  • Tax all religions hard, let´s see how strong their faith is.

  • Did the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints know that members are "leaving in droves?" a woman asked.

"We are aware," said Jensen, according to a tape recording of his unscripted remarks. "And I'm speaking of the 15 men that are above me in the hierarchy of the church. They really do know and they really care," he said.

--"Mormonism besieged by the modern age" (Reuters)

  • This person is full of it. There are students at BYU and every other Church school who aren't Mormon and they can still attend class and graduate. There are even people who are gay and in good standing at the university.

All you have to do is take one religion class a semester and live the honor code standards. You can still believe differently and be open about it at BYU as long as you live by those standards.

  • @Disneysongsr

LDS BYU students who come to realize the church isn't true are in a different situation due to the "ecclesiastical endorsement" requirement.

  • @iqlusionblogspot True, you do need to have an ecclesiastical endorsement, but if you don't believe the Church is true, you could ask to have your name removed from the records of the Church and get an endorsement from another religious group.

I'm not sure what the policy is on atheists, but I'd imagine that something could be worked out where he/she could transfer to another school or finish the degree.

  • @iqlusionblogspot Bottom line, No one forced this person to go to BYU and sign the honor code. He/she did that of his/her own free will. It's a bit over-dramatic to imply that this student needs to "suffer in silence" and sneak around for fear of retribution.

As long as this person keeps his/her word and lives the honor code, they can have and voice different beliefs.

  • LDS is about as believable as the "Church" of Scientology. LDS was started by a con-man named Joseph Smith and the "Church" of Scientology was started by a science fiction writer. Come on now! A little rational thought will easily show that both are just crazy. Sometimes I feel like I'm living in some kind of strange Twilight Zone episode where people just believe what they're told and they don't take the time to investigate anything for themselves.

  • She sounds like Shaq

  • Yea and he made it all up just so he could be persecuted, hated, mobbed, attacked, driven to and fro, jailed some times for months under horrible conditions, have and extermination order against him and all mormons, and have his best friends and witnesses of the book of mormon plates turn against him, (none of the witnesses ever denied the authenticity of the plates and that the angel Moroni showed them)-How did he con them into doing that? Yea right he really gained alot by publishing the BOM.

  • @MrFitzwilly So if people violently disagree with you your ideology must be true? You can say all the same things about Hitler & the Nazis.

Con men like Joseph Smith have psycholgocal pathologies that cause them to not only gain psychogical payoffs, but to even begin to believe their own lies. I've met these people in my job. It's surprisingly common.

  • @psusac Fuck off!

  • Hang in there, We are with you!

  • @psusac suck a dick! This video is false, and atheists are like cockroaches.

  • @LDS4Life71 No thanks. While I have no moral objection to dick sucking, I prefer licking pussies.

You have a nice day though.

  • @psusac Atheists are like cockroaches and are full of kaka.

The church of Jesus Christ is true, and you got nothing.

  • @LDS4Life71 Truely your arguements are MOST persuasive! WHY have I never thought of that before?

What are you like, 10 years old or something?

  • @psusac No, but I'm tired of you badmouthing us when you have no fucking credibility or clue whatsoever.

  • @LDS4Life71 Well now that we have that out in the open, I'd like you to go back and read my posts and tell me when I badmouthed the LDS church.

All I said was "hang in there we are with you" which says NOTHING about your church. Perhapse your thin-skin comes from the fact that mormons are a persecuted minority in this country?

If that's what's going on for you, I'd suggest you try being an athiest, and see how much hate you get dumped on you.

Then grow a pair and stop hating,

  • Joseph Smith was a known con-artist. His con continues to this day and it leads people away from truly being able to know Christ. This is a terrible shame and it really needs to stop. They need to be exposed for their beliefs that directly contradict the Bible.

  • @BramSLI1 You make lots of general accusations but say nothing. There is nothing that contradicts the Bible, instead it explains and clarifies the Bible. Joseph Smith was one of the finest men to ever walk the face of the earth, and a true Prophet of God.

  • @BramSLI1 Why would you think that the bible was not ALSO written by con men? I mean, after all, the stories in the book of mormon are NO MORE CRAZY-SOUNDING than the stories in the bible. If you apply the same standards of truth to the bible that you do to the book of mormon, you will see why I am an atheist.

  • There's something odd about the language used in this. It's not normal. She calls it the "Y U". That's not what it's called by students who go there, which makes me wonder if this was really made by a BYU student, and not by some atheist who wants push their agenda.

