  • WTF Disney cartoon by Thames?!

  • @RockhopperIsDaMan It wasn't a Thames Production slide but a 'From Thames' slide. They always did this with imports at that time. I think a few of the regions did something similar.

  • I'm so glad I was a child in the 1970s because this looks seriously substandard. We had Brian Cant, John Noakes and Floella Benjamin and the kids of the 80s had these two losers.

  • im sure that woman is now on ideal world shopping channel

  • @leelouk Yeah, definitely agree! She was crap at presenting then too! lol

  • Those cartoons along with Tom and Jerry and Bug Bunny with Yosamite sam were the south park of that generation.

  • CITV was wicked from 1987-1995.

  • Commodore64 ftw. :P

  • Ah fuck... somebody build a time machine.

  • lol we kno its a joke, but thats still pretty insensitive lol

  • Ahhhhhh-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoooooo!!!! LMAO

  • i can just say gr8

  • Its sad im seeing the word racist banded about so liberally on this comments page. Its just a joke.maybe if some of us hadnt disposed of our sense of humour, the world would be a much better place.I find Pc so stifling. Its like the real oppression we should all worry about.

  • i would of been 3 years old that Christmas. Don't remember it at all!

  • How delightfully racist!

  • That Chinese gag was highly racist...but funny. Couldn't get away with that nowerdays :D

  • i blinked and it was still there

  • Xmas 87 was the best ever. I was 9 years old and I got a ZX Spectrum computer that year. Loved it!

  • i was 7 years old and got a full subbuteo footy set for euro '88 the following summer. i loved that xmas too.

  • chip and dale the racist little bastards! lol

  • Cool...christmas 87. I probably got Lego and transformers that year....apparently I'm to old for that stuff now, and all I get is socks. Damn getting old !!

  • Ok the presenters are disgustingly twee and boring but at least they're better than the modern sarcastic "cool" arse-wombles on kids 24-7 brain-bumming tv these days

  • Ahh remember the good old days with real presenters and real studios!:O

    love it haha

None of this lets stand in front of a screen and pretend to point:P ITS NOT THE WEATHER PEOPLE! lol x

  • Doesn't Debbie Shore go by a different surname?

And didn't she used to present "Open Air" (BBC1 1980s equivalent of "This Morning") and "Tomorrow's World"?

  • Isn't that geezer the Channel 4 continuity announcer nowadays?

  • Yeah it is, I recognised that voice straight away, I always do when it comes to peoples voices.

  • I remember that Donald Duck cartoon moment vividly and have cited it for years as an example of (to quote Peter Griffin) good old-fashioned family racism. How strange to find it on here by accident! Anyone know what the cartoon is called and the year it was made?

  • Never mind, I found the info. It is "Three for Breakfast" from 1948.

  • had to come back......

---- Its weird, If that was it, that was all I had, channel 1-4, that kinda slack, loose, relaxed presenting would be soo cool, id loove that in the morning.

Instead of this massive news, celeb, new album, new movie, new book promo crap!!!

It should be like that, a little program to settle the kids, chill out!

  • Such a more innocent time!

  • The question is, why has the innocence gone, and are we better off ?

  • Yes it was so much better when we were innocent and free to be as blatantly racist and offensive as we wanted. Hmmm......

  • Are we (20-30's) looking back at this like the same way old people look back on Elvis... and the war???

But I think that 1980-1996 the world WAS kinda more into goodness, mortgage deals, less loans and debt commerce, less credit cards, less road rage, less female worries, less young men commiting suicide?

I dunno just what my uncle and dad have said.

  • Maybe, but that doesn't change the fact that most of the tendencies you describe have their roots in the 1980s, and merely took a while to really become endemic.

  • Lovely bit of comedy racism!

  • Debbie Shore is currently a presenter on shopping channel Ideal World

  • I KNEW I recognised her from somewhere!

  • Yes Debbie is a presenter on the Ideal World shopping channel. She also once appeared in an episode of the children's show Rainbow in an episode where Zippy had fallen in love with her lol

  • I remember The High Chaperal as well (i that's how you spelt it).

  • Was Gary Terzza also a Central announcer at the same time?

  • He was. He's been announcing for Channel 4 for a very long time now.

  • Wow great memories. I remember watching that clip, I was 6 years old. If I am not mistaken Gary and Debbis introduced a Christmas movie that day called "A Child's Christmas In Wales". Good movie. Great memories. I wish I was a kid again.

  • I remember Gary and Debbie! Brilliant clip

  • A brief burst of Peter Marshall at the end as well.

  • He does have a great voice (very reassuring), so hopefully it has been put to some use in radio or continuity announcing or the like

  • Now continuity for Channel 4????
