That very first chord sounds like a piano. I heard it and thought, "Is Dickerson on this?" But alas, the second chord arrived, and I realized, "Ah, no Dickerson." But then, I had a revelation! I yelled at the top of my lungs, "This is still Buckethead!" And from that moment onward, I was forever smiley face.
If the world ended, and humans lived in a post-apocalyptic environment, I would start a radio station, and this would be the first song on the playlist.
i wanna see buckethead do really heavy metal. I know it is not his style, but i would love to hear what he comes up with like with breakdowns and stuff
It used to make me sad when I thought of how many people haven't heard of Buckethead or misunderstood his persona. When I read an interview of his, I got over it. I'm just glad he exists.
This is from the interview by Riffage:
Does it bother you that albums like that might not get any exposure?
Buckethead: Nah, I think it's fine. It's kind of fun to have small, underground things like that, that spread by word of mouth. I like that -- it's fun and eventually it can (grow) as time goes on.
With 27 studio albums, 7 Soundtracks, collaborations with 17 bands and Viggo Mortensen's solo act under his belt, Buckethead has proven to be the most versital and complete guitarist, in turn making him the greatest ever... Jimmy O-D'd, Kirk Hammet sold out, Steve Vai hasn't the same work ethic and Satriani didn't teach Buckethead like most other guitarists were taught by Joe...
@ Bucket420Head Don't you have anything better to do than to get involved in a conversation that took place 3 Month's ago? Don't you have internet porn to jerk off to, child? Go yank on your little pork and stop wasting my time kid.
His new stuff is a lot better than before... better choice of musicians and more carefully planned out songs. You can tell he really though about these ones. I'm impressed with him right now :D
You say that like you know him personally lol You have no idea what his intentions were and I don't either. Its all speculation unless you are the man behind the mask.
I agree with jerk except for the reasons that buckethead joined GNR....I think he was looking for something new another band to play with i think it excites him having people on stage with him. BUT not GNR i hate Axl. Bucket And Lady gaga need to hook up and do a song together
Buckethead in GNR is a joke lol. I'm sure Bucket only did it so more people would hear about him and check out his music. Buckethead just doesn't fit in GNR. By that I mean he's a far better musician than anyone in GNR or anyone that has ever been in GNR. Yes that includes Slash, but I'm sure even Slash would tell you that he hasn't studied the guitar quite like Buckethead has. Bucket can play ANY style and sound good doing it. Slash has limits to what styles he can play, but he's still good.
@jerk618 GNR is a joke for buckethead yes.. but he didnt join them to get more famous and get people to know him better... buckethead doesnt wanna be famous.. he is already rich from family money.. he just wants people to hear music for what it can be.. inspiration miracle worker.. not fame seeker
@jerk618 actually he said no to Axl until Axl presented Buck with a limited edition Leatherface doll that he was trying to get for a long time, so he joined the band for that.
@jerk618 This is very true. He also chose to play with GNR to get some money. He isn't the kinda guy that does it for the money obviously, but his albums and shows don't exactly make him millions of dollars. He does what he can to get by and he loves making music and that's what he'll continue to do.
@jerk618 how do you know? Slash may be able to play tons of genres...you have no idea! Just because he hasn't recorded them doesn't mean he can't play them. Comparing guitar players is like comparing apples to oranges...each one is very different
BH can play slap bass better than anyone I've ever heard, he plays jazz (guitar), blues, metal, shred, soothing, rock, hell even alternative. I would love to see someone else produce music like Buckethead. Until someone else comes out and makes music on that level, BH is the BY FAR the most versatile player.
@JFri4321 I never said he couldn't. Buckethead is by far the most versatile player there is...but that doesn't change the fact that just because someone plays one style of music on their recordings...doesn't mean that's all they know.
Agreed. I do not like to compare guitarist like you were saying, I just believe he has changed the way millions of people listen and play music. I hate to make the comparison of Hendrix, but that is what he did; his innovation changed the guitar world, and that's why he is considered "The greatest of all time". It's not about being a good guitar player but innovation. Something BH has taken to a new level.
Dave Mustaine: Buckethead is probably twice as good a guitar player as me and Slash combined
Slash: Well, that is actually true. Anybody who knows me knows that technically I couldn't play my way out of a paper bag. [Laughs] Or a KFC bucket, for that matter. I manage to do what it is I do based on a certain kind of feel and sound. I'm getting better at it but I've never been what you'd call a technical guitar player so he's totally right [laughs]
but if people don't hear his music, it will be hard for him to keep his music career. Which I'm sure is very important to him. But I have no doubt that he would play with just as much passion even if he wasn't famous.
sorry, I knew he was in GnR and I heard Chinese Democracy, it's because you said :"Axl's Bithday" without putting "AXL ROSE" then, I would know who was it
music like this makes you happy to be alive. :)

some looping would be nice with this style, deeper and more hypnotic.
but this is very tasteful work , not dark and manic like some of his stuff.
but many of these style leave me wanting them to have more nasty guitar.
