I love ESP guitars, I've been playing an Ibanez for years now because that's just what I've had but I Definitely miss my ESP guitar. It was a 7 string, I can just remember the quality. I'd rade in my Ibanez for an ESP any day you have to work with what you've got.
i believe this is the same guy that mindfucked junior and mustaine back in the day when the first time they had to rehearse and he admitted that he didnt know how to play solos lol
@ElvisBluntman777 He could play, he just didnt know the material. To save time, he hired a teacher (an MIT grad by the name of Jeff Young) to learn all Chris Poland's parts for him then teach them to him. Also to write and record his parts for him on So good so far so what then teach them to him. Not sure why he took this route instead of doing it himself. It's not like he's never recorded in the studio and toured with a big band b4. He was in a great band called Malice.
Jay is a really cool dude. I saw him with Metal Church afew years back and he took the time to talk a bit with me and autographed my Malice CD. Guys totally cool.
I'm playing in an ESP LTD bass that my bass teacher is letting me use while mine is being worked on. When I buy another bass, it's gonna be an ESP. (this sounds like someone from the company is having an employee make a post about it. lol)
Jay is very informative & intelligent. He gives great explanations as to why he chooses ESP Guitars. I don't know about you, but he's Always been one of my favorites. guitarists. Malice & Metal Church. All I know is I'd like to see more of him again. He Shreds!!!
Well, with bolt on construction, you do have more posibilties if you thin about it. If iy's lower action you want with one, you can not only do a truss rod and bridge adjustment, you can shim the neck. Personally tho, I prefer set or neck thru body construction.
yeah, i know that, i was just wondering if lee altus of Exodus uses LTD or ESP. I thought I saw in a guitar lesson of him and gary, he was using a LTD model
I wouldn't say he is an LTD artist unless he has said that himself. It's probably just what they had on hand for him to play on for the demo. Or maybe he did the lesson with an LTD model so kids watching could relate and say, well I don't have to buy a $1700 dollar guitar to sound great.
I wouldn't say his an LTD artist unless he said he was as well. Or if maybe his signature model guitar is an LTD. Maybe that's all the had on hand for him to do the lesson with. Or maybe he did the lesson with an LTD model on purpose so that kids watch could relate and say "I don't need a 1700 dollar guitar to sound great."
Actually, pretty much all ESP's are made in Kyoto, Japan. Very few were ever made in the US. All of the LTD models series 400 and up are made in South Korea while all models below that are made in Indonesia.
I own a local guitar shop and honestly the craftsmanship on ESP's is the best I've ever seen, even better than any of the newer USA Gibsons or Fenders that have come through my store.
you know, it wouldn't be hard to make a bolt-on neck guitar with no heel... it would basically be a set-thru but would be more like a "bolt-thru" i guess
kind of, but my idea is simpler. It's like taking a set neck with a dove-tail joint, and bolting into the main portion of body instead of the little flange that most bolt on guitars have. the Invisibolt doesn't allow for easy neck replacement.
Haha, you can never really know too much about guitars ;).
The important thing is that the guy sounded really cool. You would never tell that he was in a famous metal band, not that all famous bands are arrogant or whatever, it's just that he came across as a nice guy with whom you'd be able to have a great conversation with. Attitude beats guitar knowledge imo.

@metallicatriviumPwN Bolt on necks can be shimmed if needed, to lower action.

Hey, uh, Lee Altus uses LTD right. Not ESP? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
morepiepleaseTV 3 years ago
Yeah, but LTDs are ESPs, they're just their "cheaper" model guitar, for lack of a better word.

LTDs are imported. ESPs are US. If you buy US models, they gain value like 5x quicker

But didn't they move the headquarters to CA?
333SlayerCFH 2 years ago
They did but they still make all of the ESP models in Japan. Their HQ is for marketing, customer support, product distribution, things like that.

I like Japanese guitars anyway.
