of course it spun all four back wheels didnt u hear, 6oo hores wich is way underated for a 572, its pushin at least 800 bone stock and that sounded no where near bone stock, and didnt u see the 250 shot of nitrous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
@MadMilitiaMen they do pretty well man sep for the gas mileage but then again i dont think there ever was a good true muscle car that had good gas mileage
@ebrandon10 whats with the hostilities man, plu s i think your half right the buick GSX was a badass car but i still like the 70 dodge charger R/T better
@PeaceLovenHippie1 Yeah, now chevy makes better V8s but back then Dodge and Ford were better. Dodge made the mythical 426 HEMI, the 440 magnum and the 383 V8s, Ford made the 427(425 actually) SOHC, the Boss 429 and the boss 351 (most powerful small block of the era) Chevy just added bigger engines. The chevelle 454 is the most powerful muscle car... but it's also got the biggest displacement. Dodge and ford made almost the same HP with smaller engines.
@machone7I are you sure the most powerful was the chevelle i allways thought it was either the 426 hemi charger or the pontiac GTO. well i guess you learn something new everyday
@PeaceLovenHippie1 The 426 HEMI was pretty powerful, with around 426 hp, though they say it was underrated. The 428 FE was also an underrated engine, it puts out over 500 hp at the flywheel, but it looses a lot with those crappy old transmissions. There also is the 427 SOHC, wich actually was a 425 wich had 425 hp on the rear wheels. But the most powerful muscle car was the Chevelle SS454, with around 435 hp. But it was a big and heavy, thirsty, slow revving engine,
@machone7I The 427 "Cammer" wasnt put into any production car and it was discontinued after NASCAR changed thier rules witch made it unable to compete so the production was ended and the remaining engines were sold off
Now the engine with the most potential was the Pontiac 427 HEMI also a SOHC engine theis engine was build WITH the MOPAR HEMI team AND the PONTIAC engineers it was ESTIMATED at 640Hp but that like most other estimates of the day was probobly an understatment
@TheWolfpire I dont know if there was a difference between the 427 cammer and the 427 SOHC, being this last one included in the famous 1960's ford galaxies and the shelby cobra 427. I haven't heard of that pontiac HEMI engine, though, as a pontiac fan, it seems interesting, Though from old 1970 TV shows that have been uploaded, the "most powerful engine built to date, so is the heavest" is the Boss 429.
@machone7I 427 "Cammer" is the SOHC but as i said it was NEVER put into a production vehicle as a stock engine.
The Pontiac 427 SOHC HEMI was developed as a group venture with both Pontiac AND Mopar enginners but for whatever reason was dropped before they got past the prototype level but as i said it was only estimated at 640Hp witch like most engines of the day was probobly a lowballed guess seeing as allmost all of the engines back then ran more Hp than advertised.
@TheWolfpire Yes, As i said, the 427 was used in 60's ford GTs, shelby cobras and the famous Fairlane 427. The ponitac/mopar HEMI was indeed a high performance engine, but that one was never put on production, not even in racing. I know the Ford 427 was superior, but due to costs, it stopped being sold, but during 1963(or 62, not sure) to 1964 the Ford fairlane 427 was sold. They had stock the SOHC engine, with 425 stock horsepower.
@machone7I the SOHC 427 was never put into any vehicle that ford sold in was an over-the-counter crate engine only and while you could probobly get it dealer installed back in the day it did not come in any car from the factory and as i said as soon as nascar changed the rules witch made the Cammer an ineligeble engine they imediatly ceased production, so while it was a good engine it was never really meant for street use they only sold it to meet nascars 500 units in public hands rule.
@machone7I Even with the base Boss engines the 427 was always superior to the 428,429 and even the 460 in stock form, the 427 was built to be a race engine from the beginning so is was all top-of-the-line parts design and manufacturing, but due to this it cost (roughly) 800-1000$ for ford to make a 427 but only 2-400 for the replacement 428 witch was a completely different engine only sharing the 7L displacement the 429/460 was the same a new engine design
@TheWolfpire And still, i dont know why you tell me the 427 was superior, i know it was. And i know that a ford 427 wont have anything to do with a ford 428. Though the 460 was a bored 429. I know displacement doesn't make an engine the same as othe engine. So i don't really know why you posted that last comment.
@machone7I i am not positive about the GT40 but i know the engines in the Cobras and the Fairlane/ torino were not 472 DOHC but a 427 FE side oiler. the 472 DOHC was a prototype but the FE 427 was put in a lot of cars, My dad had one in a Torino back in the 70's. just wanted to make shur you guys knew the difference.
@cadillaccomaro I think Ford only made one 427 and that was the Cammer. But i'm not sure... though, it was used in nascar, and it was a very powerful engine, so it's very likely to be in the GT40
@machone7I do your research on the internet or a old shop manual and you will see that ford made a non SOHC 427. it is in the same family as the 360, 390
, 410, and 428. sorry about saying 472 DOHC i meant 427 SOHC in the last comment. the plane 427 still kicked ass and in my opinion is better than a 460 except for the price difference and availability.
@cadillaccomaro I've read that the SOHC 427 was based on the FE 427, though it used different parts, and had a system to keep it well set up at 7500 RPM.
@TheWolfpire don't forget avarage car only cost 2500-3000$ back then so if the were spending a third of the price of a car on the engine how much you think it would cost to build with todays prices?
also another reason that ford switched from the 427 was that they were losing 500$+ on every engine they sold to the public du to the extremely high production costs
Holy Shit! a 572 big block, goodamm! Thats the biggest motor that chevy produces. 600 hp and 550 torque out of the crate. The 572 is the most badass motor at the quarter mile.
@justin0185 idk if the drinking and building would be the smartest idea cause we would probably end up with a 6 wheeled ford festiva and alot of spare parts that were supposed to go on
@TheDmantheman100 Yeah my bad, I thought there were two dually axles in the back. Didn't pay too close attention. But then I'd be replacing four instead of two. lol.
