  • This video was fine. It's NOT too fast at all. Simply hit the pause button and complete the stitches Gale has instructed, when finished, hit play to resume her video.

Thank you Gale - my flower is soooo cute and I got it on the first viewing.

  • this video is not clear and to fast

  • yes thank you and it's so easy

  • to fast

  • This is very helpful! My first one turned out sloppy but now I've made quite a few and they're starting to look like yours!

  • just tried your tutorial and i think i must be messing up somewhere despite pausing at every step as my one doesnt look like a flower it just looks like a circle with gaps in it. tried it 3 times now could anyone explain where i might be going wrong

  • Just made this flower using your tutorial. I have never crocheted before, and I did it perfectly with your guidance! Way to go!

  • Thank you for making it so simple to follow!! :)

  • Thank you so much! This is a very easy guide to follow. :)

  • Thank you!

  • Work with this tutorial..thanks

  • Best tutorial I have seen and I have been looking for ages, I'm very new to crochet and most books etc are just too complicated for the beginner, Thanks and please keep making videos

  • thank you soo much!! quick and very easy!!

  • I've never crocheted but c there r different sized needles. What size needles did u use?

  • Help me out! sorry if i say this wrong.. the circle has 10 stitches and were making 5 petals.... so on the video i tried to count how many stitches you used in the petal if i guessed right you used 4? well how do you make 5 petals with 1o stitches?

  • @itsASH2013

She uses 3 stitches (double crochets) for each petal. The circle of 10 stitches in the centre is used as follows:

Start by chaining 2, this is not in one of the 10 stitches, then,

in stitch 1- 3 double crochets (stitches if you like) with a chain of 2 on the end of the last double crochet (stitch).

in stitch 2 - a slip stitch followed by a chain of 2

in stitch 3- 3 double crochets (stitches if you like) with a chain of 2 on the end of the last double crochet (stitch).

  • @itsASH2013

in stitch 4 - a slip stitch followed by a chain of 2

in stitch 5 - 3 double crochets (stitches if you like) with a chain of 2 on the end of the last double crochet (stitch).

in stitch 6 - a slip stitch followed by a chain of 2

in stitch 7 - 3 double crochets (stitches if you like) with a chain of 2 on the end of the last double crochet (stitch).

in stitch 8 - a slip stitch followed by a chain of 2

  • @itsASH2013

in stitch 9 - 3 double crochets (stitches if you like) with a chain of 2 on the end of the last double crochet (stitch).

in stitch 10 - a slip stitch to finish.

I hope that explains how the 5 petals are created. There are 5 sets of 3 double crochets (forming the petals) and 5 slip stiches/chains (forming the sides of the petal, allowing space for the 3 double crochets without puckering).

  • I really liked this video. You helped me a lot. I'm very new to crochet, and I think seeing someone show me, is easier than trying to start in a book! Keep up the good work!

  • So easy thanks! Please do some more crocheting videos. I saw ur how to crochet heart and it was easy too!

  • i replayed this video like 10 times and the first flower i got 7 petals and the 2nd flower i got 6 petals. oh well lol

  • thanks! I find visual instructions much easier than written! this was a great help. :)

  • Best tutorial ever!

  • Thank you for creating the easiest to understand crochet video I've ever watched. Very nice! :)

  • Thanks, very helpful!

  • You are a perfectionist.... I don't even kno how to crochet but it looks easy and simple how u make it look...everyone else goes to fast..thx for this hunni :)

  • great instructions, thanks!

  • thank you very much for the video

  • How would I make the petals bigger? Mine look smaller than the circle...

  • The sound didn't seem to work on mine, but you showed it clearly enough anyway. Mine worked out well, thanks for sharing!

Oh yea, what does 'dc' stand for?

  • @heather2k2002 Double crochet

  • @dryppnwet ah ok cheers :-)

  • ...sniff...mine didn't turn out to be a flower...it was a circle...

  • Thank you so much!

