In my opinion this sounds like a mixture of Pixies and Red Hot Chili Peppers. And its not a bad combination. Still nothing really special but this album sounds like its ganna be better than the very bad Humbug.

You sound miserable. These guys are like The Coral. They matured and turn out nothing but tunes day in and day out. Like a Paul weller. Tunes! "until they, get it" i think they did sweetheart and have matured on to a more mature and chord structured sound. Thank God they dont repeat from the ritz or brianstorm. This is an evolving alt rock group sounding better and better with each album...not more accessible.
I REEEEEEEALLLLLYYY like this, just as a one off rather than the whole album... It's definitely a bit of fun for them, and a very enjoyable song but I expect more from the rest of the album :D
Hey, I don´t think that the rest of the lyrics in the album will be like this. This is just a presentation, I don´t think we should take it to serious. And Alex Turner will continue being Alex Turner. Also, I think that there are lots of people that just want to say this song is bad because its new, for example, "Choo choo" is older than this, the lyrics aren´t marvelous, but people say it´s great. Also, we don´t really know if this is going to be on the album...

Don't get me wrong, i'm a huge fan of their older stuff (including Humbug) and i kinda like the new style they are going for. But this is no where near as good as their other work. It's just missing their classic 'raunchiness'.
Have to make it clear that i absolutely love Arctic Monkeys btw. Also i do have faith in this album, i just think this song is poor, especially when you compare it to when they released 'Crying Lightning'. That was a brilliant song and set up a brilliant album
It would be pitiful had they tried to make a second Humbug. So if the rest of the album is like this, it'd be a good step forward for them. But still I think american influence is too present.

Do you think Alex wrote this song or someone else in the band? I know Alex has been the main songwriter for a long time but he has said he would love to see the others write songs. It wouldn't be that odd since they always try new things and completely reinvent themselves every album. This song isn't bad but the music is pretty killer. In contrast to what @ilovefoot725 said, I think not only the song doesn't sound anything like Arctic Monkeys, but also Alex Turner doesn't sound anything like Alex Turner.
Their best album was Whatever People Say blablabla, for sure, and we are not expecting that they play the same songs over and over, but that they keep making the kind of music that first made us all fall in love with it. ++++

@thaissak2 Yes I also loved it, it's just that that it's kids stuff, I still like it but it doesn't fit to my actual lifestyle. I'm not in high school anymore, i'm finishing college, so I need something darker and introspective. But it's just me, anyone can like whatever they want, I'm just lucky that I like this. For example the first and the last album from radiohead couldn't sound anymore diferent, anyway I like them both

I actually amazed at the crap people are coming up with... you've listened to these guys pour out 3 amazing albums and I mean AMAZING albums from which you seemed to gain nothing.. the band aren't kids anymore, they're grown up, they've grown into a more matured style and sound.. yeah, I hope there's more ingeniously witty lyrics in the album to come, but there's no way you can deny how great this sounds.. this isn't the Monkeys demise, or them becoming "commercial", this is them becoming bette

Don't get me wrong, i'm a huge fan of their older stuff (including Humbug) and i kinda like the new style they are going for. But this is no where near as good as their other work. It's just missing their classic 'raunchiness'.

Have to make it clear that i absolutely love Arctic Monkeys btw. Also i do have faith in this album, i just think this song is poor, especially when you compare it to when they released 'Crying Lightning'. That was a brilliant song and set up a brilliant album

Do you think Alex wrote this song or someone else in the band? I know Alex has been the main songwriter for a long time but he has said he would love to see the others write songs. It wouldn't be that odd since they always try new things and completely reinvent themselves every album. This song isn't bad but the music is pretty killer. Sure the lyrics aren't that good but its good they try new things. I think this is more of a filler between humbug and the new album. Great singing my Matt!

@wanabeknut I agree that the sound writing isn't at it's best here, but stop trying to classify and 'genre-fy' this.. it's music, really good music.. I'm not interested in who does it better and who doesn't.. hearing this was like a breathe of fresh air.. I'd rather hear these guys put out music like this and make mistakes rather than a part two to 'Bet You look Good on the Dancefloor'

@ilovefoot725 You might be happy with them trying and making new things, but I (and many others) would be glad to see them make something good. I really really really want this new album to be good. I liked Humbug. It was good for a change. But this song is pretty terrible. It reminds me of Bad Woman. I don't like Bad Woman. Ha. It's not about making the same thing over and over again. It's about making GOOD MUSIC over and over again.

My point is when I was younger i loved Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm not, then a few years later I loved Favourite worst nightmare, then Humbug was like a gift from Heaven to me. It's like they've grown up and I've grown up with them, the first album fited like a glove, now it' Humbug..
