  • Best opening to a movie ever, & Mary Stuart Masterson is always mesmerising :-)

  • walken is amazing as brad sr, and sean penn as brad jr . one of the best films of the 1980s.

  • top film. so atmospheric. great opening scene.

  • @mustwinder You know when you mentioned Walken and Deer Hunter - I couldn't help to notice that both of these stories take place in Pennsylvania. (If I'm not mistaken).

  • A very moving movie from the 80's, Iv'e watched it so many times, one of the best opening scenes ever. Great acting and a classic. Thanks for posting.

  • Intro parfaite...Un grand film

  • What is a dislike button doing here.?

  • @4hmarcie live to tell was written for this movie, and Madonna was definitely the right choice to do the vocals .. I'm pretty sure that live to tell was nominated for an award.

  • @mustwinder: it wasn't Big Bruce that broke out, it was Norman the youngest of the three Johnston brothers that had the gang. August 1999 he broke out for 19 days, August 15,1999 Norman was aired on America's most wanted

  • What a feeling this opening score gives. It's like, getting the viewer ready for all the emotion to follow.

  • I love this movie, I can barely keep it together in the opening credits, not sure why....

  • Chris and Sean Penn were the best Looking Brothers of the 80s Point Blank -_- (RIP Chris)

  • "Who's thhhhat..?" lol Crispen Glover always played such oddballs.

  • thnx 2 madonna & some song i started liking just now cuz it was the first time i heard it, i am gonna see this LOLZ

  • This film blew my mind i loved it Walken And Penn were such amazing in this movie.

  • Molasses90, you rock for uploading this! So many great actors in one movie, especially Walken & Penn! And for anyone interested in the true story this movie is based on, look up the Johnston Gang or Bruce Johnston Sr.

  • This was filmed in my town, and parts of it were filmed around/at my school. Woah.

  • i am so glad that some one decided to down load this awesome movie because it is so hard to find on dvd.sean penn is so under rated as an actor now days.check out "milk" and "i am sam" two great films.

  • essential viewing

  • Yes! Thank you for uploading this great movie! :)

  • the beginning is live to tell instrumental by madonna good song from a good movie

  • grande film

  • this movie reminds me of my first love and the innocent 80s

  • damn sean was so young here lol. that terry girl is very pretty

  • I like to watch this movie on fall. Probably because I watched it the first time when it was fall. It's a great move, and the songs in the movie are great too.

  • "like father, like son, like hell"

  • @mustwinder He did bust out. From what I could find about the case, It was really a general piece of work. It was quite a large gang, too. Jr went on his own and formed something called the "Kiddie Gang". One reason for the downfall. I don't recall finding out what happened to him.

  • that's usually my approach to a pretty face: i offer them drugs and a smile.

  • you konw when happen you give scecond look.

  • And my main man Reefer Sutherland

  • Wow i forgot Crispin Glover was in this hes great especially in Rivers Edge

  • All about the Bruce Johnston Gang in E. Pennsylvania-Delaware. Heavy-equipment thieves, among a lot of other things. The real story is a lot wilder and way more involved than the movie. Bruce Sr really did try to kill his son, and did kill the girlfriend.

  • The instrumental of Madonnas song is haunting especially when used in this film

  • Thankyou, this is an awesome movie. I'm so glad I caught it on telly late one night. Can't believe it was based on real people. Scary...

  • GOD DAMN FUCKING CLASSIC!!!!!!

  • Yay! I love people like you who upload things for others to enjoy even though you really didn't have to :)

  • ahhh, movies before the technology splurge...great 80's era!

  • Widscreen? it's the year 2011

  • be nice if it didnt keep on stopping. but i know it is a great movie

  • can you plz do the movie 976_evil plz! i need to watch that movie plzz!

  • @thecupcake616 Love Stephen Geoffreys from the 80s. Such nerdy but cute characters he played.

  • The movie is supposed to take place in 1978 but the TV commercial at 11:12 is for a 1980's era Toyota SR-5 Truck.

