What I am wondering is why there is only one employee in the Apple Store. There should be 7 or 8 asking him if he needs anything (it is a recession so it cannot be 10-15). My friend once counted 25 and on another day I counted 23. At least in this part of the USA anyway...
They like to run windows because they don't know anything else besides windows ... try linux and you will find a new definition for OS and besides that almost all servers run linux, because it has much more security! but if you like to pay 500 dolars every year for a new design and the same OS (besides vista fail) instead of going linux and download designs or make your own... well it's your decision.
Unfortunately there are fan-boys like that on both sides (LordSlag is a decent example of that).
The main reason Apple has such a poor market share isn't due to its product sucking. It's based on how well they penetrated the business market and how they kept tight control over their OS. Microsoft was smart in letting other companies build PC's for them. That gave them a great advantage in hardware and price, but poor stability, which is why Apple has the highest customer satisfaction.
>Microsoft was smart in letting other companies build PC's for them.
Not really
Microsoft sells their OS to OEM manufacturers.
Apple's OS marketshare is largely due to the fact that Apple is one company that sells computers with OSX, while there are many other OEM's on the market that sell windows.
If you look at the hardware marketshares, you'd see that Apple is actually doing well considering the competition. If you look at the financials, you'd see that they are doing exceedingly well.
Apple does really well considering the competition?
Look, you can't look at it from a manufacture against manufacturer, you could do that if they were all running the same OS, but they aren't. You need to look at it as Mac OS X vs Windows, because that's the real difference between a Mac and a PC. The market share winner is Windows because it had the wide variety of hardware and software, Apple didn't.
>you can't look at it from a manufacture against manufacturer
WHY? Apple is a manufacturer and they are directly competing with other manufacturers.
>You need to look at it as Mac OS X vs Windows
No I don't, that's stupid. that is throwing out the fact that it is ONE against MANY. That's like saying that hybrids, like the prius, suck balls because more regular cars are sold. You're TOTALLY dismissing the fact that more regular cars are MANUFACTURED and are on the showroom floor, dumbass!
Because you are just looking at hardware. The hardware between a PC and an Apple are almost identical, it's the operating system that makes the computers different. So you don't compare hardware manufactures when you are talking about software. And Apple did have other manufactures back in the day, but they canned that idea and went solo. They limited everything too much, making it closed, there's no way for a company to win market share that way.
I'm looking at hardware SALES dumbass. If Apple MAKES more than 5% of the hardware sales in the hardware market, then that is fucking fantastic. Look at what the competition's sales look like. With the exception of Dell, HP and Acer, Apple is making more than its share in unit sales for a company their size.
it is unreasonable to expect them to make the sales of Dell because DELL isn't profitable with their market strategy.
The iPhone really didn't pickup momentum until native applications were allowed to be developed for it and a viable distribution channel was setup. Since then Apple has really pushed for app development for the iPhone. Smartphones don't deal much with hardware as much as software. Apple made it really easy to develop for the iPhone, and fairly easy to distribute to the users as well. While the iPhone is very much controlled by Apple, they actually learned from their mistakes of the Mac.
Apple has not made it easy. Compare the app dev and release process for the iPhone and the Android. The Apple developer fees are higher than necessary and the review process is too long.
And if you think hardware doesn't play a part in smartphone design, you've had your head under a rock. Look at the number of different architectures running Android right now. Screen sizes, processors, cameras, all different. Apple, on the other hand, has one, just like their other products.
Pruis is a product, not a manufacturer. You wouldn't compare them to regular cars unless you are comparing the benefits or drawbacks of either. They are too new to the market to grab enough market share. Apple's OS as been there longer!
Plus who said Macs suck? I love my Mac, I just don't like Apple freaks trying to make some stupid claim that Apple has some huge market share in computers when they clearly don't. Smartphones are completely different, Apple does have a large share.
I said LIKE a Prius, not Prius specifically, douchebag.
A Prius is a HYBRID, which is a type of product that has a type of engine and fuel system that makes it different from a regular car that is NOT a hybrid.
Kind of like how a mac is a TYPE of product that comes with OSX instead of windows, which is on many other products.
Under different management. In 1997, Apple acquired NeXT and appointed Steve Jobs as their CEO. From that point onward, the PRE 97 era Apple was dead and the company went through a rebirth.
>Apple's OS has been around since 1984
Apple has been making computers since the 70's dumbass
What you said doesn't matter one bit because OSX came out in 2001 while the Prius was in 97. You said you want to look at the OS market? Well that's when OSX started.
All we know is that Apple is 25 years old and still didn't manage to get more than 5% of the computer market. Obviously computer users are interested in more than just a flashy looking machine and OS.
I love how most Mac users are these sort of, cultish........iFreaks who are TOTALLY ignorant about computers, buy Macs for that reason, and wear that ignorance, willful or otherwise, like a badge of honor.
Or, here's a crazy thought, most people just use their computers as -computers- and don't make it their sole purpose in life to have everyone else get one.
Here's a crazy thought, I don't recall telling you or anyone to buy a Mac.
Here's another crazy thought, when people have a good experience or like something, they like to share it!
For instance. I like borderlands and I like Mass Effect. Everytime I meet someone that games, I tell them they should try out Borderlands and Mass Effect. WHY? Because I like those games and I WANT to share that with other people!
>Here's a crazy thought, maybe I was talking about Apple's customers in general, and not just -you-.
Here's a crazy thought, maybe people that are more pleased with a product are more enthusiastic about sharing it.
>But I let the fuckwit behind the counter at Gamestop tell people about it.
First off, That's you. Plus, I'm not in a gamestop when I'm telling people that they should try it out. Seriously, listen closely when people talk, people suggest products that they like ALL THE TIME.

I like to rip on macs from time to time. Not because their products necessarily suck but mainly because of their messed up prices.
When it comes to hardware, pc's are simply a lot cheaper and offer a lot more bang for your buck.

I think it is silly to suggest that Mac users don't know about PC's when most of us use them at work, at school and even at home.
