming from.

  • @stevenmarkgalway, Well the two terms "a god" in lower case G refers to any single idol such as "god of the Sun," or the "Water god" etc. And the upper case God refers to the all knowing single God. But, it does absolutely take faith to believe in God. Or any god for that matter. But I encourage you to take an educated look at Creation vs Evolution. There is not real answer to prove evolution. But there's a lot of evidence to suggest in a universal intelligent design. Still a step of faith thoh.

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!!

  • 5 people would rather that someone else was in charge of their mind!

  • PS I'm not referring to a belief system - eg a religion. I am referring to 'beliefs', as that is the subject which you may have limited..perspective wise...from this video. A religion is a large collection of beliefs. I don't follow a concrete belief sytem, and feel free..to chose..what I believe...in any moment..of the continuous now. Big Love.

  • 4 people dont understand LOL.....

  • Hi :)Beliefs are what physical reality is all about. A belief is simply a thought that you keep thinking..and a truth is a belief that you've held for a certain period of time. All are evolving and interchangeable. It's imposiible to not have beliefs..if you have a physical mind, but it's very important to choose beliefs that serve one's experience positively..and redefine the beliefs that don't.To believe in nothing..is a belief in itself. Validation of all perspectives provides better service.

  • @sachmofranklin What is a belief, really? It is impossible to be 100% sure about anything. The scientific method allows us to gain a closer approximation to how things really are, not obtain truths. To believe one knows the "truth" is a form of delusion stemming from ego. You can try and understand and learn to the best of your ability, but to hold a static belief is intrinsically invalid, and detrimental to true dynamic understanding. I am just reiterating the video... but think about it.

  • @InvertedFox

Every perspective is valid my friend. Perhaps if you re-read what I wrote, you'll notice that I'm not referring to any stasis, objective truths, or any absolute knowing. One can't truly prove anything to another, however, 'I believe' all truths are true..from every perspective..and the only constant/certainty is change - and it doesn't matter if anyone else believes *this belief* of mine/another. You can be 100 % sure on one thing though - You exist. To experience, you must be.

  • @sachmofranklin Forgive me, but I do not quite understand the point you are making here. Faith is an example of an extreme form of belief based on lack of understanding. You may believe in a flying spaghetti monster, but this is based on zero approximation or understanding of reality. I think it is important to assume the invalidity of every belief, as "truth" is an intangible abstraction. It is intellectually more honest to yourself to further your understanding based on available evidence.

  • @InvertedFox From what you wrote, I just realised that you may not ironically be aware that: ''It is impossible to be 100% sure about anything'' is a Belief. ''The scientific method allows us to gain a closer approximation'' is a Belief. ''To believe one knows the "truth" is a form of delusion stemming from ego'' is a Belief etc..UNLESS,of course, you don't 'believe' in anything your expressing..and you never have. Do you believe you love your mother? Can you scientifically 'approximise' it?

  • @sachmofranklin My love for my mother is not an external attribute of the environment, therefore scientific approximation is not applicable. What I am expressing is my understanding of consciousness in relationship to the environment. Consciousness in isolation is different. I do not "believe" I love my mother, I experience it directly. My consciousness is external to you, and therefore you could only hope to approximate the nature of my love for my mother, you cannot possibly know it.

  • @InvertedFox I see, well, do you *believe* that.. ''love for my mother is not an external attribute of the environment'' is a belief??. Do you believe..that you ''experience it directly''?? Do you believe that ''..a scientific approximation is not applicable'' ?? If you, do, can you scientifically prove that? Do you believe that only your infinitely evolving beliefs are valid, and that any others are not?? Are these not all your Beliefs?? Happy pondering brother. Now, I (believe I) must go..

  • @sachmofranklin Not at all, I am just expressing my perception and understanding of the environment, and inevitably it differs greatly from other peoples perceptions and understandings. That is the point, really. "Truth" is a conceptual abstraction. Our environment is fundamentally mathematical, and we can only ever approximate mathematically based on available evidence at any given moment in time. It is clear that we have different perspectives on this, so lets leave it at that. All the best!

  • If I were an atheist, this would probably make sense; but I'd have to be totally nihilistic to go for it. There is no man who is smarter than the earth that was here before any of us. I don't "believe" this video. It doesn't make a lick of sense.

  • @sspsllc "If I were an atheist, this would probably make sense" - Haha, is this meant to be ironic? :O

  • 3 people dont believe this :D

  • Wow such a validation to how I have worded things; BECAUSE I JUST KNOW.:-)) Fantastical Share with humanity.Peace and Love.:-)) <3 TO ALL Parts of our Whole; may we get in SYNC with our thoughts and MAKE things happen. Terrifice information in this vid.

