  • @001batchy I meant I have no problems at all with it

  • I'm currently using the PRC 320 at my QTH..great radio,I've used the 320 most of my army lure, haven problems at all with it

  • nice video, just wondered if you have considered the LSB conversion? just got one of these myself and thinking about LSBing it.

  • @thezerocool22 I think If this was my only tranmitter then I would mod it, but because I have other equipment that can use LSB I might leave it.

Depends also on how easy it is and how much it costs

  • Tnx fer info. Quit gd rig for field day activity de oh3lb

  • 9A9A's Antennas are HUUUUUUUUUGE!!!!!

  • Ive got the 352 i want the 320 now! great video Mark keep them coming

  • You are a bad, bad, bad influence. I'm buying one of these things.

  • I don't see it, any chance you could do an outside demo with the supplied antennas and everything? I'm really leaning hard towards getting one of these right now. Also direction to where one could purchase them for the best price (thus far I have only found them on Youtube).

  • @USCOMBATDIVER Sure when I get a chance and its stops raining long enough I'll do a demo.

The basic antenna is a 2.5m whip(nearly 99 inches) there is a 5.4 meter mast that you can put this whip into to make a 7.9m vertical. you can get one from a good guy over here called Graham give him a ring on +44 1362 695939 and tell him I sent you to get a better deal :)

  • whats the diference from a plessey 350 HF transciever?

  • @SCHRUBBE1966 the PRC-350 covers 36mhz to 57mhz on FM -VHF

    The PRC-320 is a HF set 2mhz - 30mhz so quite a lot!

  • Nice video... You'll be after a 319 next hi hi.

  • High power is 30 watts

  • @den10harry Its in the desciption, Thanks

  • And the telephone is a handset GP (general purpose)

  • Excellent vid, I used to teach these fine radios to the infantry. The longest transmission between two of these we did was from West Germany to the Falklands.

I also transmitted from Rwanda to portishead

That thing at the end was a counterpoise which is used for dry conditions where earth plain is way down to be of any use. Therefore the radio makes it's own earth plain.

  • great to see one of these again, kinda makes me feel old knowing these are surplus. Not sorry the days of having one of these strapped to my back as well as my bergen are long gone.

    Thanks for the memory

  • Nice vid,

I have this radio in my collection, as well as the 321 vehicle mounted h.f, did you buy the radio from Johnson's of Leeds? As mine was from there and all repainted! Do you have any other of the "clansman" range? I guess the 320 is the most useable out of the lot! Keep the videos coming!

  • @Chubbster1987 Hi There Alex

I nearly bought one from Johnsons at the last Beltring just gone but I ended up getting mine locally in Norfolk.

So far its the only transceiver I own from the clansman range but i'll proberly end up with a few more to fill the space in the green half of my shack!

    All the best for 2011

    Hi There

What kind of licsense do you need to use this radio ?

Very good vid by the way

    Cheers

  • @xplan200b

    Hi There Rich

Depends on where you are really, If your in the UK you will need to pass your foundation amateur radio license. If you go to rsgb.org/local/ and find a local club that would proberbly be the best place to start.

The foundation is a walk through, a very very simple multiple choice 1 hour exam.

Good luck and thanks for your interest.

  • nice radio, are they readily available? How much would one cost you?

  • @jdotson41041 Hi, the price varies ut they are availible most of the time. i'll PM some details

  • That rig is in lovely condition :) I've never seen one that nice before.

    Have you painted it yourself?

    Excellent video!

  • @lordtapdoles Its exactly as it came to me

  • Nice to see one of these up close :) can that 2khz offset be corrected? and what is tx audio like?

    M1ZXG

  • @Strawberrycream69 Hi, I'm not sure if the 2khz can be changed.. you soon get used to it, I don't really notice it anymore.

When watching the cluster and spot an old friend I just automatically go 2khz up.

The telephone with PTT was in use for the quick qso with 9A9A he thought 5/9+

I've had a few overs on 80m USB just for a trial with a good group of friends, they were all very positive 5 if not 6 reports

I go into more detail with recordings of each mic/headset
