  • the vocal range/phonology in the verse at 1:55 is addictive.

  • saw this band live, have the potential to be really good, just have too much going on, less is sometimes more

  • That voice can put angels to sleep.

    Sheer delightfulness.

  • oh shit...must have passed out, cuz when i woke up the video was over.

  • This is something between confusion and pleasure, dry mouth, a wet pillow...

  • epilepsy!

  • Why does it feel like there's hair in my food now.

  • A great way to "come down" from ODDSAC <33333

  • Her rap-type thing at the end is off the chain. It's my dream to do a rap song featuring her and Cadence Weapon.

  • not good at all

  • @deathofHypatia haha, you're a sad person.

  • I saw Braids for the first time last night in Nashville and they were amazing live. Unfortunately the show wasn't promoted very well so there were literally less than 10 people in the audience. I didn't mind that, it made for a more intimate show for me! Thanks for making such drippy, lush music for my ears to devour.

  • :O its steel wool! I dont want to imagine what a baby sliding through that would look like on the other side haha!

  • Found my new favorite band for the time being

  • That one person couldn't handle the trip.

  • great song! unusual video..

  • it loooks like a camrea is going upsomeones nose lol

  • I fell in love with the singer; she's magic...

  • this song makes me feel good

  • Beaut!

  • Birth Canals should never be on fire, nor should they be fuzzy o.O

  • Gave me crazy goosebumps. CLOUDS!

  • This is amazing! how come this is the first time ive ever heard this song?!

  • video looks great anyway

  • Can someone please explain what this video is? The song's great, but I don't understand the video at all..

  • @AlysonL319 even I don't know and I made it, haha. But the most basic story I can give you is that it's a first person view of sort of traveling down this fuzzy endless birth canal and the obstructions faced by the unseen character...just supposed to show a sort of struggle without a true happy resolution..it's kind of dark in that regard

  • @laserpilot That makes sense! I bounced back and forth between a birth canal or some sort of nest made of hair or wire. But that makes sense. Thank you very much! :)

  • @laserpilot you should delete this comment. it cheapens a good video.

  • @JacksonBaker1st Why does it cheapen it?

  • @ShoegazeOttawa By providing your interpretation it makes it seem like everyone should be thinking about birth canals. While this may well have been the inspiration, the video is an open work, meaning that it lends itself to different interpretations. Your comment seems to render these other ways of seeing illegitimate & so narrows the video's scope, IE cheapens it. Look below at how sunflower5678 apologizes for their valuable & interesting interpretation, instead assenting to your definition.

  • @JacksonBaker1st "My" interpretation? I'm pretty sure I haven't offered any. In any case, I'll defend the filmmaker and ask why it should be an open work if he created the video with a certain image in mind. If I say something meaning X, and you interpret it as meaning Y, it is simply a misinterpretation & I don't see anything wrong with my clarifying the matter for you. Given the relation of the video to the lyrics, it seems to me that there are in no way "different [correct] interpretations".

  • @laserpilot Very cool video! Rather than a birth canal, I thought the tunnels were like arteries or veins....lol. Especially the part where the steel wool is blocking one of the tunnels and explodes (like a heart attack or something) and then again when there was fire (heartburn)...but that could just be last night's dinner talking....I tend to get heartburn.

  • @laserpilot

I thought it looked somewhat like travelling through a vaginal canal. I thought I was just being dirty, but it's good to know that's what you were going for, now I don't feel like a perv.

  • @laserpilot So you made the official video for Braids' Plath Heart?

  • @CoIorful Yep, this video was 100% made by me

  • @laserpilot er...did you use real pubic hair? it really looks like you did.............amazing video either way.....for an amazing band.....

  • @laserpilot hey what did you shoot this on and with what lense? thanks

  • @norfunkboy Canon t2i, an assortment of lenses, but usually a 18-55kit lens with a macro lens tube, and sometimes a 70-250 zoom for some of the pushes in

  • @laserpilot okay, gotcha, I was wondering the same. I definitely picked up on the whole "birth" thing when it got to the fleshy liquid part. lol. very much like any discovery channel special on all that fun stuff. lol. Beautiful video, by the way.

  • peach plum grizzly bear

  • ha, i didnt think this album was THAT great.

  • DOES ANYONE HAVE THE LYRICS TO THIS SONG! I seriously have looked everywhere and no one has the lyrics

  • Holy Mother-Fucking Shit... This album it so devastatingly great, it leaves me speechless

  • @byronhilton holy mother-effing shiv... you post this same comment on all their songs.

  • It sounds like robots having sex in the jungle or something.

  • when I hear them I think of = life without buildings/ bjork / warpaint /explode into colors/wild beasts - so much goodness coming out of this band!!!

  • amazing bad! terrible video!

  • @lanquide whats wrong with the video?

  • @hosway1992 too much animal-collectiveness, which is something you don't want to see in a video. eye tiring , although i like the burning pubes. btw i meant. "amazing band, terrible video"

  • no actual vagina was harmed in the making of this video.

  • she's got a little joanna newsom going when she starts singing again around 1:58- 2:22. or is that just what i'm hearing?

  • @Constableticktock1 I agree. I got the Newsom vibe from her, which I really like.

  • Lol steel wool

  • I love this video, this band came right out of Calgary, though they found their music's soul in Monreal <3 Raphaelle Standell-Preston has an absolutly amazing voice, I've looked up to her since I was little, <3 Braids is what I listen to when I wake up in the morning, I am so in love with this band!

  • Female, Grizzly Bear meets Animal Collective. I think I just came.

  • @drewbocop I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME!!!!

  • @drewbocop lmao

  • @drewbocop why say it like that? To be honest I think it is dumb to lika a band just because they remind you of another one.

  • @papppappful To be honest, I think it's dumb for you to reply to my comment. Those are two of my absolute favorite bands. It's a complement you dunce.

  • @drewbocop That makes sense. I didn't mean to start a fight or anything. I was just thinking these guys may be part of some kind of music fad after the popularity of animal collective and stuff. But I saw them live and I liked it a lot. The only thing that put me off a little was the lead singer seemed to have a little too much reverb on her mic to the point where everything was just a swirl of AHHHHAsfmlasdjaslk noises.

  • @papppappful Ah, my apologies for being a jerk. Yes, they are sweet live but the reverb can be a bit of overkill if they're not in the right place...

  • NIKE SB

  • @goodnotgreatt that is my favourite under five minute edit ever and coz of that video i cant stop skating to this song aswell as the rest of there album lol

  • wow.. i just heard this song for the first time tonight on cbc radio 2 ~ Laurie Brown's The Signal ~ she's opened my eyes to many brilliant songs, and this one's the top of the crop!! Once I heard it, I just had to jump on here and look it up.. Laurie mentioned what intrigues her most is how the lyrics in this song continue to elude her... for now, i'll just settle with the freshness of the new sound and lady's unique voice.. Nice!!!

  • like, like!

  • Saw these dudes (well only 2 dudes) in Chicago!

They FUCKING ROCKED (in a nice way)

I hope they get the appreciation they deserve.

  • is that one line shrooming in the wet dark or shooting in the wet dark. dig it either way.

  • @taylertron: I hear "shooting in the wet dirt" but I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out the lyrics for this song.

  • i wish i could like this a million times.

  • 2011 will be good to 'em.

  • It has bit of that special Kurt Weill/Berthold Brecht-Feel... ;-)

    (Pat, Switzerland)

  • Cool..