  • There's a lot about this that sounds like things I was saying in one of my videos about spiritual narrative. Maybe a semantic quibble here but you can say, "I believe..." and be open to evolution in belief as readily as you can say "I understand that..." or "I think..." I agree with the core point but don't think it's necessary to toss the word "belief" out just because belief gets abused. The issue isn't belief as such, the issue is singular, absolute "truth" and certitude of monopoly in truth.

  • Really nice job!

  • 09:00 Carl Sagan, ?, Michio Kaku, Albert Einstein

  • @ShittyAccount

i used audio from george carlin and carl sagan.

  • @saydaysago2008 I am asking who is the person next to Carl Sagan in that image

  • @ShittyAccount ohh sorry. i forgot about that image. it's nikola tesla. :D

  • @saydaysago2008 thanks

  • why are we supposed to believe our government what they say about bin ladden?

  • @Realjhad don't

  • @saydaysago2008 Dont is right!

  • @Realjhad You're not supposed to 'believe' anything really... you have the freedom to believe (or more correctly) to 'evaluate as absolute' anything you want to...

The problem of course there is that if you go down that road, in believing things...any things...then you will form an emotional attachment to those beliefs...and there is no turning back without serious emotional harm.

  • Fantastic video. Thank you for putting this together.

  • there is a bit deeper aspect of understanding as well ... often times people can give you advice based on something ... but u can take that advice and new knowledge and apply it in different ways to grow your own ability to understand and perceive

  • im guessing u were born ... say around late september?

  • My dad always said never 'believe' anything you are told, not even by your teachers.

  • We ask you remove all support to the TVP and TZM and add clips t o show how you outgrown such follies. We also ask if you been asked to give donations and did to report them to the FBI and IRS at worldpress com

Join the movement to clo0se them down and stop the violence before it starts! help us save the poor members we know will be 1st drafted in the war and 1st to die as History tries to repeat itself.

have pity on the Victims of TVP and TZM and reach out to quit before it is too late!

  • @Peterwhitlock Jesus Christ... let go man. Let go of the faith and the ego, understand! I am sure you are a kind/thoughtful person, but you are deluding yourself like so many, and it is tragic.

  • @InvertedFox

\I understand all religionsd and faith better thyan most priest of the planet YOU DUNCE

so I teach beyond religion to the real key and real seal of the Universe and so the real teachings of the scriptures and the real things they build...you did no research and so act on emotion over logic and choise to be ignorant over learning then point to me how ignorant you are on the subject you never took up to let go to prove you are worthless bum in this subject you never should of spoke

  • @Peterwhitlock I have no idea what you are trying to say. Try using more punctuation to break up the rhythm of your text. I get that you are trying to insult me but its a little incoherent.

  • this logic is very flawed since we say now that each atom of your body comes not from just stars be a whole other universe that was gobbled up and then spit back out just like quasars do. You are possibly the reenactment of a past universe long dead and echoed into this big bang.Fossil record shows only life... what is life?

i care not ether way... Jesus gave us the true perfect circular village as his eternal proof of far superior wisdom from far in our past (12,000years MINIMUM)

  • Brilliant video. May I ask what video software you used?

  • @Fartonymous mostly adobe premiere, some after effects. :)

  • hey where come from in a sperm of a monkey and evolve

into human dont brain wash peoples brain

  • @bullcup would you please explain this further? i'm very curious as to what this means.

  • @saydaysago2008 My guess (and its a guess) is that it doesn't mean much... well not if you go by the semantic understanding of the word 'mean' in that context.

  • Very well done

  • thank you for this explanation friend! :)

  • Thank you - a glimpse of the light beyond the veils we've drawn around ourselves.

  • i "believe" the one person who disliked this is a douche bag -_-

  • Brilliant,1 of the best vids iv seen ,love it

  • Excelent! ----------NAMASTE-------

  • I love the idea of a united cause for a higher consciousness.but unfortunately, not everybody is raised the right way, and some turn out without a chance to understand the idea of their own conceptual consciousness advancing. Good Video!!

  • I love Pretty Lights!

  • a good friend of mine used to say: "when you stop learning, you start to die.."

  • awesome vid... and awesome choice for the tune in the background... pretty lights ftw...

  • Fantastic.

  • I love all your videos. <3

  • great video! thank you...

  • Belief is a dangerous practice, understanding everything, as the manifestation of a process is what counts.

The self and the universe is a PROCESS, an arising .The cosmos is a VERB NOT a NOUN.

