  • my galaxy s i9000 , officially updated to 2.3.3 , got bricked . please help me which file to choose for pda in odin .

  • @bakarce19 visit sammobile com then click on Firmware and in the search box type in i9000 and choose the rom which suits you. If you choose a firmware which has more than one file then see my other video "return to stock rom i9000" and follow the guide

  • Btw, will it still be rooted?

  • @VeryTinyBee No mate it wont be rooted. If you want your phone rooted see my video (CyanogenMod CM7 Samsung Galaxy S i9000) then once flashed with EZ Base you can move on to any rom of your choice as it will be rooted ;)

  • @puggereduk Well, I figured it out. I rooted it with SuperOneClick, then I restored my old NAND (Thank god). I also flashed CM9, and just skipped 1 single step, and my phone didn't brick!

Also, your video worked, but it was still bricked after (Tho I could get to recovery screen with the 3-button-combo) I had to flash another .tar file.

I really think you should add it to the description:

    forum . xda-developers . com / showthread . php?t=984140

    Remove the spacings

  • After I do this, can I revert back to my old NAND, if I have a NANDroid backup?

If so, thank god, because I can't remember my original firmware, so I just downloaded JPY...

  • do i have to choose the coutry?

  • sorry man for the prev comment, just frustrated that things dont work

  • @saruulsergelen Have you got it working now bud?

  • your fuckin accent

  • hi ,

do i have to risk a brick by updating my phone from 2.2 froyo to 2.3.6 gingerbread? pls reply thnx! :)

  • @kirinoxkyousuke Providing you flash the files in the correct order then you'll be cool :)

  • Comment removed

  • @puggereduk do i need to unroot my sgs b4 updating? also does it erase all my data, apps when updating?

  • @kirinoxkyousuke You don't need to unroot your phone but if you have any lag fixes applied then disable them before flashing! With regards to erasing data, you will loose all your apps and settings (including texts and contacts) so take a note of them! You can back your apps up with Titanium back and export your contacts to your sd card!

  • @puggereduk how do i know if i have a lag fix on my phone?

  • @kirinoxkyousuke If you are coming off a darky rom then there's there will probably be a lag fix applied

  • and do i have to flash bootloader again as it happened while i was trying to flash a new bootloader... or can i simply flash a new pda firmware without bootloader???

  • @shehanms why were you flashing a bootloader? If your phone is in the lockdown state then you must reflash the rom. Flash a new PDA and if that fails then check out my other video "return to stock pt2" and follow the flashing process exactly how I do it

  • @puggereduk no mate .. my i9000 couldnt go to download mode with 3 buttons ..so i did a fix wich requaired to flash the current bootloader to custom 1 to regain the 3 button download mod. . bt it got failed and when i boot i get a (phone ! pc) dats all :(

  • @shehanms OK mate, you need a JIG. Just type in SGS JIG in the search box in ebay. It should only cost a couple of quid/ dollars. When you get the JIG send me an email ;)

  • hii

i bricked my( 2.1) eclair samsung i9000 while trying 3button fix using odin3... is there any way to get it to the download mode without jig.. plz hep me im desperate!!!tnx

  • If your in the UK then flash JVT. See my video (Return to stock rom part 2. Galaxy S i9000) which will guide you through the process step by step. Go to sammobile for the file :)

  • thanx for responding mate i been up two days still a bricked phone. i have odin and i dnt need the jig because i can already get into download mode using odin. i need the file you used to flash using odin. thanx

  • i need your help plaes. i need the file u used to use in odin. please help

  • @cmcdowell1321 The download links are in the description.

  • My galaxy s2 broke down... I decided to make a drop test for youtube...

And gues what only two views

  • Where can I get this Jig?

  • @rosti93 ebay :)

  • Do I put the whole RAR file in odin?

  • @ZuluSomeone you must unrar the file, and put the .tar file in odin.

  • what is that writing next to PDA, and do i tick the phone or PDA box?? please help

  • Wud it be possible to post a new download link for your version of Odin, it looks slightly diffrent to mine wich may be the reason im struggling to do it...

  • thanks man, i must buy you somethin:D

  • @MrLLT02 no it keep stasrting all over agin!!!! PLease help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i do everthing you sa yon the video..:-(

  • @MrLLT02 make sure that you are using the correct files. also try and format your sd card and do a factory data reset then reflash your phone as per video :)

  • I have a I9100G and whenever I use Odin it FAILS :( !!

