There must be a reason why kucinich was not even publicized in the 08 election. because america knows that its corrupt system would fall if the public was able to hear this man speak and make him president.
I would take any of those four in any variety. Personally if I could hand pick two candidates, it would be Paul/Ventura with Napolitano as the Attorney General and Peter Schiff as the Secretary of Treasury . The Judge would indict all the criminals that have occupied the White House for the last ten years.
I voted for this man in 08 and I will vote for him in every election until he changes his ideology/stances, becomes president for a second term, or dies. I want to see him or somebody like him as president before I die.
Thanks for flip-flopping, Dennis. I wouldn't want to enter the polls incorrectly thinking that you stood behind your word like Ron Paul. I guess one ride on Air Force One did the trick! I see there's already been some censorship in this discussion. Noam Chomsky said this would happen.
let me be clear: an insurance mandate without a public option is like giving people $20 but forcing them to spend $40 with an industry that makes their money by denying their services! this healthcare bill is very republican: expand government through privatization...capitalize the gains and socialize the losses!
The man is right. HMOs are built around not providing service. They're the symptom of our problem. But not the problem itself.
What he doesn't tell you is that the only reason they even exist, is because the government funnels money into the healthcare industry. Billions of dollars that go to corporations so they can provide "healthcare" to their employees. They then use that government money to buy coverage from HMOs.
You wanna get rid of HMOs? Get rid of government subsidies to corporations.
I like Dennis Kucinich, but I disagree with his position on Health Reform. I , along with many others, want to see a "single payer option too, but the votes aren't there for it. So, it would be nice to see Mr. Kucinich vote "yes" to pass the present Health Reform bill instead of voting against it. Though the present bill sucks, it's still is better than no HeathReform at all.
How do you know that? How can you sit there without question and say an admitted sucky bill is better than nothing. You don't believe bad bills can make things worse? Did you listen to Kucinich? It's a sell off to the insurance companies and they are forcing us, FORCING us to buy insurance. So even if I can't afford it I have to buy it??
@c588414 :: those weren't my talking points or the GOP talking points of which I am not apart of, but those were Dennis Kucinich's own talking points. Stop playing partisan politics, I'm not with the GOP.
Yes! Finally higher taxes! DK 2012!! Better yet just elect an actual flip-flop. You might have to separate the pair, but at least we won't be surprised every time a politician double-talks.
@conoisewerdog , you may have a point there, however, Mr. Kucinich is a prominent figure in the Dem Party, and we Liberals need his support. The GOP had 8 years under GW Bush to fix healthcare, but instead chose to ignore the problem. And now that Obama and the Dems have come up with proposals to address the heatlhcare crisis the GOP are crying foul.
If we paid attention to individual politicians and their track records, we would get a lot better results for candidates. Ignore the left/right paradigm we're being sold by corporate/gov't influenced media, and focus on the one politician whom has not changed their tune in 30 yrs. Which ones aren't 'career politicians' interested only in advancing their careers? Which one understands healthcare & the economy? Better start your research now, 2012 isn't too far away.
@silencemagazine , you're misrepresenting Mr. Kucininch's position on HealthReform . He wants a" single payer option", which is to the left of the current Health Reform bill. And thanks to the GOP and a few corporate whore Democrats, that aspect of the bill was dropped. Many middleclass Americans, including myself, are currently paying a high cost just to keep Health Ins, so anything reform is better than nothing.
Dennis is not a Democrap....he's a Progressive pile of turd!!!! Sorry bud, but the whole "single payer" HC won't work in this country. It's simply unsustainable!!!!!
We have the greatest HC in the world!! Are there problems with it? Yes. But fix the problems, don't try to re-invent the wheel!!!
Yeah, as a matter of fact I do have the best healthcare in the world. Along with the other 80% of Americans who like thier HC coverage and don't want the gov't screwing with it in anyway.
And don't give me that B.S. that Obamacare won't do that, because that is simply not true! It will screw things up, and besides we'll be paying for it for at least 3 years before anything even happens.....if it happens.
