OS, drivers) or so many others. Actually I don't understand why we need java at all, if you need speed - write in C, if you want to write software fast - write in Ruby/Python/Scala etc. I guess if you want to be enterprise - write in java.

wtf does everyone use printf() instead of puts() for strings with no formatting codes in them? Go take a look at a printf() implementation and you'll be appalled at the amount of overhead printf() brings with it. USE PUTS() when you don't have to format the string!
