China signed a border demarcation in order to ensure that resource are not "wasted" on her norther flank, but instead, resources are invested in modernizing her naval forces (sovermenny, kilo, varyag, etc..) for maritime expansion.
The only thing Russia is useful for is a) using Russia's priviledged position as hegemon of CEntral Asia for Chinese capital to access natural resources, and b) resources in Far East.

If russia would have threatened another country with a nuclear bomb i think the whole world would know and it would have been talked everywhere.
