Hmm. You'd think they'd inform the public of a test. Whats the point of an emergency alarm system if theres no way of knowing whether there's a legitimate threat or an insignificant unannounced test. Are there different sounds? I hope when an actual nuclear disaster occurs I'll know not to shrug it off as a test.
On Noverber 9, 2oclock the EAN (Emergency Action Notification Network will be doing their test on TV and radio Stations, it may be a great idea to test the Pilgrim Reactor Sirens 15 minutes before the EANN rings
@scienceboy639 This is the area where the english first came to settle america. At the time it was under their control. So it makes sense they named places after the country they came from.
By the way, when I heard 'em being tested the last time I was in Carver, after the test was over, the announcement of the test being completed was announced. I believe you left out the test completion announcement.
When my family came to Carver, MA for a day in the forest for a little fun, they tested those in Carver, MA in the Myles Standish State Forest. The one in the area of the said forest was activated for testing at 11:00am in July 2010
@garsofwar5 my family was seasonal there when i was younger...i basically grew up there...and nothings changed a bit... i hear ya on the financial thing tho....thats our reason as well
What makes me angry about these sirens is that unless you're close to a siren, you can't hear the beginning "this is only a test" part, and you hear the siren, then nothing directly after the siren stops. So people hear the siren and think it's a real emergency. They should say that it is a test again IMMEDIATELY after the siren stops, when everyone's attention is gained.
My god that siren is annoying. Anyway, I'm glad I stumbled upon this because when I was little I saw sirens on poles all the time when I was in the Plymouth area, and I always wondered what they were for. I also used to always hear sirens going off that weren't fire engines, but I couldn't tell what they were. Now I know :D.
Whoever says that Modulator sirens are poor quality are wrong, because this siren sounds very good. Also, the worst sirens in all existence are ATI sirens.
Excellent video of the Modulator! Some of the best quality I've ever seen! If you come across any more sirens on the test day, we'd LOVE to see your videos of them! Keep up the good work! :)
Cool now Im not the only one with a talking Federal Signal Corporation siren..you know since it being a NUCLEAR plant you prob should stick to the siren & not tape anything else.
You could have been charged as a Terrorist & thrown where the sirens don't shine. They take security round those sensitive area's seriously
Actually, as long as he's on public property, there's not much they can do. Photography in public places is a First Amendment issue and has plenty of case law to back it up.
I feel sorry for you guys... At least I have whelens.

This is the exact noise I just heard about a half hour ago. Should I be evacuating or something? I haven't seen anything on the news.
JohntheCrawf 3 months ago
@JohntheCrawf I wouldn't, probably just a regular test.

If he is on public or private property....he is not causing any harm to anyone. Its just a siren. He is not filming anything else.

paintdataint 2 years ago
Yes, that's the main disadvantage of these sirens, but so far, they're better than ATI.