  • If your atheist? why would you go to BYU? That's like a vegetarian going to a steak house.

  • Freedom is great.

  • You wouldn't lose shit from this video.

  • Blonde dumb fucking bitch is clueless

  • Such a dumb, fucking bitch!

  • Comment removed

  • @pmoyer50 You got nothing. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and he told the truth.

There is absolutely no way Joseph Smith' wrote a "story.'

    You're an idiot.

    ROFLMAO

  • Comment removed

  • @pmoyer50 You have ZERO proof of anything. YOU are a clueless idiot. The only evil are the lies of the false faith of evangelical liars like you.

  • Comment removed

  • @pmoyer50 Prove it bitch!

    YOU GOT NOTHING.

  • @LDS4Life71 : It's well documented that he was a treasure seeking charlatan. If I ran out of toilet paper I'd use the book of mormon with no qualms about it.

  • @pmoyer50 You are clueless. Joseph Smith was no charlatan. The only idiot here is you.

  • @pmoyer50 Put up or shut up!

Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God

  • I feel sorry for all those who make any sort of judgment because of this video. Critical thinking would 1. point out that this person provides no empirical evidence 2. Doesn't prove that this 'person' is even real 3.cause you to research the subject if you're not lazy. After 5 minutes of search I have found evidence that BYU BYU-Idaho BYU-Hawaii LDS Business College all accept atheist students if the atheist students agree to live by an honor code. Thus undercutting the credibility of this video

  • I can't tolerate or take serious a video with the cliche female robotic voice....moving on.

  • Go eat some magic mushrooms and all of your questions will be answered.

  • "At Brigham Young University, if you publicly admit that the LDS Church seems untrue to you, you may be barred from graduating."

HOW THE FUCK IS THIS SCHOOL ACCREDITED?

  • @emperor0013 Actually, for this to be true, there could be no students of other faiths at BYU. However, there are non-Mormons at BYU who receive degrees from BYU. So it obviously is not true that you have to believe LDS teachings to graduate from BYU.

  • Mormons are some of the nicest people.

  • Wow! That really sucks? May I ask why one would even apply to BYU if you weren't Mormon?

  • Hahaha, keep pretending dumb ass, feel sorry for you life

  • laaaaaaame!

  • What a hypocrite, have some balls and leave if you don't believe, as it is now your lieing, and a hypocrite. roll eyes.

  • I bet the girl that you put in the picture is going to be pretty upset. If I met you or knew you at all at BYU I would recognize you in this picture. You're most definately a fake. Someone with way too much time on their hands. Doesnt even have the spine to use HIS oh ahem I mean her own voice but doesnt mind putting 90 % of her face... Get a clue man!!!

  • Hey!, You don't get barred from graduation just because you don't believe in the LDS church anymore.

  • Libary books are typically outdated for resource material. Maybe that explains why athiest fashion is also typically outdated ...e.g polyester high water britches, vintage shirt with pocket and protector, etc.

I guess I just spelled out that athiests are nerds ...but anyway, Charles Darwin woke up one day and realized he was a very homely human. I have to admit, if I experienced that, I would probably subscribe to athiesm as well.

  • @MarkAllenChannel Charles Darwin was not necessarily an Athiest. You would know that if you were a "nerd" and actually did some research.

  • @Laifgozon Okay, Darwin wasn't an Athiest, and you're not a Troll.

  • @MarkAllenChannel Just as you are not a troll for expressing your opinion. :) I'm not exactly sure what someone's fashion choice or appearance have to do with their personal beliefs, and I'm not sure what the correlation between library books and atheists is supposed to be, but if you would take the time to update your research using this little thing called the internet that we happen to be using, you might find that Darwin's stance on religion was private and is up for debate.

  • Every athiest I've met thought they were intelligent because they read a lot of library books.

  • @MarkAllenChannel

Not the worst criterion for believing you're intelligent, eh?

  • @iqlusionblogspot

    But what is intelligence?

  • Comment removed

  • @MarkAllenChannel Yeah, everyone knows you can't gain knowledge by reading books! Books make you dumber and dumberrer! It wears out your eyeballs and then you have to go to the doctor. You might go blind if you read too much. I better quit writing. You might be in danger! God speed, little buddy! Keep on not reading! And try not to think too much either. It really hurts! Only believe what your religious officials tell you!

  • @MarkAllenChannel - Yeah...how do you get smart from reading alot of books? Intelligence comes from judging things from your heart [/sarcasm]

  • @MarkAllenChannel Library, Level = Asian =D

  • @MarkAllenChannel What´s your point, child.

