@SafSuperSaf It really wasn't any scarier than the worst stuff that Disney put into his old movies. Ever seen night at bald mountain?
Anyways, it's common in modern entertainment biz to lame stuff so that it loses all of its edge, so to speak. Old Disney had values, make it entertaining, thrilling, smart. Modern disney is basically the same to kids what porn industry is to adults, make cheap trash that appeals to some very basic instinct in the brain. A quick pleasure without any bigger value.
The movie was not that bad in my book. Yes the actors were all English (creepy) and yes the story was not that of the game. It was an okay story for the movie. Past all these flaws the movie was good
"Prince of Persia; The Sands of Time" is vastly superior to the movie. Vastly.
Disney should have just hired Zack Snyder to do it; he did "The 300," and as a director he has proven skilled at creating dreamscape type movies. "The Sands of Time" played as if though you were dreaming it, the whole look of it which was lost in the sequels. It is arguably one of the most beautiful games ever made. Rygar though gives it a run for its money, so does God of War III.
After watching the crappy "Prince of Persia" Disney movie, I'm scared half to death that "Tron; Legacy" or whatever its called will be pirates of the caribean but in the tron universe. I'm scared half to death....
man, Ubisoft will so do a graphics upgrade to this thing; it would sell well if they did. Can anyone imagine this thing with current gen graphics? It would probably look a lot like Assassin's Creed only more fun.
I playes PoP 1-3 are the 2 newer parts good to play? never tried because I thought the graphics in the 4th part is ... not my thing.. but maybe its pretty good.. can anyone help? thanks
I usually make it a point to play it every six months or so so that doesn't happen. This game is simply incredible...great story, great character development, some of the best platforming out there, beautiful graphics. One of my favs of all time and really underappreciated.
The only complaint I have is the camera, which is flat out atrocious. It needed a few more months in the oven. Other than that, this game is solid gold, and there'll never be another like it.
everybody, take the time to google the game's cover art. Its just sheer genius, I also love the small details. You see a defiant prince doing his trade mark wall running, and if you pay close attention, on his sword you see the reflection of a sand demon. I'm sorry but, the movie just sucked; especially that whole "Dastan" bullshit. The video game prince is much more likeable.
Oh yeah, I'm gonna go to that silly Jake Gyllenhaal movie to see how well the actor played me. yes that's right youtube; I'm the prince of persia, the original prince. Me and the character are one and the same personality wise. Gyllenhaal's performance is pending my approval.
There are few games that actually feels like movies - PoP is one of them. The clever way the creators use the time jumps to play with the plot - I love the fact that the first thing you see is the end. And the cutscenes in the games are incredible - as I said it already feels like a movie.
I hope hollywood has done the right thing by the video game industry and made the movie end the way this first game ends. It's already so cinematic and wonderful; why screw with it? Guess we'll see.
There's no reason to create a POP movie, or a Legacy of Kain movie, or a Metal gear solid movie based on any of the games. I could name other games but these are the first that comes to mind :D
what do you mean nothing , ? wikipedia is not reliable all the times but on basic facts it always is .. this is not about the explanation of the gravity. in wikipedia on the UNDEr17 info and the SoT info they say that UNDER17 have mad esong.. how , and who did firts I have no idea.
I played that game way too much; after I sold it I think i revisited it like, 10 times through rentals.
I should not have sold it period.
Now, I'm too burned out of it to ever revisit it. Fellow youtuber gamers don't you just hate that? You play a great game so much you are too burned out to ever play it again, but you still remember the fond memories and WANT to play again, but are too burned out? That ever happen to anyone else?
gaming burnout sucks; you burn yourself out of a title you can never again revisit it. I suppose though financially its a good thing; you play a game so much you burn yourself out on it, you never have to purchase or rent it again.
once I also got a disk destroyed that way, many years ago, which was Sonic R, but in 2007 or 2006 I found a package of Sonic Gems Collection with 9 games included and that was also included.
Can't revisit Devil May Cry 3 either; totally burned out on it. Ultimately though it IS 50 bucks, now, 60 bucks; burning yourself out on a game is the only way to get your money's worth.
@SycrosD4 Recently purchased "Forgotten Sands;" talk about big shoes to fill, it just doesn't live up to the fairy tale ambience of the original. I mean, Forgotten Sands graphics are shit for 360, and, the Jake Gyllenhaal inspired prince comes across as annoying rather than adorable like the original prince.
I know, right? And, yes, Forgotten Sands was a pretty big letdown. Still fun, but there's no reason why it couldn't have been better than that. Seriously, how can you foul up the combat system from Warrior Within and The Two Thrones?
@pillsburydoughboy47 Yep, with LBA2. Played it so much my disk broke in half. Cant play it again now, cos I know it off by heart and that irritates me.