  • She's not going too fast if you know what you're already doing. If you know the basic of crochet, you should be able to follow along with the audible directions and the visual directions instead of relying on just one.

  • Mickey Mouse 3:27

  • thanks so much. my first attempt at following a crochet pattern and really successful. just the job. x

  • Cool . Thx you so much

  • Good work for your first video!! Thank you for the tutorial!

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting! much easier than i thought it would be. =)

  • Lmao were using the same hook and the same color

  • Thank you so much!! I'm new to crochet and wanted to make some flowers to decorate a pillow I had made for my best friend. I looked up various patterns but couldn't quite understand how to do it. I also tried looking at some other videos, but I they didn't tell me enough of what I wanted to know. Your video helped me so much! I can now make some flowers to decorate that pillow! Thanks! :)

  • Great video, much better than others I found for a flower.

  • Okay, I've looked at like 5 videos and this was the only one that I understood! Great video! I completed a flower for the first time! It doesn't look so good, this is my first time crocheting, but it still looks like a flower and I'm still proud of it :) Thanks so much, you gave me a great start on crocheting in general.

  • very very good video not long learnt how to crochet and i have been looking and trying to do loads of flowers and have got them wrong and your flower is the only one i have gor right frist time :) so will be doing more of theses flowers :) thanks so much and hope you do more videos :)

  • Excellent. Slow, clear instructions, I crocheted along, only stopped and reran a stage,3 times. Result my 3rd ever flower. Brilliant.

  • I agree, this is excellent. I looked at other videos and this was the easiest to follow. I haven't crocheted in years and I got it right the first try! Whoo!! Thank you very much for your video. I'm going to put my flower on a hat I knitted.

  • EXCELLENT video! It was very easy to follow and understand. The written directions were a great added touch. My flower came out perfect and it took me less than 15 minutes to complete! I'm going to make another one (or 2) of different sizes and colors, layer them, add a button in the center; and sew to the crochet hat I just completed. Thanks for the vid!

  • It looks so easy. Just too fast to follow. This is exactly what I'm looking for.

  • This is tooooooo fast for me

  • Thanks for the tutorial, i am making baby shower gifts and these flowers on cute little hats are going to be adorable.!!!

  • Thanks for the tutorial, i am making baby shower gifts and these flowers on cute little hats are going to be adorable.!!!

  • Thank you for posting how to make a flower, these lessons are really helpful! Now off to make a 5 petal flower! =0)

  • i like this version of the flower better

  • Found this one easier to follow than some of the others, but i did make one even if it does look abit demented.

  • I think this is a tutorial for intermediate crocheters who have followed patterns before. The stitches are basic but she's quite fast. I have followed a pattern by tjw1963 and it she was slow and thorough but it took me three hours, for one flower! This one took me 20 minutes! It also looks better and it's practice for rounds. Thank you!!! Using this as decoration for a knitted scarf.

  • ææh, i just gave up! :((

  • you are a great teacher...I like that you go at just the right speed to keep up and actually see what you are doing. thank you so much!

  • This was really helpful. Great instructions. Thank you.

  • thanx

    its an easy tut

i make it byt it was a 3 petal not 5

    thnax again

  • Enjoyable.

    I want more please

  • This is a great video :) There are so many on here regarding flowers, but yours I caught on FAST! Thanks so much.

  • That was fairly easy. Thanks very much. I surprised myself!!

  • This was the best tutorial on how to crochet a flower--the others where confusing--THANKS!

  • thank you! you are an excellent teacher!

  • Of all the crochet videos I tried this one was the only one I could follow because it was so clearly presented. I'm really thrilled to finally have a crochet flower. Thanks.

  • This was just GREAT! so clear, simple and at a good pace to keep up with, and the printed instructions so go along with it is wonderful. Thanks

  • thanks so much i used this for my junior cert home ec project it was so easy :D

  • Yes I did it ! And I've never done any crochet before, except for a small scrap to practise the two stitches needed for this flower. Thank you so much !!