  • For a similar, but higher quality video, search this phrase:

    "I'm a BYU-Idaho student and I'm an Ex Mormon."

Though they are obviously in the minority, all the BYU campuses have at least some students who have come to realize that the church is anything but true.

  • People around the world are losing their religions at an astounding rate. The reason? I would bet my life it is education. Knowledge. Because of more freely accessible information through many different sources like the internet, they are studying their and other religions and how they don't have any evidence at ALL for their claims. And that there is no difference between that and a made up story. Intelligence and knowledge are the future and religion is dying fast Good riddance!!!

  • Freak fact about Mormon is they believe God lives on a Planet near the center of the Universe named Kolob, and Jesus was a Alien.

All Christian read the whole Bible.

Mormons read the Bible plus this book of Mormon that includes the not so Christian belief about God, and Jesus.

  • haha FAKE

  • Mormons are just another bullshit religion. Tax the mother fuckers.

  • your face is bullshit and you are a muthafukka!

  • @hand2fin Fuck you bitch. You are the only bullshit here.

  • @hand2fin I am a Mormon, and I pay taxes. I don't know of one who is exempt.

  • "if you publicly admit that the LDS Church seems untrue to you, you may be barred from graduating"

More BS, there are non-LDS students going there as well, thus, Church membership is not even a requisite for attendance.

  • BYU students agree to abide by an honor code. Don't want the honor code? DON"T AGREE.

  • Fake !!!!!!

  • @Tom6093 Complete fake

  • @bomac10000 I am not fake...I'm genaric !!!

  • People of planet Earth: You need to stop wasting my time here with your embarrassingly stupid religious beliefs. I mean it.

  • LDS = cult nothing more nothing less.........

  • @noshoes1969 When Christ was on the Earth, he created a Church which would qualify as a cult as well, thus, we are in good company...

  • @noshoes1969 You make it sound like having beliefs that are different than everyone elses is somehow a bad thing. When everyone else has it wrong, who cares what names they call you.

  • Moronism

  • Thats like a double cave you need to get out of... good luck

  • Then go to the U of U, I am a Ute and a Mormon but we took a lot of non-Mormons, get a life.

  • "If you disagree with Church leaders the Church will try to shame you"

Complete fraud, If you disagree, you are free to go and talk about it. No one ever tried to shame me into anything. BTW, when you go to BYU you agree to abide by the honor code (regardless of religious affiliation). Only problem here is, she has no honor. But thats ok, because this entire thing is made up anyway by someone trying to slam the LDS, no shortage of that going on.

  • @bomac10000 - Shame is integral to religion. Mormonism is no exception. If you commit a medium-level sin, your bishop tells you not to take the sacrament for a while. Why? Public shaming. Not current with tithing? Tell the bishop to his face in tithing settlement. Think attitudes about gays are wrong? Tell a GA and see how long it takes to get a call from the Stake prez.

They WILL try to shame you. It's part of the culture and structure of the Church. "Complete fraud" is incorrect.

  • Shame is part of the teaching process within all cultures, it creates within the learner a desire not to repeat socially unacceptable choices, like picking your nose, or stealing.

This person in the video lacks courage, don't make them a victim, they have other choices if they so desire, and more importantly, if they really exist.

  • . . . any wealthier because your folks would likely give their money to the LDS church in their will. The best scenario would be for you to move away from family members where you can live as you please and see them only occasionally. It can be difficult to face the truth, so you are to be commended for doing so.

  • Hang in there. Keep quiet for the sake of your future. Don't listen to people who say to be open about it; that would only cause you problems. Also, if your parents have money that they plan to leave you in their will, it would behoove you to pretend with them if you want your inheritance. I know of 2 people whose parents disinherited them because they left their church. If that seems dishonest to you, look at it this way: You will be doing the world a favor by not making the LDS church . .

  • @Almamater8888 If her parents can't get over it, then I'd tell them to take their inheritance and shove it.

  • You don't have to be a Mormon to go to BYU, you only have to sign an honor code saying you'll adhere to the standards of the honor code while on campus. However it would be strange to be an atheist and attend an LDS college. Why don't you just transfer to a different school? I mean that honestly.

  • Thiumbs up is you clicked on this video because you though it said LSD, lol.

  • Why didn't you just attend a different school? And I mean that as an actual question, not really making a point.

  • @KedViper I think she addressed this in the video. "I have too many credits to transfer and too many friends." You may not be as alone as you think football-going-no-eyed-girl. Message me if you're looking to meet likeminded people in Provo.

