Learned to play the guitar listening to Ventures records, later used the Mosrite Bass in a band in which I played, later went to a Fender Jazz. The Ventures were very much a part of my youth. Greatest guitar band of all time (with no disrespect to Dick Dale)
I remember when my brother's band manager was getting them all Mosrite Venture model Guitars when they were made in Bakersfield. I loved the Double Neck when I saw the Ventures using it.
I know Bob switched, am friends with Don son Tim, have autograph guitar, Bob was quite the guitar player. If you watch and listen carefully, he will play lead on the bass with Nokie and bass at the same time. Check out wipeout in 64, all three are playing the same lead in the middle, have followed the Ventures sense 1960.
@FenrirLupus on the back of the ventures guitar song book an add the ventures play the most advanced guitar on the market today the MOSRITE with patented ball bearing bridge [ they actually said they like fenders better the frets were too close together and the necks wee too narrow on mosrites]
I think I prefer the recorded version but is Nokie not the coolest dude on the planet? When I play their stuff in my bedroom i have to concentrate but he looks like he's thinking what he's going to have for his tea! Does he ever look at the fretboard?
Caught some of his later stuff on YT and he is a fabulous player.
anyone notice that they included something ripped from the Chantay's song Pipeline that wasn't in the original song? Chantays were hot in the early 60's also when instrumental bands were popular. If this was 64, Chantays had pipeline out a year or so before...still, an ispiration to me as that when when I first started playing.
@gbc77000 i have to disagree. I love that big twangy sound of the mosrites, especially for this music. The switch away from Mosrite weakened the sound to my ears at least.
what guitar is the guy using in the middle

@gretschreenactor In this video, they are all using the Mosrite Ventures Model guitar.
