Thanks for these videos. I'm going to try and patch 6x4 foot area of my garage. Its in the back facing a wall so no one will see the sins of my first stucco job.
Hey kirk, thanks for the tips. By the way you have a really cool name.
Yes I am available depending on where you live. You can reach me at 510 521-9546. The negative comments are usually only on this particular video because it was one of our first videos and we didn’t realize the camera would pick up so much of the outside traffic.
Great Video - ! Thank you for sharing your expertise... Are you available for consultations? I have numerous small repairs that need to be done at my house, and I would love to learn to do them myself, simply for the sake of personal satisfaction. Keep doing what your doing with these videos and ignore the negative comments - By creating these videos your are establishing your expertise with potential customers like me..!
Hi Squash, Your right, This economy is terrible and the sound on this video which was one of my first, does indeed suck. As far as tricks of the trade, I've met guys in my trade who still can't plaster after years of practice. Anyone interested in how I apply my work ethic's may view my work. Do I think they can achieve the same results? (N0). I'm also a expert with nun-chucks, guy's watch me, but can't master that either. I just make it look easy.
Why would any contractor want to show the homeowner a how to video? How will you get anymore work? You are the pro here. I dont get it. This is counterproductive. The construction trade is dead and you are showing the tricks of the trade! DUMB!! Not to mention your sound sucks!!
Good point, however, I am showing our work ethics, It takes years to learn how to apply plaster. I am sure you make your trade look easy too, but the average person won't be able to do it.
@thesquash61 Because u can make money if a lot of people watch your videos.... obviously you know nothing about ad revenue and cost per clicks. This is a great video even though it's not exactly what I am looking for.
@timedriven Thanks for the tips, I show my work ethics to try and explain to potential customers that I am a professional in plastering. The videos places confidence in my abilities which is a benefit to me, especially If I am to remain in the stucco business, which I enjoy.
@timedriven This is my main reason to video the work my son and I complete. It works well that my son Jason loves our trade and builds websites and enjoys taking a break from our chores to video ourselves in the process of plastering. Thank you for the accurate comment and have a groovy day!
Your right the audio is terrible, Unfortunately there was too much traffic on this busy street. Will try to correct this issue in the future. Thanks for the tip.
@GiordanoPlastering : I recommend a wireless mic that you attach to your collar if you have a mic input on the camera. Otherwise, a wired mic directly placed on your collar is adequate but somewhat limiting.
Thank for the tips, Firstly, 3.4 mesh wire is a better alternative to the out dated stud to stud wired used in the 1950's. Secondly, the concrete is covered. Thirdly, I did apply a scratch coat, One of he difference’s between stucco and concrete is mainly the aggregate. Stucco is generally mixed with sand, while concrete is mixed with various size rocks for the desired structural strength. Fourthly, I used a Darby to make certain the wall was true and plumb in all directions. Best wishes, Kirk
first use tie wire from stud to stud that would keep the paper from foldin in second cover concrete and surroundin so you wont make a big ass mess with the cement third its cement not stucco and you shouldnt skip the scrath coat i know you want to save time but do it right forth learn how to brown that wall doesnt look straight to me learn how to use that darby fifth shit im just gonna stop cause im just gonna keep going and going
Nice job. I've always been curious about those old school finishes. I just leraned something new. A good idea when lathing over open frame construction is to first install "Line wire" from stud to stud. That will keep the paper from bowing in on you. It's also alot cheaper than Diamond mesh.
What was that blueish thing you brushed on the perimeter? Was it some kind of glue to make new stucco adhere on older stucco? I couldn't clearly hear the name of the product. Thanks and great job on the repair.
Hi, the blue stuff is called Weld Creat it is specifically engineered to allow a stucco or porous finish to adhere to a painted finish. Great Question, Kirk

Lot of good info, but you might want to invest in a remote mic, especially if the camera is going to step back 5'
