Great story, as usual :) I love to hear about how much of a prankster you were! I wouldn't mind trying the same thing if the police came by my house. Although...I really did set off 2 explosions in my backyard (well, 2 big ones; there were 2 small ones too!). My July 4 tradition is to go to the local fireworks show and video. I decided not to make a bomb this year because I'm too scared! And I didn't want the temptation from buying fireworks.
I was worried when you had parts stuck in the fencing. No real harm done, but exciting. That would be a good time to stop. Believe me I know!!!!!!!!!!
that was a good story, i enjoyed it very much, reminds me of when i was like 8 years old in the 60s. fourth of july i had firecrackers, was throwing them at cars as people drove down the street, got in such the motion of doing that didnt realize this was a police car that just pulled in to our driveway, the cop took all the fireworks and gave my dad a fine, i got spanked with the belt for that little stunt and i never will forget it, LOL its funny now, i am 51 now
I had a few spankings also and deserved a lot more. Years later I would think about something I had done, feel guilty, and then send my Mom flowers. I did this for several years. So much so that my Mom told me to stop sending flowers, if my Mom only knew.
@user12119 i think it is. i have seen a town before that had smoke coming out of holes in the ground. the smoke is toxic sometimes and everyone has to leave. i wonder how the fires can keep burning. i know theres tones of coal under there but how is it getting air to burn??!!
this reminds me of Wes Harrison. I think I will repost some of his sound FX stories. Great funnage, we had an Olson 12V PA amp and horn speaker we put on two lantern batteries in the baskets of the bike, then played Wes Harison through it from a 3" reel tape. I twas fun, also did stuff liek that for Halloween.

He did circle the block. A few weeks later I played it again, about the same results. Then I stopped, did not want to push my luck. Thanks.

Thanks batterymaker
Belleville would be the town you would recognize, and Columbia Illinois.

@batterymaker Isn't that now a ghost town due to an underground coal fire?
