This is a major reason why blacks and hispanics don't want to vote for the GOP. It is not about handouts and the role of big government like most Republicans believe. Conservative talk radio and conservatives (I must admit, some of it is good.) need to realize that their base is going to shrink smaller and smaller if they keep criticizing this president on everything. This speech appeals to all children, but as a teacher it motivates children of color more to strive and work hard in school.

I am a teacher and I read his speech and saw nothing political in the speech or any doctrination towards kids. The problem I have with this segment is pretty much a theme with the ed show. He left out the fact that schools were handing out materials that would have ased the kids uestions like "how can we help the president?"

This is what people were very uneasy about. Its true that ppl shouldnt be mad at the president for wanting to talk to kids. But to have the school board ask questions like that has to make you raise ur eyebrows. Da right thing to do is air the spech w/o the pop quizzes of skool brds

I never said that Obama isn't academically inclined. I just can't stand people making baseless claims. I mean, can't say Obama graduated at the bottom of his classes without his school records, but then this guy claims he is the most academically inclined presidents without his school records? yes, but he still graduated from Harvard. That's their point I think. Many presidents come from military backgrounds and have taken part in state government. Some have degrees in medicine. I think their point is that not many presidents have received a degree from Harvard Law.
