uplifting melodies with the most thought provoking lyrics of our generation. I first had the pleasure to see Tim and the band twenty years ago and I'll be in Glasgow @ SECC on Friday night reminding myself just how fucking good they are and probably kidding myself on I can still dance like I'm 21!
fuck, lets all enjoy this song. it's one of the only decent you tube comments. thank you all. take care all of you. i have the best memories of my life with this tune and your comments. cheers. long live Scotland. x

James are brilliant...they were part of the Madchester scene has far as iam aware well before Britpop era along with 808state,inspiral carpets, the stone roses,Happy Mondays.great times.
@redriot74 Britpop was just a commercial load of crap tailored by the likes of oasis and blur...groups like this were the real sound of Manchester and indie music...shame britpop ruined it all !!
fucking magic tune. it started my career as a snowboarder. it also makes me remind myself of the good times. it's a shame james never done anything as good after this.this is in my 'desert island discs top ten'. how many times can we listen to this little baby?....
That song was from the Gold Mother album which I bought in 1990. It was released a long time before the so called era of 'Brit Pop' in the mid to late nineties. Though it was albums and bands like this that did 'influence' the 'Brit Pop' era later on. However James were never a 'Brit Pop' band. That's an insult to a James fan, and the band. James were (and are) never like anything else- they strove on being different and creating their own sound.
you can sort of see why a french person might think a british indie band from manchester in the 90's might be 'brit pop'. some of the vagaries of cultural sub-genres become rather less distinct the further away you get geographically.
Madchester Rave on!