I lived in Japan for 3 years, Germany for 2 years, France for 1 year, and the USA for 33 years. So yeah, I can compare to the rest of the world. Probably better than you, and YES, the USA has the best HC in the world as far as I'm concerned.
But at least we agree on the fact that Obamacare will be a disaster.
Well I have lived in the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland, and categorically France, is top of the list for me by far. The top end healthcare in the US might be better, but in general healthcare is by far and away much better in France.
I watched my dying Dad go through the British system and it made me sick, I live in Holland now and the system sucks-and guess what you are FORCED to take insurance here...
Well thanks my dad died a few years ago, but the system he paid for all his life and trusted in to help when he finally needed stuck treated him like well, shit is the only word I can use.
Government run healthcare is a disaster for the people, first it reduces the quality creates waiting lists, and forces you to do what they say, but there is a more sinister aspect...
After a while they will start saying oh we will ban this or that because it cause healt problems and that puts a strain on the system... so salt or fat or meat or cigarettes or whatever will be deemed a reason not to treat somebody.
Secondly it creates a very large voter block, if the HC system is run by the govt. that's an enormous amount of votes, so the politicians are held to ransom by the healthworkers because they will soon be a massive section of the voting public.
The NHS in the UK is the 3rd biggest employer in the world, 1.3 million people all of voting age, that is almost 8% of the entire potential vote in the UK.
Keith Olbermann really pisses me off. I used to love his show. Till i got sick and tiered of every time i turn around. He has a replacement. I stopped watching him in November and i just checked now to see what he is up to.. Only to find the same bullshit. Some replacement.. Im sorry Mr. Olbermann Let me know when you are back full time....
First we voted the Democrats in because we believed their promises of real change. Then they proved their spinelessness from backing down and even apologizing to the right-wing bullies who denounced an alternative to greedy private insurance cos. (This in addition to Lieberman, Baucus, Mike Ross, et al, selling their souls for insurance lobbyist money.) Then, at the last minute, they grow a spine and use Reconciliation!; only to back down AGAIN from a public option! Pretty damn sad, guys...
Kucinich is one of the few straight members of congress.
Sorry to say it, but Obama is too corrupt to support. If he gets shit for being "a leftist" he might as well actually push real leftist reform to leave a slightly better legacy.
The legacy we inherit is our forefathers will to live. The right to decide between wrong and right, to fulfill whatever our distiny is, but we have become mindless cattle and slaves to foriegn goals. Our ancestors laid down thier lives for FREEDOM. Many feel this sprirt has left the soul of this land. The endeavors of t...he past still dwell within the few. The last stand for FREEDOM IS HERE AND NOW WE MUST STOP OBAMA!!!
The current bill as proposed, by both shills Clinton and Obama, is nothing less that a return to a feudal system, where people are forced to give their wages to the lords of the land, the economic royalists.
we don't need health insurance, we need health services.
We don't need middlemen skimming off the already inflated medical costs, we need single payer and aggressive controls over fraudulent and unconscionable billing practices.
Dennis kucinich is the only one that cares for the people's health. If the American people want real health care they should choose a universal health care system!
What was clarified for me with this media byte is that Dennis does see the current set of Congressional Bills are for the most part Smoke and Mirrors. Handouts to the Insurance Industry that will outpace the Bank Bailouts as the current Bills will be an ongoing coercion that require all adults to purchase products regardless of their personal desires or need.
I think Mr K is playing politics w/the PO. It would never go thru but is a card he can hold over opposing pols.
I was running out of chars and chose to use the acronym "PO" instead of spelling out Public Option. At this time I don't challenge such usage, it seems appropriate.
Neither will I chide Mr Kucinich for supporting Single Payer as I don't understand the implementation he is referring to.
I no longer chide Cong. Kucinich for his stance on Single Payer as I do not fully understand how it would be implemented.

Government has been under funding healthcare for decades through Medicaid and Medicare and that is way the rest of us have to pay so much.
If the fed paid the REAL cost of these programs, then insurance companies wouldnt be nailed for the rest of the costs the government didnt pay