  • @KedViper

I know several people who became atheists *at* BYU even though they had strong testimonies before college. At BYU, you learn how to analyze in a lot of your classes and you also take a lot of religion classes and have a lot of doctrinal discussions with your peers and professors.

This combination of learning experiences results in students analyzing LDS doctrine more deeply than they ever did before college. Not surprisingly, a few apostatize.

  • @iqlusionblogspot Hey this is a good video. The fact is, there are HUGE problems with Mormon doctrine and history. Good job. However, don't reject God. Keep thinking deeply and you will see that atheism, too, is just another cheating religion.

  • @iqlusionblogspot Thats bull. Unless your talking about anti-mormon doctrine. The more someone studies and understands true doctrine backed up in the Book of Mormon and the Bible, as well as historical and archaeological facts, the the stronger their conviction gets of the truthfulness they knew before.

  • I say stay quiet until you don't have to stay quiet. So at the point of graduation or when your grades are coming in and you are still there but graduating. Be super vocal about it

  • Being an atheist at BYU is like being a vegetarian on a cattle drive.

  • What the fuck is this shit?!?! Only thing I believe is that this bitch would LOVE the head of my cock down her throat!

  • obviously someone stole this picture and just put some computerized voice over it saying it's them, it could even be a guy, i work with computers, this is easy to do. Also i go to BYU that's all lies, and if she's going to the football games she doesn't feel like the "voice" makes it seem like, cause even I don't go to the games and I'm an active member haha

  • Don't hide who you are. Be open, and if people have a problem with you, go tell them to read an eighth grade biology book.

  • Well I would ruffle some feather when I started to point out the fallacies in thier doctrines.

  • Just hang in there you live in a bigot filled state with an officially racist and sexist religion (to be fair most all religions are sexist and to an extent racist) move anywhere else and nobody will care if you don't believe in unproven bull****

  • I feel for you. Keep your head up finish school and get out of that state if you can. Bigotry dominates the mormon (and most other) religion and its so full of holes any honest examination of there beliefs would cause a person to stop believing in such obvious bullshi*

  • If you ever get kicked out of BYU, it won't be because you don't believe in Mormonism. It'll be because you're a dumbass.

  • Hasa Diga Eebowai!

  • You are an idiot for going to that school in the first place.

  • @CogInAVice yeah whats wrong BYU?

  • @getdownto311 I was refering to an Atheist going to any religious school let alone a Mormon school. I would probably get kicked out for being Christian thats whats wrong with BYU itself for me.

  • @CogInAVice no you wouldnt get kicked out you would just be in the minority there

  • Morons.. I mean Mormons are a bunch of sheeple that will believe just about anything their told.

I feel sorry for people that take something as truth without any investigation or independent though. Someone told them that "Joseph Smith is the true profit" and they buy into that bullshit like Derpy DERP derrrrrrrrrrrrr..............

  • @SoothSayer79 damn! your so original calling us morons, get the hell out of here troll!

  • @getdownto311 let me guess you must be a moron, I mean mormon lol===>

hey, my neighbor told me about this guy named Phulla Bullschavits, he says he talked to god yesterday, maybe you wanna get some of your buddies and go worship this guy?

He said every single religion on earth is wrong and hes gunna start a new one. No need to ask questions you can just take his word for it. After all its not like he just fell asleep and just dreamed the whole thing up or ate some funny mushrooms or anything.

  • @SoothSayer79 you must have been on shrooms when typing your post, what the hell? your retarded

  • @getdownto311 well no sir no I am not, although it has been a while since i had some good shrooms, ahhh the good old days.. But I can see the way you posted your mormonic reply twice, you yourself might be under the influence of something. Honestly you would have to be to buy any of the fucking bullshit that comes out of the moron religion, lolz oh whoops I mean mormon, see there I go again. Damn just cant seem to get it right can I?

  • @SoothSayer79 damn your sooo fuckin funny again, you must have been on shrooms when you typed this, your retarded!

  • I can't tell you how much i feel for you.I use to be LDS myself.I was baptized at 8 and I finally stopped believing it around the age of 22 - 23.I am just glad I never went to Pricks or BYU myself.Couldn't you sue if they did kick you out? There has to be something to protect you against discrimination.

  • no one cares about your life story. shut up and get over yourself.