  • tad fast but great tutorial

  • I Love crocheting flowers. Maybe you could show us how to incorporate some beads into them

  • Mandy, your video was very easy to follow! Super cute flowers!! Thank you =0)

Any chance you have a "how to make a baby blanket" video??

  • fuck dis fast video

  • I do not really get the 'answering-thing' here on youtube either, as you can see -.-

  • I did not really get the part with the petals. I managed to do my circle perfect, but the petals just look like big ugly knobs! Could you make a slower video focusing on the petals, so it will be easier to follow? I am not sure where to fasten the petals to the circle. Maybe you could make an even biger flower so it will show easier.

I am supposed to make like 50 of these for my sisters wedding (I was a true crochet-pro once, but I have forgot!!) so please help.

    Anyway great video! :D

  • I'm lost about the petals. Could you make a very slow and simple 'walkthrough' with the petals? Maybe make a bigger flower, so that it is easier to follow. The circle I managed to do perfect, but the rest just look like big ugly knobs. I am not sure were the petals are fastened.

    Anyway great video!! :D

  • yes! I did it :)

thank you for this video... I can do some crochet but didn know how to make a flower! some 'pauze and play' and I think I cn make it one my own now... you teached me in like 5 minutes! great job! :-)

  • How can I get these instructions printed/written?!?!

  • Mandy's Favorite 5-Petal Flower Pattern

    Materials:

Any size hook (depending on what size flower you want)

    Any weight yarn

Rnd 1: Ch 5, join into a ring w/sl st in 1st ch.

Rnd 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 9dc in ring, join to top of ch w/sl st -- 10 sts.

Rnd 3: **Ch 2, work 3dc in next st, ch 2 sl st in next st** five times. Fasten off.

  • @LittleBirdieSecrets This is a GREAT video. The best flower crocheting tutorial I've seen around. Thanks! :)

  • @LittleBirdieSecrets THANK YOU!! :D

  • Awsome!!!! thanks

  • Thank you for this. I found them easy to do from your instructions.

    Well done.

  • Eventually I managed to do it. The circle was fairly easy. Had to have several goes at the petals as they weren't defined enough, turns out that I didn't put the slip stitch where it should. One petal is a bit bigger than the others but my next one will be perfect. I feel quite pleased that I managed to do it. Had to watch the video several times! I hope to jazz up my scarf.

  • Can only do the circle bit so far...:-)

  • gonig too fast with the petals!

  • mine came out with 8 petals but thats ok cuz it still looks nice THX

  • thanks

  • Please make more crochet vids...i subscribed to you....this was the easiest and most detailed tutorial I have seen yet.....

  • Thank you so much. I have been trying to make a chrysanthemum dishcloth. I now know what I have been doing wrong.

  • Great video thank you.

Very easy to follow in real time.

  • I think you did a great. Very easy to follow. -Clcortez99, pause it if someone is going to fast. until you catch up and then hit play. :)

  • finally i got a very pretty flower !!!....thanxxx!!... ( it´s not fast really... just pause once in a while and u´ll get it !! )

  • the video is great but for me that i'm trying to learn is a bit fast for me to learn. if you do another video teaching slowly would be awesome.

  • you're going way too fast. :(

  • @clcortez99

you can use the play and pause... I did and it was a succes, I had my flower in like 5 minutes, really try again!

  • @clcortez99 : I agree< mine looked like a ball of crap....terrible...try slowing down or repeating steps twice before blazzzzzing through

  • @clcortez99 Well it does say 'quick' tutorial! You can just pause the video and catch up, that is what I did anyway :)

  • @clcortez99

    pause button

  • @clcortez99 You can always pause!

  • thank you so much!!!! and yeah your kinda going wayyyy to fast next time keep your fingers out of the way and do it slower, especially for a lot of beginners watch these kind of vids!

  • I am learning how to crochet, PLEASE PLEASE make another video and slow down, you are going way too fast. Thanks

  • Thank you lovely tutorial, now I know :)

  • Thank you so much.. this is great.. but can u tell me how I would add another row of 5 pedals? The second row being a little larger then the first.