  • Thank you for posting, I love this movie. Scary how true the whole story is.

  • Hey man you know we got your license plates

  • By far one of the most underrated movies. These performances were worthy of Oscar nominations. The soundtrack is haunting and riveting, as is Madonna's Song "Live to Tell", which is my favorite of hers. Though this movie has a slow pace to it compared with those of today, I never get bored watching it, due to its powerful human element.

  • @4hmarcie No joke. Very underrated movie. The fact that it's based on a true story, and not loosely based like the crap they give you today, makes it have more of an impact too.

  • @sylvermagyk So true!! Glad you agree!

  • Loved it!

  • This is a great movie, i haven't watch it in a very long time.

  • This is a very chilling movie, but it is a very good movie. The tag line says it all. Like father. Like son. Like hell.

  • ALLIS CHALMERS 6060

  • Cool movie, but i don't know why marty's father had to be in it and had to become an even greater whimp.

  • This is an incredibly powerful movie. If you have never sat and watched the whole thing, please do. It is operatic.

  • Movies at this time were epic, music really sets the mood.

  • @jamesellis33

    Indeed.

  • @jamesellis33 you right! this why i like the 80 movie!

  • @jamesellis33 yes when there was so much heart and emotion put into movies instead of endless CGI, pointless, meaningless visuals and no character in the dialouge

  • I love the way they play " Live To Tell " in the background throughout the movie.

  • I ordered the dvd last year after I watched it on youtube. Glad you were able to post it again. LOVE this movie, Sean Penn and Christopher Walken award winning performance!!! "Apartment, car, food, clothes alll that!!! Come back to me, daddy, daddy give me something." Classic line and love the delivery!!!!! lol Blessings ppl!

  • Movies were so much better back then. Retro.

Sean Penn is one of the greatest actors in recent memory, i'll definitely be checking this one out soon! ;)

  • I love this movie...the mood created by the beautiful soundtrack...I will watch this movie anytime it is shown.

  • I think this movie and "Dead Man Walking" are two of the best movies Sean Penn has made so far.

  • Sean Penn is hot!!!! Thanks for posting Deborah :)

  • I bought the opening song from itunes today !! Its obviously Madonna but the guy who did this version is called Doug Astrop !! Great movie and a classic soundtrack !!

    thanks for posting !

  • Great soundtrack, great movie

  • this movie is absolutely worth the buying on dvd!

  • @magicalflow I need to get this DVD

  • I am an intense avid 80's Film Fanatic...Yet I Never seen this....I know I will love the movie for two MAJOR REASONS...1-The Madonna song "Live To Tell", which is my favorite song by her yet....And 2-The very beginning as the camera slowly paces around Mary Stuart Mastersons's face while Sean Penn is watching Her through his car window...I Love You for uploading...Grade A Kudos To You...<3

  • @lcharm17 Plus a fine 80s cast. Stephen Geoffreys, Crispen Glover, Keifer Sutherland, Chris Penn. All very young at the time and went on to become great actors. Except Geoffreys, he became gay porn start..

  • One of my all time favorites! Simply awesome cinematography!

  • I want that instrumental Live to Tell in my life.

  • One of the great films from the 80's :)

  • thanks for the movie!

  • Love this song, it's great

  • @mustwinder

actually, Bruce Johnston Sr died in prison on August 8, 2002

  • Yo if I can go back in time and do him, I would. He was HOT!!!

  • why were the eighties so great?................must be all the fucking cocaine!!

  • yay one of my favorite movies!!

  • i am more into the 80's horror genre but at close range is one of the best movies EVER!!! thanx for putting this movie back up!

  • One of the best parts of the movie - stare between father and son...."Whatcha doing?". Christopher Walken rocks..........

  • i heard about this movie & Thanks for posting!! :)

  • Wow, I think i'm gonna like this movie...especially if it has Sean Penn in it! :)

  • @Lisa1995xxx Thanks, I hope you liked the movie! :)