  • well there you go...seems like you know what to do.

play the game...cuz that's all it is.

    hey your cute wanna date??

    tee call me

  • You can't change opinions, even warped ones. People who readily believe this already have some built in bias about the church. I know many people who went to BYU and many Mormons, some of the greatest people I know. Not judgmental and very open to alternative opinion. They are also their own people not being "forced" to think some way. Utter garbage. Anyone with half a brain can see this is fake and anti-Mormon doctrine. Please!

  • That really stinks. Hope you can weather the storm.

  • I'm from Provo, I recently moved to Washington, but while I was there, I found that there are actually many people who are in your situation. I have several friends who attend BYU right now, who do not believe that the church is true. Hang in there, if you ever need someone to talk to feel free to send a message!

  • Hang in there, Iq. College doesn't last forever, and you can be yourself publicly for the rest of your life once you've got that degree finished.

  • You're also not very smart if you think the anti-comments AREN'T left by liars. Anyone can say they're in the church and then lie. What's stopping them being totally anonymous on the Internet. Silly humans.

  • This is obviously anti-Mormon propaganda. I know many Mormon's with opinions who are nothing like that mentioned here. I've even gone to their church, seen their conferences, all lies. Sad that someone hates the church so much they'd do this. The members I know are happy, free thinking, great contributers to society. Stop your propaganda and do something better with your time. Start by deleting this silly video.

  • @probrojeffro

Mormors are the most hypocritical shit heads around. They're all zombies who follow what ever the fuck their leaders tell them and treat anyone who deviates even a little like shit. Then they turn around and violate all of their so called gawd's laws. Utter crap.

  • @Shadowlit001 Looks like you've got the market cornered on anger and hate. Why don't you go out and get busy with that. I'd try to talk to you, but your rage and anger has narrowed your mind into a tiny, crusty sliver. God bless and peace!

  • @probrojeffro

Looks like you got the market cornered on getting trolled.

  • @Shadowlit001 Your anger and hate has narrowed your mind down to a nearly non-existent sliver. That type of anger only comes from one source, and it's not God. That being said, God bless and much love to you and yours. Peace!

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 Dubass mormons. Half of the people I see at the bars r mormons. Many of the mormons at byu r having pre martial sex. I went up to byu and slept with 3 byu students that were lds members. u guys act like ur all clean stuff but ur just as bad as the everybody else. We just dont lie about it. Ur church is full of shit

  • @chauncy817 Well obviously if Mormons are going to bars and having premarital sex, they aren't living out the doctrines of the Church. Also, please don't use profanity. There are ladies on these boards.

  • Transfer you dimwit. Have you ever heard of that? BTW. Your mascara is messed up.

  • This video is crap. 1st she wouldn't be kicked out so long as she lived up to the honor code the SHE apparently signed. I say apparently becasue I don't think she is real. You put a pic of yourself with a black stripe going accross your eyes, like that is going to hide your identity. But you disguse your voice like they are going to use voice recognition to find you. Give me a break. My last point is God doesn't run a democracy, get over it. It's only offensive because you don't want to live it.

  • Be strong, get your education and live your life with clarity and not under the spell of a cult.

  • The people that "act" like the church is great, are people that have figured it out. Figure it out.

  • I'm a convert to the church and I came from another doctrine (Protestant). Everyone has that false mentality that "I am right and you are wrong" and hate when anyone tells them, or proves that they are wrong. I don't know why that is, I suppose it is because they lust the power. Now, not all members are like that, In fact I've met several awesome Bishops. I just don't like the people who sound like robots because they were trained since childhood what to say and not know what it means.

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 I would like to know how you think this would make anyone want to join the church. If I wasn't a member, I would hate the church just by reading what you posted on here.

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 So wait wait!!! Live good healthy and do good things. Also not get drunk or get sexed up like rape and so on... So you get all that when believeing in god... Did i get that right? But I don't believe and i don't go having sex on everyone i meet or not live healthy... I am good without god.. So what you say is if i don't believe in god then im bad even though i do everything else right? That's BS!!! I hope i open your eyes...

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 MormonCorp needs more sales people like you! Whoo Hoo! Go get'em tiger! You have the shame thing down to what sounds like a reflexive action. You are a fine example of the powers of indoctrination, reflexively vomiting out judgements and shame. You tell me more about the downside to mormonism that iqlusionblogspot ever could and i could tell that it truly comes from the place were your heart should be.

  • I love how barely anyone has realized this is a fictional account. obviously situations like this happen but still. and half the crap in the description isn't even true you don't even have to be Mormon to go to BYU and I do have friends there that have had a hard time accepting the gospel, their bishops know it and they haven't gotten kicked out for it. just because they're asked to follow a moral code while attending the school doesn't make it a cult. don't criticize what you can't understand.

