allow the components to sit like that for 3-5 minutes till the xbox overheats (you'll get two red rings instead of three eventually). Once it gets two rings, turn off the xboxx and let it sit for another 15 minutes. At which point your xbox should turn on fine. If it does not it is likely that you put too much thermal compound.

I don't agree with the last part of the directions (did not watch vid). If your xbox isn't booting up well and you're still getting three rings then cover up your shorter heatsink (with a CD or something) and put the fan on the taller one to where it is blowing air on it. Leave it for 15 minutes. After that remove the fan from the heat sink (remaining plugged in) (DO NOT allow air to get to either heat sink) and just face it in another direction. (See next comment)

@DMAN3213 Probably. Might not have put thermal compound on correctly or consider investing in a better compound. I like arctic silver 5. Very easy to smoothen out yourself.

1. Either use stills or hold the phone still while recording and talking, stop, do the step, show what you did, talk and record more, stop, etc.

2. Use more than a monotone. I fell asleep half way through due to the monotone and shakiness of the video.

I'm assuming you don't know what you're doing and just doing what someone told you to do. Definitely WILL NOT watch part 2.

You should be less worried about scratching your motherboard and more worried about doing all of these repairs while using a carpeted floor as your workstation.  Static discharge ruins electrical components, not light scratches.

easiest thing to do is buy the inter-cooler, take out the stock fan and let the intercooler itselfcool the system, did it to mine and it works great plus its not that much louder, to do this you must take out the entire stock fan or it sucks

Yeah you need that silver stuff. It is thermal paste and without it (after you take off the heatsink and reattach it) your compenents will fry. So go down to a computer and pick some up for 15 dollars a tube. Don't use a lot though. Hope this helps. :)

@unclebean180 I found the best is no washers underneath the motherboard , and then on the top , one nylon and one metal inbetween the heat sinks... Some people say use 4 washers for each , and sometimes theres not enough contact with the heatsinks causing your machine to overheat...

I had the same problem. I looked at the jax and switched the spots. There was something wrong with the jax inputs. I switched them and they worked perfectly. Just try and find another channel b/c the video will NOT appear on the sme channel. For ex. Component is what i had on my TV and i switched jax inputs and now its on Video. HOPE THIS HELPED!

1:apply a very THIN layer of artic silver 5 to the 2 both the cpu and gpu

2:and apply a very THIN layer to the other chips that are covered by the wide heatsink

3:try using the x-clamps again

4:try resting the motherboard on top of the metal case so that the motherboard is flat

i hope this works as i've alot of experience of fixing xbox 360's and have tried alot of techniques and i have had every error imaginable and i just fixed it today

make sure you overheat it until red lights flash and the fans stop running(will take about 20-35 min) (i used the towel method to overheat) , then let it cool for like 25-30 min. if you dont overheat it, it will still show blank screen. i will post this on part 2 vid also

I think my fan completely crashed. Will removing the heating sinks etc. do anything for it now, or is it too late? When I start it up, I get the fan going for maybe 3 seconds, then it shuts off. luckily the it gives me the 2 red rings, therefore telling me that the fan is broken, so I fry anything else inside

@itsthisbig do the towel trick.. it worked on my brothers 360 pro. then also make a stand for your 360 so thers air movement underneath the 360 dont cover the wholes on the bottom or the centre of it either. the reason why it gets RROD is cuz the chips in it overheat and the thermal paste cant keep them cool. and ther located at the botom of the 360. the intercooler will fry out your fan. and standing it up messes somethin else up but i cant remember wut it wuz

if this doesnt work, you can do the towel method, you might think that is just for RROD, but it will still work. I]If you did it that way, you would have to do the method every 4-7 days depending on how bad your xbox is broken.
