I love the North American understanding of European geography. Portsmouth is shown to be about 100 miles away from where it actually is on that map. But what is 100 miles eh? Perhaps they should replace Portsmouth with Oxford and that map might be about right....
I agree with Hitchens that the president may well be a "closet atheist". If so, he is certainly the first one in quite a long time, but actually some of the earlier presidents were atheists (or, at the most, deists).

Until Kennedy, I don't think most presidents TOLD people much about their religion.
All the american public gave a crap about before that was
-are they jewish?
-are they catholic?
