A couple of things I noticed watching this: it seems most of Kessel's goals were scored on the road; and when he scored goals in Ottawa, it sounded from the crowd reaction that the building was full of Leafs fans.
People laugh when I say this, but in some ways Kessel reminds me of a young Brett Hull, the way he gets off a hard shot so quickly, accurately & with so little motion. What he doesn't have, or use, that Hull had, is a big slap shot. I didn't notice one slap shot goal in this video.

@babaganuse It's not about the finish. It's also about defensive play and responsibility. Honestly right now i think the best player on the Leafs roster is Kaberle or Versteeg. Versteeg is a 20 goal scorer who can play all 3 forward slots while at the same time give you a consistent effort on D. While Kaberle is one of the best skaters in the league and has an amazing first pass. When his powerplay time dropped last season so did the leafs Powerplay %. I don't think that is a coinincidence.
@sniperstar Versteeg is versatile, but so is kessel. I've seen him play a lot and he's a lot like grabo in the way that he creates his own offense. Would you say grabo is the leafs best forward? No. You could argue that kaberle is the leafs best player, but his point production slipped the second haft of last season and he seen reduce power play time because he wasn't getting the job done. He's to predictable. Also, he not even the fastest player on the leafs, let alone the nhl.

If versteeg gets injured we'll just replace him with a call up like mueller for a while but if kessel goes down were pretty much fucked in terms of offense. Your over hyping versteeg a lot. His comparable to me is grabo. You'll see when he plays. He likes the carry the puck a lot which leads to turnovers.

@babaganuse It's not about the finish. It's also about defensive play and responsibility. Honestly right now i think the best player on the Leafs roster is Kaberle or Versteeg. Versteeg is a 20 goal scorer who can play all 3 forward slots while at the same time give you a consistent effort on D. While Kaberle is one of the best skaters in the league and has an amazing first pass. When his powerplay time dropped last season so did the leafs Powerplay %. I don't think that is a coinincidence.

@sniperstar Versteeg is versatile, but so is kessel. I've seen him play a lot and he's a lot like grabo in the way that he creates his own offense. Would you say grabo is the leafs best forward? No. You could argue that kaberle is the leafs best player, but his point production slipped the second haft of last season and he seen reduce power play time because he wasn't getting the job done. He's to predictable. Also, he not even the fastest player on the leafs, let alone the nhl.

@babaganuse When i speak of versatility i also speak of how Versteeg can play on the Leafs PK as well as PP. A 20 goal scorer who can also create his own offense although not to the degree of effectiveness of Kessel would be better in my books. imo i just like my complete players And when i say Kaberle is one of the best skaters it isn't just in speed He can just plain out skate well His point production seemed to drop off as he was uncertain to his future with the team. Anyone would be shocked

@sniperstar If your in love with complete players then gunnarsson should be a better defensemen then kaberle but he isn't. Kessel is far more important to the leafs then versteeg. If versteeg gets injured we'll just replace him with a call up like mueller for a while but if kessel goes down were pretty much fucked in terms of offense. Your over hyping versteeg a lot. His comparable to me is grabo. You'll see when he plays. He likes the carry the puck a lot which leads to turnovers.

Kessel should certainly be a perrenial 30 + guy. He had 36 with Boston and he still managed to score 30 after missing time last year. Especially since he really had no one in Toronto like he had Savard in Boston.