  • @techfreak47 Are you downloading the correct files. The Galaxy S 2 uses different firmware from the S1.

  • Comment removed

  • @rozaitixl Yeah !! I was super dumb because I used the I9100 Stock ROM in Odin instead of the I9100G !!!

Thankfully... I fixed everything and I rooted again successfully ;)

It's not my phone though.. It was my cousin's and I was EXTREMELY worried about his phone !! It's been just a day since I fixed everything I'm hoping that he'll have no problems or issues at all (Fingers Crossed) !! Also when I bricked his phone it was NEW !! like he just got it 2 days before that !!

  • @techfreak47 Everything fine again now? Good one : )

  • @rozaitixl Nice one buddy!

  • My phone is royally fcked. I can go into download mode, and install ROMs, and it says PASS. But I only get a flashing little white circle, it'll never boot up.

  • @eclipse245 boot in to recovery and format the internal sd card, wipe cache + davlik cache and do a factory data reset. If it still doesn't boot up then try flashing again with odin. If your flashing a rom with more than one file PDA = PDA, Phone = Modem, CSC = CSC, pit goes in pit box and tick repartition. See how that works bud

  • @puggereduk I managed to get something with using Heimdall, I'll figure it out though :P Thanks a lot man.

  • @puggereduk dude any idea why Odin won't recognize the phone when in download mode?

  • @eclipse245 your pc is missing the drivers mate

  • @puggereduk It recognizes it now. Everytime I try to install a stock rom, the phone always goes into a bootloop. Dammit.

  • @eclipse245 download kies now

  • A Big Thanks.

  • Thanks - worked on my T959. Volup plus power put it download mode, and reflashed back to 2.1 successfully. Well done instructional video.

  • ive fricking OWE YOU SOMTHING.

  • When I Start my phone, it won´t even let me see the "Black Screen of Death" (The little phone and computer with alert sign in the middle). Does it still work if I buy a Jig?

  • @djonatankok buying a jig is a must really for this smart phone especially if you get an S2 as it clears the android caution exclamation logo when you add a custom rom. As for it working if your phone is totally non responsive I can't comment on but make sure your battery is charged. Also try holding in the power button for a couple of minutes as this sometimes does the trick

  • please read my first comment then my second

i can get now into download mode but didn't use any jig are something (is it neccesary). i don't know if it is bricked or not. put it in download mode and connect it to pc open odin but dont know what to do know ( i never flashed my phone(ive rooted my phone with gingerbreak))so please tell me wich file to put where and how to get them cause i see in many vids different things please answer me soon so my dad wont find out if he does he slaughter me:-)

  • @EmranMahmoud follow the video from start to finish. Download firmware from sammobile then put the files in the following order PDA= PDA, Modem = Phone, CSC = CSC and if there is a pit file that goes in the pit box and also tick repartition!

  • @puggereduk but ic ant get that yellow icon thing in odin plimping up

  • @EmranMahmoud ive saw in another vid that they said that you must have installed something before on your pc or something

  • @EmranMahmoud when you plug your phone in your pc should automatically search and download the drivers. Try using a different usb port or download kies for the drivers

  • @EmranMahmoud sounds like your missing drivers

  • @puggereduk just found that out it works now thx

  • @EmranMahmoud which firmware actually (sorry for disturbing you so much)

  • @EmranMahmoud you need to pick a firmware that matches your country. The countries are listed on smamobile's site

  • @puggereduk yeah, ive downloaded it. but now odin is stuck right know it was just starting factory fs what should i do

  • @puggereduk

plese help me one for download link...link for file on odin..i try to unbrick my phone..

  • @3r61n all links are in the video description

  • hey puggereduk, i have some questions for you. hope you answer them soon. fisrt my sgs isnt starting up. when i had this phone ive rooted it and installed gingerbread 2.3.3. when i did that the software got a bit damaged. but that wasn't a big problem. cause it still worked except the starting up screen it loade some kind of crashy pic with lots of stripes and colours. but thats no prob. ive used metamorph to install a them when i did that my phone shutr down and rebooted continiously

  • which firmware do u download?

