Great video and totally agree with you except on one point (in your description) -- that this was a "white woman's" ideology. feminism does often ignore women of colour and as a woman of colour myself (indian), i'm a womanist and a feminist ally. you should read about womanism a bit more because most of the scholars are black women and they focus on issues faced by double and triple minorities (douple: women of colour, triple: lesbians of colour, etc)

@edtastic Anyone can learn history and see how women were treated. Even in 2011 - Women in Saudi Arabia can't drive and they were just granted voting rights. Wage inequality is not just a gender thing. Besides, I don't think anyone is saying a teacher should be paid the same as a doctor. Of course the wage will vary based on the job. The issue is when two people are performing the same tasks and there is unequal pay.
Of course, if two people have the same task and get paid different amounts then that is unfair. But that is a common misconception with feminists, that women are paid less. They fail to understand the different standards and conditions for different sexes. America is by far NOT a male-dominated society. Men lose divorce cases, custody cases, sexual abuse cases, domestic violence cases, anything you can think of. Feminism isn't just about women in the work place. Its about equality and as you even mentioned at the beginning of your video, respect so we're not just seen as sexual objects. Nowadays it takes a quarter of a million dollars to raise a SINGLE child. That's $250,000 per child. She wants to be a housewife, if remotely possible financially, where it used to be feasible to feed a family of eight on one paycheck. Welfare is not some glamorized ticket out of poverty, and many single parents do not want to resort to living below the poverty line just so they can receive govenment assistance. Overall, while some populations of certain industrialized countries are very slowly shrinking, the population is increasing extremely rapidly in most parts of the world. Obviously, you haven't bothered to check the statistics that are available. For example, the population of Africa is doubling every 30 years. The same is true with most of South Asia.

Wage inequality is not just a gender thing. Besides, I don't think anyone is saying a teacher should be paid the same as a doctor. Of course the wage will vary based on the job. The issue is when two people are performing the same tasks and there is unequal pay.
