Sioux City, IA 12/12/95 our Mother "Alyce Marie Garr" took her last breath. This is the song we used in remembrance of her. The song caressed it's way through the PA system during our Mothers funeral service. I remember the moment it began there wasn't a dry eye in the church. One Sweet Day is a very powerful song & who better to bring that out then Mariah Carey & Boys II Men. GOD does Bless & we can all look forward to One Sweet Day with the ones we have lost along the way through Jesus Christ.

I love this song and all BUT I don't like this acapella. :(

I mean, her voice was TOO LIGHT during this era. That's why I prefer the Mariah Carey - Music Box Era's when her voice was a lot FULLER and her belting had more power.

I don't know why people considered this era her best vocally - i don't necessarily like the light, "girlish" tone she had. It pales in comparison to say Vision of Love/Emotions/Hero

Music Box was her vocal prime in my opinion.

@TheMCLamb4ever Those of us who consider the Daydream Era her best vocally has to do more with her live performances during this era especially the Daydream World Tour performances. If you listen to the Music Box Tour performances they aren't as strong vocally as the performances during the Daydream World Tour.

@TheMCLamb4ever Her voice was pretty bad during the entire Music Box tour, and she often struggled singing Without You live in her promo spots in 94. Daydream was easily her best era, belting and control-wise. Emotions was probably her best era in terms of whistles.

@TheMCLamb4ever my mother said the same thing. but have you seen her belting on her tokyo tour? i think performance wise, that was her best era. i dont think people are referring to her daydream album itself. her music box tour was that rare uncontrolled vocals but tokyo tour was so precise and her vocals sounded almost exactly like the recording. she did whisper alot at madison square garden during daydream era though...

@TrashyTrannyTime yeah, but those whispers BACK THEN were part of what made her get that unique singing style along with her runs and shifting from whisper to full voice back and forth. but her whispery voice kind of gets weak after butterfly era

I love Mariah but I noticed that lately she can NOT reach the level of notes she did back in 1996. Watch the videos from 1996 to present and you'll see. Although it's sad, she's still the best singer in my book. I wish she would get away from the Snoop Doggie Dogs and go back to respectable singing w/respectable groups like Boyz to Men.
