@ImIwilliamImI Because those are PROVEN techniques that work. The problem with guys like this is that they do not prove what they teach. It is always a randory, a simulation, a demonstration, etc. There are a lot of grappling and striking competitions out there; Where are the kung-fu guys, the AIkidokas, the ninjas, etc.? Thxs to MMA people are today more skeptical; if my BJJ instructor has no problem accepting a grappling match why your kung-fu instructor is always making excuses?
I did BJJ and MuayThai for MMA. Good for me, I hurt people and I got hurt... What did I learn? I learned how to hurt people... MMA is a joke, it's not martial arts, it's just fighting. They use martial arts moves, but they're not artists, they are just fighters. Btw none of the moves in MMA are new or unique. The human body only moves so many ways. You honestly believe in the million+ years of human history that people in the 21st century figured out something new about fighting!?! LOL
to answer your question, yes this is all traditional kung fu, maybe a little bit modified which is good, but in shaolin temple they have bunch of ground fighting systems that involve grappling, wrestling, locks, submissions that other systems such as bjj would dream to have, so my advice to you is if you want hardcore ground fighting go to kung fu but not any kung fu ideally shaolin and maybe even this guy he is amazing with this stuff, even ufc fighters can benefit with him
Oh of course, but many US schools are lame and people just wanna learn cool wrist flicks and people go flipping... Back in the day these moves were part of fighting, cause if you lost, you most likey died, so of course traditional martial arts had ground fighting, but nowdays some lame schools give ALL traditional asian martial arts bad names...
that was very impressive. i would have never thought of that move. as for the MMA thing. i like watching it and maybe someday learn some of the moves. but i will always have love for kung fu style of martial arts.
originally the TMA's would have had grappling and ground fighting in them. its just that these techniques got forgotten about when all the kung fu films came out and all people wanted to learn was flying kicks like in the movies. the gracies greatest achivement was to re emphasise the importance of ground work when fighting. this has helped take the mcdojo culture away as more people are following there arts back to their brutal and effective pasts.
This isent anything new... These techniques have been around for quite a while now lol They are actually the orgins of the famous MMA loved BJJ. Notice the gaurd position. Though id say the Japanese perfected Jujutsu (for what it was used for)and the BJJ is GREAT for ring fighting, you can trace the techniques of Original Jujutsu back to Kung fu, many takedowns, locks, chokes, breaks. It all came from Kung fu,this is NOTHING new lol Just movies blind people of what Kungfu really is,its FIGHTING lol
Sweet omg thank god for this vid ppl with got some UFC lovers who thinks kung fu sux anf got no grappling or counters. This stuff is nice and prove it.
It is a 21st century modern style blending kungfu with bjj, I think. It is not traditional kungfu like ones practiced in china but it is still useful.
this guy has grappled people from real BJJ schools and beaten them...quickly. He's a phenom and I assure you you don't know what you're talking about. When you know how to apply the principles of wing chun to ground fighting, it's as deadly as the art is standing up.
I tried that neck crank thing on someone in my no gi bjj class and its illegal, i pissed off one of my training partners doing that.

What does it matter where an art came from ? We are all human.

have u ever broken a guy's neck before? it takes more pounds of force than you think..
the opponent can also stack you and break the guard because the guard itself isn't even closed...
But you got some good basics down that may somewhat protect you from GNP.

Good to see someone in TMA is taking the intiative and finally teaching real groundwork. Takes away the holes in their game.

Jujitsu according to japanese derived from sumo.
Chinese point to chin gempin as originator.
This is debated.
