where is a good place to buy inks? I don't see any on the games-workshop page and I don't want to buy actual ink by mistake, or is what your painting with actually ink?
Sometimes its better with black prime for all kinds of figures, exampel. I painted a dwarf slayer for my friend and he had it primed black, when I would paint the set of teeth I thought it would be a hard challenge to get thouse right, but. When I applyed the white paint on the touth parts it just laied its self just right so that I could see the forms of the teeth whith dark lines, not hard black lines. =D
Even the experts sometimes prime in black: Check out the "Squeakthrough" on Steve Deans Gallery and you'll be amazed how colorful black primed minis can be. ---
If you're in the UK,on sale in Argos is a half price Dremmel type tool for £10! Watch your fingers if you use the cutting blade though- it's not for kids.---
Brushes: Winsor Newton Galeria brushes are superb.
I'm putting up a priming video very soon, but I suggest you spray prime the figure first, then use the cloth head without any compound to buff it up, you can't go too wrong that way. You'll see the dull spray finish "shine up" a bit as it smoothens out. Compound can be too abrasive unless you're extra careful. For plastics, I stick with the bare cloth head.
