I don't know about DOA1, but as a fan of 3, 4, and ultimate, the DOA series is very masher friendly compared to street fighter, tekken, KoF etc

Ooo this brings back memories! This was the first game I had when I got the Playstation. Till this day none of the other DOA's have gotten me so hypnotized as the first one. I must have been 10 when I got it. I spent so much time, I unlocked all the costumes, Ayane and Raidou. Hard work man. Kasumi, Ayane and Lei Fang were my top ones. FREAKIN LOVE THIS GAME! The irony: I'm a straight female xD Cracked me up because I was like "O_O THEY DON'T BOUNCE LIKE THAT USUALLY"

i got this in a xbox bundle called dead or alive ultimate i tried this and i was like crying trying to beat it

Interesting note: Dead or Alive on ps1 is based on Dead or Alive ++ Released on Capcom ZN arcade hardware (ps1 based)

Dead or Alive on Japanese Sega Saturn and Xbox (Dead or Alive 1 Ultimate) is based on the original Dead or Alive on Sega Model 2 Arcade Hardware (VF2 Hardware) which has much better graphics then any home version.

Also the ps1 case has screenshots of the saturn version not the ps1 (notice different life bars)

The backgrounds are 2d not 2.5d its just a 2d texture.

There is also a port of this via the Dead or Alive Ultimate compilation for Xbox, which is available for pretty cheap nowadays.

I agree about the difficulty. Fighting game AI is usually pretty cheap and annoying, (nothing beats human opponents of course) but this game does take things a bit too far. It's good, of course, but I had much better luck with Tekken 2 and 3 back in the day.

I remember when I was thirteen I saved up about a hundred dollars in allowance to pick this and tekken 3 up. When I finally got them. I went home and played tekken 3. Since that was the one I wanted the most and it was a great game anyway. But when I put in DOA I was shocked over how much more fun I hade with it. I must have clocked over a hundred in it!
