  • i am having a big headache finding the correct notes... i am having an even worse headache playing the whole song..

  • This was written before the Magic Flute, and yes, Mozart quoted it, which was common at the time. While there are some nasty quotes of Mozart dissing Clementi's music, all evidence is that they were cordial and that Clementi did influence Mozart after their meeting.

  • The starting sounds like the beginning of the fugue in Mozart's Overture to the Magic flute! Isn't it?

  • Excellent sonata. Clementi is very underrated.

  • @HenryClarson I agree. Beethoven thought Clementi was better than Mozart. I think he was underrated because he was Italian, not Austrian or German (and not living in Vienna). There are quite a few sonatas and I am trying to listen to all of them.

  • what a fantastic miusic!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Inoltre ha una struttura del tutto diversa...

    :)

    :)

  • Of course only in terms of keyboard works

  • I only recently discoverd this brilliant composer. I am biased towards Mozart and Haydn they are my favourites but i must admit that Clementi was argueably more technically gifted that both

  • Must be a historical piano. Is a half step lower. Maybe a Broadwood?

  • WOw MAn This almost sounds like Dussek :P i like it it's COolio

  • I wouldn't say Mozart stole the theme. Closer is that he stole a figure or motif and took off in a new direction with it. Of course Clementi didn't see it that way.

  • interesting cadenza. Sounds too modern to be authentic. But an awesome performance. I enjoy it!

  • this is the real speed...

  • who is the pianist!?

    excellent!

  • Jos Van Immerseel (Pianoforte by Michael Rosenberger, Vienna ca.1795)

  • this is, amazing, just listen to how clear the running notes are played, the dynamics, and its consistency, this is pro, pure genius! i love it!!!

  • whose recording is this?

  • Mozart used this piece for his Magic Flute Ouverture!!!

  • Yes you're right man...but have you listen to the Mozart'overture? Maybe Mozart "borrowed" that theme, but he made it sublime, splendid, a music for God..in other words we have the genius in one case the good musician in the other...

  • Mozart's ouverture is indeed splendid!!! It's rather strange that Mozart "borrowed" Clementi's theme, though- I read that he didn't really like Clementi much- I don't know why. Anyways, Clementi is amazing- as is Mozart. Thanks for uploading this- it's been really nice to listen to the original theme!

  • Hi Barbara. I have always known about this sonata as "inspiration" of Mozart's overture but this is the first time i listen to it. By the way Clementi looks to be not only a "virtuoso" but an indeed good composer! and listen after minute 3:16...a new style! Ciao

  • Dear Barbara, at that time to borrow themes from other composers was an ordinary practice :)

  • :L I am playing that too!

I'm like no where near that!

It takes him 3:46 to get through 8 pages!

    It takes me ages!:L

  • is the performer playing on a fortepiano?

  • Ahh I'm learning this for the ABRSM Grade 8 thing

Gah, he plays it so fast and well! I'll never be able to get as good :/

  • I'm playing this song, but nowhere at this pace. Oh dear, im f*****