  • @wefdeas It all depends on which country you are in. I'm in the UK so I use European firmware. I think the latest build for the UK is JVT however I run CyanogenMod rather than a stock rom

  • I have stopped at S galaxy s screen.i make all ur moves and i need your PDA im from Macedonia (Europe) so i can use ur PDA right ? plzz tell me ur PDA i dont want to spend money for go service to repair my phone.Thank you

  • @wenxuanwow If you go to sammobile (link is in the description) you can download a European firmware to suit your country.

  • Can i know what PDA you used??

  • @fux818 The firmware you flash all depends on your country. I'm in the UK so I flash European firmware. If you go to sammobile then you can choose firmware to suit your country. If its a single file rom then you place this in the PDA field. If, on the other hand it comes with 4 files then PDA= PDA, Phone = Modem, CSC = CSC and finally the .pit file goes in the pit field and the "re partition" box needs to be ticked.

  • @puggereduk i already flash the stock rom... but the phone is stuck on the galaxy S screen...

  • @fux818 OK, try booting into recovery and perform a factory data reset but failing that flash it again with Odin. It can sometimes do this if you didn't disable any lag fixes before the flash! It should recover without any problems with another flash :)

  • hey will touchwiz 3 be there again????

  • @mrDylan691 Providing you flash a stock rom touch wiz will be there!

  • what PDA you used ?

  • I sent this video to a friend, and it works!

  • @Janineee13 Glad it worked for you :-))

  • bricked mine today...help me with the file you put on the PDA?

  • haha i bricked mine today im trying to fix it

  • You said this works if the phone is soft bricked. What if it is hard bricked?

How do you hard brick a galaxy?

  • @cruciferousvegetable

There are several ways to hard brick your galaxy which will make it un fixable. You could try flushing it down the toilet, putting it in the mircowave for 2 minutes on full power, placing it under the wheel of your car then drive over it. I'm sure with some imagination you could come up with other ways to fully brick your phone :-))

  • @puggereduk Lol. Let me rephrase the question. Is it possible to accidentally hard-brick my galaxy S by rooting my phone?

  • after fixing is touchwiz ui there in the new firmware??

  • I SWEAR! I never would have un-soft-bricked my phone.

  • man, my phone is stucked at KERNEL box in odin... what can i do? :(

  • @zecs90

Pull the battery and make sure that your flashing the correct rom and the files are in the correct boxes

  • @puggereduk thx ! i did it!

  • @zecs90 How did you do this?

  • @cruciferousvegetable i changed the usb port and tried the whole process again and it worked

  • mine use to say downloading target, but now its no powering up or letting me charge the phone what do i do?

  • @1haider786

How did your phone get to this state? More info would be usefull

  • @puggereduk i honestly dont know, it just randomly stoped charging ive been told that i need to flash the phone and its not a battery problem. how do i get it into download mode if its not powering up? :S

  • what file do you use ?

  • @NarutoFan0157

It all depends on what part of the world you are in. If your putting a stock ROM on it then you need to flash the correct ROM for your country. Once downloaded and unzipped from sammobile com. If its a low level Rom the files are as follows PDA + PDA, Modem = Phone, CSC = CSC and your .pit file goes in the PIT box with partition checked. If its a single file ROM then you put the single file in the PDA box.

  • @puggereduk Im in The UK im so desperate to fix it ! and im okay with some tech stuff this has kinda stumped me in unbricking it !

  • @NarutoFan0157

Ok Bud, you can go to sammobile and download JVT if you want a stock rom. JVT is a low level rom i.e. 3 files and a .pit. If you get stuck then email me and I will point you to a download link ;)

  • @puggereduk hey for some reason i cant register could you possibly email me - tazgirl0157@msn.cm

  • @NarutoFan0157 its .com sorry !

  • Hi Puggereduk,

I bricked my Samsung Galaxy Ace while trying to take backup of current ROM using ROM manager. the 3 button combo is not working and I saw people using jigs.

In many videos and post I saw, they were able to get some screen even if they say theirs is bricked (atleast a triangle with a exclamatory mark) in my case i couldn't do anything. its just dead totally. So does this jig work in my case?

    Thanks!