  • Another bunch of manufactured anti -Mormon crap.

  • I was warned by my bishop, that were I to continue speakin about my atheism, and my questions regarding Mormon beliefs,I would be excommunicated.

Rather than live a lie,I continued believing my beliefs.

I was then excommunicated, and lost many friends, family members and had to say goodbye to my former life.

    It was painful,but worth it.

I don't want to live a lie to avoid conflict.

  • @Politicallyactive101

You are right! The unspoken, unwritten "doctrine" is this:

"You, each of you, bow your head and say 'yes, I will just get with the program: to do otherwise will bring leader-dog conflict, right into my life. Therefore, I will avoid conflict, by not questioning THE BRETHREN, in any way, shape, or form'.'

It really has to do with the Leader-dog Structure of the LDS Crutch and the "King-man mentality" that accompanies it.

BUT, of course atheism will get you kicked out...

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 Spick to us, Spick. Spick some more!

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 Aesop's Fables were real, too.

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 P.S: You're still a dumb-ass Spick. Spick the language, man! Don't just gargle in it, pendejo.

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 Rome was around for a 1000 years: the Roman Empire must have been true, then!

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 A beutiful place to be cleased, huh! dumb-ass spick!

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 I can appreciate you wanting to stand up for the Gospel, but this is not the way to conduct yourself when confronted with someone who simply has other beliefs. I as a member of the Church would not endorse what you wrote. It seems unkind and judgmental, which is something as a member we are not to be. Just because someone doesn't believe in the same things as another, doesn't make them a bad person. .

  • Sigh... been there. It gets better.

  • ALWAYS be true to yourself, the consequences of that will never affect you in the way you think it will.

  • Wow Ahashdah, you just believe everything you read on Youtube? I have a diploma from UCLA and they want to take it back because I cheer for USC.

  • @allmetal71

And, again you miss the point!

Read my other post(s), over again.

  • @LatterDaySaint1981 You need to "spick English" a little bit better than that, pendejo!

  • I know an old man around my age, whose YouTube account name is nucarabu, I think, who said that BYU asked for his diploma to be returned: and, the man is 64 years old!

WHY did BYU want to "take back" what it gave him? Simply because he is now, in his older years, denouncing the church and its hypocrisy.

BYU (and the Chruch, itself), are nothing but control freaks, who want to wreak havoc in the lives of those who don't "quietly and sweetly get with the program".

    Scribes, Pharisees, Hypocrites

  • hey I'm at BYU too, same situation. Its kinda weird being here, but my scholarship and stuff, tuition prices, and friendships are too much pressure for not just going through the motions. Good luck with everything. I'm glad I'm not the only one here. I'll be finishing in the summer. I wonder who else on campus feels this way.

  • If you are BYU under false pretenses you should do the right thing and leave. Man up and move on to a school that you will be more comfortable at instead of taking up space better suited for those who live this gospel.

  • thats horrible to feel that way...you should do what you want...who cares what others think. just be free. don't feel like you have to pretend or do as the church says... just be YOU. thats all that matters...

  • You will not be barred from graduating if you don't believe in the LDS Church. If that were the case, then why would students with different religious backgrounds be allowed to go to school there? You have to sign and follow the honor code, but you do not have to be a member or practice the LDS faith to graduate or get into the school.

WOW! You show a huge bit of ignorance, in your assumptions! Those "non-mormons", at BYU, are simply asked to live the church standards, while there. THEY do not have to believe in the Mormon Crutch; but, members are kept to stricter standards.

There is nothing for non-mormon students to "renounce". But, an LDS student will get kicked out, if they publicly (or privately) renounce their membership, in the Crutch.

  • @Ahashdah I'm showing my ignorance? I agree with you. Did you click on the wrong person to reply to?

  • @Ahashdah - Also, if she outs herself in the BYU (or Utah, or any pro-Mormonism) environment, she opens the floodgates of contempt and missionary efforts and harsh judgments. It's hard enough to get through a normal school.

  • @corabriget That is very, very sad.... but true!

MORMONS cannot stand to have anyone in their midst (viz., among them), who thinks independently, and whose views are "dissident".

To be a dissident is, by definition, a reflection of independent thought: the mormon community will do all that it can, to "shun" that person who voices their own thinking. FOR EXAMPLE: if I were a Mormon, I would not be allowed to say Dallin Oaks is wrong, for telling LDS not to "critique" THE so-called BRETHREN.
