  • Novel concerning the Gaia Hypothesis see book video trailer

  • I'm having trouble understanding why there's a reason for all this sarcasm, really.

This hypothesis is from the 60's. A theory is the highest form of truth in the scientific world, so 50 years doesn't seem that long to me at all.

Gaia is also the ancient Greek earth Titan. It's suggested that this in itself is somehow a problem for acceptance of this new theory?

    I don't get it.

  • Haha! Food for thought :)

  • excellent...but 'jeff' has a nice ring to it also...

  • There's considerable use of irony in this poem - Which (if missed) might be a source of confusion.

I've added the full text in Closed Captions.. Hopefully this is helpful.

  • I don't understand. Do you oppose the Gaia hypothesis to begin with?

  • @canaan1967 He rather seems to be ironical about science taking almost 500 years to find the obvious truths within the geae theory.

Sad but true. Science denies everything that is not materialism, even though materialism itself cannot explain anything involving the birth of life, or the half billion other things that suggest that a spiritual realm exists. In an ideal world Science would have backed off as they ran against the "placebo effect", but alas we are far from ideal

  • @Aerensiniac How exactly is the Gaia hypothesis an indication of the existence of the supernatural? I'm not completely sure, but the explanation appears to be purely naturalistic and only happens to bear the name of an ancient Titan.

  • @Cihl280777 I do believe that there is no such thing as "supernatural". Everything in out existence is based on cause and result. Concepts like "supernatural" have only one thing in common, nobody can explain them with absolute certainty.

What the gaea thesis describes seems to be supernatural to most people, you may even call it that, but its merely a large system with billions and billions of units attuned to each other.

Its a different question, but in this system, humanity is like cancer.

  • Sage precision. Last line is terrific. This is the age of Aquarius with all it's enlightened maladjustments.