Now is all there is and it passes in an instant.

    Namaste

  • Quest for better understanding without the guilt, lol. I can respect and dig that. By viewing this video convert me to atheism? No! Nor was it trying to build a case for it either. Just don't be afraid to seek answers and ask questions. What you know mixed with what you've just learned only makes you a better person. Plus this video was very well made, after viewing I felt very informed and enlighten, bravo.~Phurdrick

  • @breathoffreshair360 I doubt one could be 'converted' to atheism.... I think 'deconverted from [insert god here]' would be a more apt description...

But yeah... beliefs are pretty move immovable objects without one doing serious damage ... understanding however is a lot more ...erm... fluid and safe.

  • ♥ .

  • @MrMLD72MLD Interesting!

  • What movie was the beginning Chris Rock clip from??

  • @StopTheRobbery2

    'dogma'.

    great flick. :)

  • @saydaysago2008

Thanks man.. that is a great flick.

I can't tell you how much a relief it was seeing this video you've made btw.

I have been trying to tell people this for quite some time now.

Drop your belief systems, they are what makes humans our own worst enemy.

Although I do think that within the confines of our 3rd dimension in which we live there are certain truths that will forever remain the same. The scientific method can tell us these truths... for example, mercury is poisonous.

  • @StopTheRobbery2 Truths... hmmm.. and "mercury is poisonous".. well yes if you ingest it... but if you use it to tell the temperature than perhaps a little less poisonous...So I suppose oxygen is poisonous too...despite your fondness for the stuff it will kill you...

Its all a matter of perspective.

  • you're a genius. thanks.

  • nice. like the background music... i was listening to it in my car earlier today!

  • Perfect! I was thinking this way for a long time ago and I didn't find a way to explain it, and this does it in a perfect way! Congratulations, you surely deserve them!

  • I concur. Me, WE! Us.

  • Fucking unreal mang! You literally explained my whole feelings on life as of recently. I'll be using this video to explain to people how one should consider living their lives in the world today where knowledge changes so fast you barely have time to learn it.

  • Incredible vid dude, ty

i'll admit i was pretty pleased with that line myself, sometimes i get a spark of literary competency.

and the material? a little memory, mostly google image, youtube, and random word associations (google image helps with this too).

hope everything's well on the other side of the world :).

  • Thank you.

  • really enjoyed this video, keep up the good work!

  • food for thought....... absolutely love this

  • Very cool work

  • I like how you subliminally brainwash me into being a sheep at the very end, by alternating between the image and the website. That was cool. I had a lot of ideas right before that. I'm thirsty. I'm gonna go drink a coke.

  • @modernrockbro what? into being a sheep ? be more specific

  • @MrBananaverde i think he's talking about when i flash my website link up at the end? is it subliminal because it skips out like that? i was just having fun. with the editing. it stays on for a full second at the end of the clip, hardly 'subliminal brainwashing'.

    that or he's just joking.

  • @saydaysago2008 Egg Zackley. You have exceptional talent. It was captivating, and content/quality-wise it is on the same level with National Geographic, Discovery & TLC. Keep it up.

  • @modernrockbro thanks. :)

as for content/quality... we'll see once i learn to spell dependent.

  • Super gay video. How could you NOT support any of this? Hies not convincing me, I'm already there. Who is he trying to catch with this video? All the treehuggers does already believe, sorry idea this shit. Do the same voiceover with something offensive, to catch the attention of somebody new to the idea.

  • This video is amazing. I have a deep respect for you.

  • Brilliant video, seems to summarize all the thoughts that I have had in my head but have been unable to put down and comprehend in such a manner.

    Just brilliant, Thank you

  • Fantastic watch. Great footage of Carl Sagan, shame he's not still around to support this movement! Thanks very much, I shall share.

  • @brucegalliver i think he would give everything he could to the movment he was anti war and he wonted the earth to be a better place

  • You still amaze me dude. This is what ART is all about, showing the world as changeable, and help change it, for the better. THANK YOU!

  • GREAT video, you did a great job.

  • I can't like this video enough times. This is awesome, keep it up.

  • Thank YOU~!

  • great video saydaysago! quite 'in line' with certain multi-ordinal understandings I am realizing by reading Science and Sanity (Alfred Korzybski). LOL have you read it? If not, enjoy!

  • @IntuitiveLeap We are most certainly limited by understanding by a pretty poor model filtered by our senses and nervous system. Korzybski I found a little erm... boring.... nothing against the man but his writing style is a tad yawn inducing.... one to go to bed and nod off to sleep with I think...
