This might just be my favourite recording of anything ever, I'm not sure. Paul sang on this really really well I think. Sometimes I think he can be kinda average at singing, but here, I think he's a beast at singing and guitar playing. It's such a shame they can't meet together again....

I was at this show. The video of the other song that the group played is on YouTube. Joe Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and Alex Skolnick were on stage with Shawn Lane. In the first song (I'm going down) Lane absolutely blew everyone else off stage. But, it was when they played "Let it be" that everyone realized what they were in the presence of. Vai got off stage, took someone's video camera from the audience, and recorded Lane instead of playing. Satriani sang.

Shawn never played with Mclaughlin or Holdsworth sadly.

He played with a few other great musicians though like Eric Johnson, Jeff Berlin and Victor Wooten.

I was a bit suprised about the last 2 actually.

There are 2 video versions of this performance that exist that i know of....... one guy likes to sit on his copy like it was his throne, foaming at the mouth thinking about what he has that no-one else does, he'll never share his copy.

The other guy who has it, has the whole of that show from the front row, i've been trying to persuede him to share a copy of that show for a couple of years now, he did agree to it a few months back, but still nothing has emerged.

Still definately sounds like Paul to me. I'll have to ask Paul, or someone who was there, to clear it up. It certainly isn't Shawn on vocals. In fact, i just thought, Mark Varney was there (Mike's brother), he actually filmed that footage of the All star Namm Jam from the same event, he should know. If i get an update i'll post it.

There's another video on here of Paul singing "Let it Be", and although the sound quality is different, it sounds like the same guy to my ears.

Great cover by these two monsters. It never ceases to amaze me how respectful PG is with other guitar players. He clearly lets SL take the show, and showcase his absolutely out of this world talent and musicmanship. PG can make runs as well, but he simply does not. And it is not the first time I see PG do this on stage. He does his thing and lets center stage for the other guitar player. A true class guy. Thanks for the upload, by the way.