  • @pandurangan16

How did you brick it? If it doesn't power up then take the battery out and leave it for 5-10 mins then put it back in. If it still won't start then keep your finger on the power button for a minute or 2 and hopefully it will power up and give you some sort of screen. The jig will only get you in to download mode providing the phone will turn on.

  • Thank you for rescuing my SGS from the bin.

  • @Vajradaka

    Your welcome :-))

  • i had bricked my mobile...da download mode is coming but odin is not detecting my mobile...plz help my dad will screw me...

  • @myselfmattt

Try installing Kies, then update your drivers. See if that helps

  • Thank you very much for the vid :) and guys.. if this still doesn't work den download the latest odin version and try the procedure. it worked for me :) cheers and good luck :)

  • from where to get this jig

  • i dont have any screeen!

  • @BlackBlueMen

You need to get it back in to download mode then. If the 3 button doesn't work then you will need a jig. Make sure the phone is charged.

  • Can you inbox the link to download the PDA file , i have the ODIN and same problem but i don't know which PDA file u used to Flash !!

  • @Yassh9

Hi, all the files you will need are at samfirmware com. If the downloaded file only contains 1 file then it goes in the PDA box of Odin. If it has more than one file i.e JPU then you will need to use all the files i.e PIT [remember to tick the PIT box too] PDA= PDA Phone = Modem, CSC = CSC. It is important to put the files in the correct boxes otherwise it wont work. If your going from Gingerbread back to Froyo then you will need to flash the 3 files and the PIT :)

  • @puggereduk Haha , thanks but i already fixed it !!

  • am stuck on at&t logo.. wil it work? pls

  • @otzenz

If you can get back in to download mode via your 3 button combination then just flash a new firmware with Odin. If your 3 button combo doesn't work then you will need a jig to force it in to download mode then when your up and running again I would download the correct boot loaders for your phone so you can access recovery/ download mode with your 3 buttons. Hope this helps.

  • @puggereduk thanks, but wher can i get the jig? is it possible to use usb n connect it wit transistor as i can see in some video here? plss or wher can i buy it?

  • @otzenz

You can easily make one but there are plenty on ebay and they only cost a few pounds. In ebay run a search on "Samsung Galaxy S Jig" I bought mine as it was easier for me

  • @puggereduk once i get to the download mode which pit file i need to upload to odin or wher i can get the firmware? plss

  • @otzenz

Your best to flash a 3 file rom as the correct pit will be there. pit.512 is usually the file

  • SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAPTIVATE I TRIED TO PUT BOOT ANIMATIONS ON IT AND IT REBOOTED AND NOW IT REBOOTED BUT THE HOME ROW KEEPS LIGHTING UP AND THE PHONE KEEPS VIBRATING IN OTHER WORDS I CAN TURN THE PHONE ON BUT IT CRASHES AT BOOT UP ALL I SEE IS A BLACK SCREEN WHEN I BOOT IT INTO RECOVERY MODE AND REINSTALL PACKAGES IT SAYS CANT OPEN E.FAILED TO OPEN /MNT/INTERNAL SD/UPDATE ZIP

E.SIGNATURE VERIFICATION FAILED INSTILLATION ABORTED WHAT DO I DO MY COMPUTER WONT EVEN PICK IT UP

  • @mynikes123451

It sounds like you have added the wrong file. I would advise flashing a new rom on to it and make sure its for your captive and not the Galaxy S. Go to samfirmware for your stock rom then once up and running you can root it and install a custom rom if you prefer.

  • Works perfectly!!

    Thank you so much.

  • Good Morning, how I can get this device for activate download mode? how many cost? Thanks

  • @jfajardor9210

  • my phone doesnt start at all, not with any buttons

i checked the battery its fine. bt fone is not switchin on by ny means please help.

  • @mba9377

Have you definitely pressed the buttons in the correct sequence? i.e Vol down [for download] vol up [for recovery] followed by Home then power button? if so and it still doesn't go into download/ recovery mode remove the battery and leave it out for about 5 minutes or so then put the battery back in and hold just the power button in for a good minute or so and it may power up. If not then you will need a jig to force it in to download mode so you can reflash the fone.

  • @mba9377 home button, down, power button

  • if u have a slow internet connection would it take long to update the phone firmware

  • @JeffMwandia1

It would only result in a slower download of the firmware form the server
