I gotta admitt I'm just not a fan, the style of marching is really cool, and they do it better then anyone else could, but that style limits what they can play, and it's all one volume, loud as hell, which is cool, for about 30 seconds. I get it's college it's supposed to be loud, just not my thing. I wouldn't say they were the best band though,in the big 10? yes but nation wide? Maybe they make the top 10, and that's an awefull big maybe. that's not a dig on UW, there's just a lot of good bands

@pvtcairns Well, not every band need be corps or military style, and not even the Big 10 bands are all alike. Wisconsin does what Wisconsin does...and they do it better than any other band. At least...any other band outside of HBCU. *cough*Southern University Human Jukebox*cough*

I was in the Penn State pep band at Wisconsin this past fall and had a great time! The fans were nice to us and it was enjoyable watching another schools traditions! We had great weather too and the city was great to walk around in especially with that farmers market at the capital! Good Job Wisconsin!

And yet, the Camp Randall sound technicians insist on playing canned music over the PA whenever there's a third down or break in action.

I'm shocked that I noticed that they weren't there last weekend.

Now, the Badger Band missing from a basketball or hockey game... that's a different story altogether.

Yes. That's the part I can't stand. Not because of the music, because it is so loud. Camp Randall is a whole lot less fun without the band.

IMNSO, the operative word in "marching band" is BAND. Any bunch of hacks can march (what you refer to as walking, I think?) but the music is what sets marching bands apart, not how "physically demanding" a show is.

There is NOTHING like the 5th Quarter after a Wisconsin football game at Camp Randall stadium...Wisconsin band is not the biggest...but they are the BEST! From a loyal Washington Huskies fan....

That's a lot coming from a Washington Huskies fan. I glad somebody outside of the big ten thinks the UW band is the best. Win or lose, we'll always have the better band. And win or lose, there is always a 5th quarter. We'll always have the best fight song and mascot.