@vglp33 this game was unique; funny thing about the great titles is that you don't realize what gems they are until way after they're release. Only two exceptions being Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7; the title screen was barely loaded on both of those and I just KNEW they were very special games, didn't even need to play them. Oh yeah and I know how you feel; I wore out the center of my copy of RE4 for the PS2, couldn't see the center artwork AT ALL, worn out.
@vglp33 since you are a hardcore POP fan tell me, IS IT possible to beat Sands of Time in four hours? Best time I ever got was 5 hours and 30 minutes, but I kept thinking it was possible to do it in 4. Well, is it possible?
@pillsburydoughboy47 the world record is 2 hours 6 mins 3 sec, source: guiness world records gamers edition 2008. paul geldrop of the netherlands is the one who set this record. so yeah, i guess SOT can be completed in less than 4 hours. my personal best is 3 hours 15 mins, with all sand clouds and life upgrades. i played it on the xbox
@hrisi117 so it IS possible! thanks dude I knew it; I just could never prove it to myself, I tended to get so addicted, that I sold it before it consumed my life. Seriously man, when I owned it that game was like crack.
@hrisi117 Wow... is that including every Retrieval as well? meaning, if you got a chance to go on with the game, rather then fight, but you're supposed to fight. did you stay to fight?
@FreshPrinceOfHolland in my opnion completing a game means completing it 100%. in sandds of time's case, this means all sand clouds and life upgrades (and magic boxes if youre doing it on the gamecube version). speedrunning and completion are different things. if you speedrun, yeah sure, you finish the game, but not to its fullest.
@hrisi117 you probly didn't watch the cutscenes though, i presume. cause those take hella long. i think they took a total of an hour of my 8 hour record >.> which is slow by itself <.<
@FreshPrinceOfHolland you can check how much youve been playing a particular save by going to 'load game', and under every save, it tells you how much youve been playing on that save. does the game count cutscene time as playing time, though?
@hrisi117 that's what i was wondering. Hmm... I'll test it and come back to you. i'm gonna do about 25% of the game twice. once with all cutscenes and once without. let's see if the time changes.
@Demonhornz yeah really; by the time I finally sold it back in the day, I had beaten both super weapons, I in fact had TWO Knights of the Round Materia, a stable stocked only with gold chocobos, and I think 900 million gil. My party, also, they all had their ultimate attack, and were all at level 99, having recruited EVERYBODY. The cast of character of FF7 was so damned powerful they could have ruled their planet!
@Demonhornz oh you said 6? Sorry I meant 7. I experienced Final Fantasy 7 burnout too; did not really revisit it until its 10th anniversary through emulation. Word of warning regarding using a PS1 emulator when revisiting this thing; the red super weapon is MIA.
@Demonhornz go to atomic roms (google it), in order to run emulators that mimick video games when the 3D era began in the mid 1990's, you need to have bios files. Every PS1 emulator comes with one; the PS1 emulator that worked for me, was the one that has an icon that looks like the original PS1, look for that one. Just extract the bios files to the bios folder and it should run. After that, running the games is easy.
@Demonhornz also, don't worry about the disc exchange; the emulator programmers thought of that one too. When it says "please load disc 2," all you do is go to the file thing, and load it up, and the game automatically continues from there. The PS1 emulator is pretty sweet man; its too bad most PS1 games suck outside the RPGs, the PS1 was arguably the best RPG console of all time. I do miss the 90's when it comes to RPGs.
@pillsburydoughboy47 The PS1 had a great library of games not counting the RPGs. MGS, Tekken, Twisted Metal, Resident Evil, great franchises that started on the PS1
@Demonhornz I also had I think 20 Bahamut materias, and 10 neo bahamuts. When I fought sephiroth, I would eaither just omni slash and catastrophe him to death, and if I was bored and felt sadistic I would Neo Bahamut him to death.
@pillsburydoughboy47 It happened with Tekken 3 for me. I have the game and the original playstation. But its just too much for me to handle. So many fond memories of kicking ass plus there's no music from the game (wire that transmits audio is broken). But man, what a feeling from playing that game. I might give it to my little sister.
@moviemaster77 I mean it man, the Gyllenhaal movie takes a diarrhea shit on the Prince of Persia fantasy, it ruins it so badly, that to recover psychologically you seriously feel compelled to play the game again.
@pillsburydoughboy47 yea thats what happened to me with uncharted 2. I played it so many times that i just cant play it anymore, but i still want to lmao
IDK dude. I loved the soundtracks for both games. Both had their special qualities. Sands of Time had music that stuck true to a Arabian-esque theme, while Warrior Within had a grittier and much darker soundtrack. This was one of my favorite PoP songs.

i like the way this song kept the persian/indian feel to compliment the game XD

I agree, love that it kept that musical feel, and dint like the heavy metal music in later games. =\ could have been better. This song is so awesome.

at first I didn't like the heavy metal either, but I suppose it fit the mood of the game.
