Don't want to be a hater, but you really shouldn't zoom in like that, can't see what the hell your doing half the time.. Apart from that, nice tutorial.
I know if FL there's a much simpler way to do this technique. You just create two notes, one the lowest note, the other the highest note an octave or two up. Then go into note properties for the highest note and check slide. Wallah. A build.
man u got the best voice for instruction. years from now instead of thinking oh this guy sounds like (ive seen rocky, or others) ill think man this guy sounds just like that guy from the dubspot tutorials. did you add some reverb or something i swear it sounds the same way reagan (as in ronald) voice had like this rumble to it. you guys deserve massive government funding keep it up!

Thanks helped alot with what i was trying to achieve. Actually experimenting and shoving the loop button ''on'' simpler worked a treat. Made a phatt build!
As someone who also uses both (most of my videos were made with one, the other, or both), I can say that Live is far better for on-the-spot creation. Record/Reason are great for overall production, but AL8--in my opinion--is better overall. You have just as many if not more options as far options on the mastering/mixing side (you can actually use VSTs), and it's far easier to work with vocals. BUT, I LOVE using both! And, again, great video Dubspot
@MrDetwaa you should check out dubspot.com and click on the link for online course, we have classes available that will cover this but it's more than we can go into here.
@DubSpot PLEASE ANSWER: When i open up my keyboard view to draw notes at top it says 1.2 the 1.3 then 1.3 up to 2 instead of 1 then 2 then 3 etc. Also in botoom right corner where it says 1/4 when i set mine to that it makes it so i can only make long notes where as yours are small. Its all screwed up. How can i fix.
@MrDJBIGFOOT Reason is best for someone who wants to integrate digital production with their existing analog studio, whereas Live is made for someone who wants to incorporate music production with a live performance. At the end of the day, what's most important is picking the software that you're most comfortable with that allows you to create your own, unique sound.
@Lilac354 Fruity Loops is a different piece of software that's also great. Whatever you find works for you in making your music, learn to use it well and express your creativity.
@pinoyjustin I don't recommend ableton for production. the native instruments leave a bit to be desired. I would suggest Reason mainly for the simple fact that it looks cool and it is fun to use - this will get you through the first period where there is a very steep learning curve and then when you are confident or looking for something new you can move to ableton, where looks just aren't that big of a deal anymore. Still don't like ableton for producing though but I use it for djing.
in your group track for drums you have kick, clap, hats, snare. did you create your drums with a midi track for each sample? i have been using one drum rack for all of my drum sounds.. however when i record audio in the arrangement view i only have one automation envelope where as you have different automation envelopes for each sound and i dont understand how you have achieved this.? thanks.

Hey dude, what a great tutorial!!! Many thanks for this very usefull information, I've been looking at how to do this sort of transition between notes and now I know!!! Brilliant, you've made my day! Cheers.
Both Reason and Live are great tools and you can do more or less anything you can imagine in either one ( except record audio in Reason ). I also know abunch of people who use both together via Rewire with great results.
Well i would suggest Reason and abelton really , both great programs, however i use reason mostly and i like it alot , it gives you alot more freedom to do what ever you want but both great programs :)
@tactical92fs I am working with Ableton since early Vers. 6. I'm using it for live and studio sessions since then. I building my own enviroment such as effect chains and midi setups with it. So yes, I've tried Reason also but it fails in the early steps of a project pointing flexibility and midi. Comparing Ableton with Reason is like comparing your bobby car with K.I.T.T :)
He's using four different midi tracks to activate the drums. Say you 808 kit in track 1, make 3 more midi tracks, under "IN, AUTO, OFF" you can choose the output, choose 1-808 Kit. Under that you have to choose the output channel, pick the first for one that way it can output all the sounds the drums has. Do this for all the midi tracks you want, and use each track for a specific drum, ie. track 1 bass drum, track 2: snare... It can be confusing but its simple once you get it.
choose (select) a bunch of tracks (not sure if they gotta be all MIDI) and then right click on any of them on the track label (where the name of the track is) and choose group.
it wont do anything but reduce some space in the interface. you are not merging the tracks and you can later access each particular clip normally (by unfolding first).
if you have live 7 or live 8 le thats not possible. only with live 8 and 8 suite FULL

@DubSpot not necessarily true
reason's synths DO have weaker sounding waveforms and filters
while I'm not saying that it's impossible to create good sounding synth patches with reason, it is a lot harder and takes more effort than using vsti