  • I tried to watch 3 other videos and yours was the easiest to follow! Thank you from a beginner!

  • Very neatly explained. I'm a beginner and found this tutorial excellent and so easy to follow. Thank you so much !!!

  • Thanks so much for the tutorial.

  • great video - just what I needed to learn to crochet flowers!

  • slow down!

  • Thank you so much! I have never crocheted in my life and this made it as easy as cake. These flowers are great!

  • Thanks this really helped! i made two of them.. i felt making the pettals is lil tough to me

  • @went06 thank you this was so helpful im new at crochet and you will be happy to u are the one to show me how thank you once agian would definitly like to easy progets to do by you

  • Wonderful tutorial and just what I was looking for! I kept trying with a pattern I found and it never turned out - couldn't figure out how to get 10 dc when my starting chain was only 5. Now, thanks to your video, I know what I did wrong! *grin* I didn't have to crochet into the stitches....just under them.

  • can u make a vidio for croche flower for begginers because u r doing it too fast xx

  • thanks so much!! i have tried other flower patterns before, but yours has been the easiest!

  • Thanks So Much For This!! Super cute and easy!!

  • Thanks for the awesome tutorial! :)

  • I definitely agree. This is the easiest pattern I've found. Thank you so much! I'm going to have so much fun with these flowers.

  • Thanks I can't wait to make thesse they are soooo cute!! ;D I think this is the easiest pattern I have found! ;D

  • Haha! I got it! My problem was the slip stitch too!

  • Mine looks more like a snowflake than a flower....

I think I'll have to practice this a few times before I get it figured out...

  • Thank you, yours is the first video i tried to make a flower with, it took me a couple of days to work it all out and practice the stitches but have finally made a red flower! now i've mastered the slip stitch, that was where i went wrong initially. but following this i have been able to make it!

  • It looks nice, but where are the instructions to making this flower?

  • Thanks for this :) Very helpful! My first attept is a little bit squashed looking, but I'm sure I'll get better with practice. Any advice on keeping the tension even? I was finding it a little difficult especially with the double stitch, but perhaps that's just because I've never done those before?

  • thanks a lot!! it came out great!

  • For some reason when I try this...my flower comes out with 6 pedals...5 makes it look incomplete. What am I doing wrong?

  • Easy and cute! I was looking for a pattern and here it is. Will make more :)

  • That was the simplest and cutest flower crochet tutorial, thank you very much! :)

  • Hi Mandy, thank you so much! I have been trying to work this out on my own and got nowhere. You have made it so easy. Have just finished my first flower to attach to a hat I made - I can't believe how fast it was. Am about to make more to attach to hairclips for my wee girl. Thanks again!

  • Mandy, this was an awesome video tutorial. I have never crocheted before and wanted to learn. This was so easy to follow. Thank you so much!!!

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial. It was so easy to follow. You were specific on what to do, and the video was clear. I was wondering if I linked a video on how to corchet a hat, you can demonstrate as a tutorial. It's a beret and the video is very fast and not so helpful when it comes to showing the details and being specific. Maybe like a step by step tutorial. Thank you. So great!!!

  • The flowers was really pretty but the video was abit to fast..x

  • thanks alot for this video it helped soooooo much and can you make another video about crocheting :D

  • this helped so, so much! I thought I knew how to make flowers before, but I was seriously doing it wrong, haha. just curious - the number of chains you make is how many petals there will be, right? (you could chain 7 and come out with 7 petals, for example.)

  • i just made one whoopie i feel so good only been crocheting for a week so my flower isnt perfect but its still so cute :D

  • wow! those are so cute! i cant wait to make them! ur instructions are so easy to follow!

    XxX Erin

  • I love this pattern! I looked at several other videos before this one and they were very hard. Yours is simple yet super cute! I can't wait to make a bunch for my daughters hair clippies and hats.
