  • Remember when people read books on books?

  • Not bad book... For interactive books - the future. I advise everyone to download the Selfish Giant - fairy tale by Oscar Wilde. This is a super-duper appstore. Movie is somewhere on YouTube.

  • Real books are so much better

Apple is taking away all great literature esspecialy THE ARTS

  • i don't read know books, yo

it's got all sorts a pichures

    lol this guy

  • @DickKnowsBest lol no one says that, but he.

  • It's very cool, and I love it. But it's not a book, it's a textoon.

  • It's very cool, and I love it. But it's not a book, it's a textoon.

  • iPad books have come a long way since Alice came out! Check out the reviews over at AppCheese. com to see some examples.

  • im grown up si i am not going to read this book.

    FAIL

    AMERICAN FAIL

  • Can you get college textbooks on the IPad?

  • @carter4594 Yes exactly, is there any college text books available?

....yeah, and BTW reading children’s books isn’t something to be ashamed of!

  • hello - not being mean or anything bad.... but.... do you not have a real job? (genuine question)

  • @pofrani I would hope he does if he can afford all of this shit he buys.

  • Excellent demonstration. It please tell me in that they developed it to software. I look for who develops my App. Thanks to share it very well

  • This is a perfect example of a bad adaption of a book, not actually paying attention to the text but playing with toys. In order to be immersed in a story u have to imagine it your self with your own images.

  • Ahhhh! Read the book. Read the book. READ THE BOOK. It's one of the best books ever written. People from 10 years old - 99 years old agree. Stop making video reviews of apps for books you aren't reading, and start reading the books instead. This one especially. My heart is breaking watching this.

  • @travixity No because he ain't readin' books and proud of it, chooo..

  • Jajajaja los negros no saben leer.

  • great review thx mang

  • Very cool, can I ask you wich software you use to join the booth videos?

    Congrats

  • "I am a grown up so I am not going to read this book."

Wow, there goes 150 years of great literature. And the illustrations are John Tenniel's from the first Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Call that progress? Or genius? No, Lewis Carroll was a genius. This is a toy.

  • Wow I wanna buy this for my ipad now. And the format of this book isn't epub but it's just an App. That's why it's on the screen along with the other apps.

  • Pretty depressing how you keep emphasizing how you're not a reader and have no intention of reading the text.

  • Hey, i wonder, do you have any ideea about the program in which this this ebook was developed? I mean is it a normal ePUB ebook, pdf or is it an application that is just sold as an ebook? Does anyone know the answer? You are geniouses if you can answer this, i have searched THE ENTIRE WEB for the answer to this one, with no luck!

  • @dvishor It's obviously a custom-developed program, since PDF and ePub only supports static embedded images and videos. You can see him launch the custom application near the start of the video. As for how they did it, it's some sort of application with a couple of basic features: a viewer that shows a static image for the background art and text for each page; and various physics simulations where they can load object-graphics per-page and set up their properties such as a chain's attach point.

  • any other interactive books or magazines, guys? and can you get them for iPhone?

  • nice video, you can buy USA iTunes gift cards at this store, they are legit USA iTunes Gift card store, they deliver to me by email, and Fast, my advise to you :)

    - iTunesGiftSCards?com

  • cool thing

  • thaattl b a night mare for pple with add

  • cool demostration ,but why spend $500 in a device that not support flash videos??

  • @listcode Because we CAN!

  • cool

  • i want and ipad soo bad

  • i lovee the ipad...i dont have an iphone, or a macbook...ipad is the perfect device for mee!

  • @DickKnowsBest hahah, that's hilarious :), I love it

  • Is that book browsed from the application iBook? Or is it a standalone application book?

  • Ehh, the Alice book is okay but the toy story book is really what is amazing, it puts movie scenes, motions, and speech into it's book.

  • ** This is the fastest Method to Jailbreak your IPAD or IPOD - unlockipadfree (dot) net

  • now what is the BEST??? the iPad, hp slate, exo pc or the WePad????

it bugs me that the iPad 64gb is not upgradeable and it has no USB to use an external USB-harddrive.

    answers please

  • You are so BIas! apple fanboy

  • "Evolution of books" More like an artists interpretation being shoved down a child's head. A kid should be able to read a book and use his or her own imagination to interpret what the author writes. Furthermore why pay for a book that's already released on various open book projects such as Gutenberg project that releases well known classical books to the public for free and it the book itself is in its original format.

  • @DarkWolf80s If Lewis Carol wasn't interested in "artists interpretations" he wouldn't have hired John Tenniel to render the illustrations in the first place. Besides, no one is "forced" to buy the book or the iPad in the second place.

    No need to fret.

The past will remain accessible to those disinterested in exploring the future.

  • Funny... He said I dont read books but I like the pictures hahaha. Good thing the IPad is not only a book reader other wise it would go no where. But I stilll return mine because of the wifi issues.

  • @niinjoosum You should return your router because of its wifi issues. Or not jump ship because of a little glitch. And/or read apple's troubleshooting page.

  • lol very neat idea but I don't think I could finish a book like. The little motion things are gonna make me lose concentration and I'll forget what happened the last page lol. That's just me cuz I'm not a book reader either haha

  • @DickKnowsBest lol your named just made my day

  • yeah i have a question. Is it possible to controle the touchscreen of an iPad by using your penis? I have tried it with the iPhone 3G but the screen is too small. Help plz.

  • @1313bazooka HAAAA

    STRANGE THING TO ASK!

  • Your shirt is so awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg ibooks is so amazing!

  • Lol, remember when people just read paper books? man... those were the days.

  • i am a kid and I CAN READ IT TO MYSELF thankyou

  • I would love to read on the iPad.

  • @DickKnowsBest haha he says it like it's one work (Y)

  • Alice in wonderland not for grown ups??????? for real?

  • You wana say that you change you beautiful book to this crap ?

  • seeing this kind of stuff on the iPad is very interesting, its gonna change books and magazines for sure. opens a big creativity door for publishers

  • Kindle? What Kindle? :P

  • soldier do a tutorial on the imac on the basic applications. I'm crippled and can't go to a apple store for classes. I just need the basics I had a mac duo years and just need a refresher thanks

  • @jeffxl12 if I may suggest, go to Apple US website / Find Out How section.

There are literally hundreds of tutorials there, all nice and informative.

I was able to use my mac from day 1 just like if I would had it for years. Although I'm an IT technician and software developer. :)

  • @zelehun I had a mac years ago. Shoot I was using a mac se when I first started and a megabyte of ram was 1$ a megabyte. boy how time changes. thanks for that but what program people using for video editing?

  • @jeffxl12 Yeah I know the feeling... my country's economy sux so I was collecting money for a mac (that was only seen in TV shows) for 10 years...

Back to the topic, you need iLife09 (specifically, iMovie), it's included with every new mac. If you need high-tech video editor (for me, iMovie is more then enough) go for Final Cut Studio. Also, look for "iMovie 09 guided tour" here on youtube.

  • Now that the iPad's out I might actually start to read eBooks haha.

  • i love this. can you show us more with different free books?

  • Thats dope.!

  • WOW

  • How much are the books each?

  • this actually makes me want to read books again

  • THAT is awesome

  • The moving candy looked fairly real. It also has smooth animations

  • omg they moved ipad launch back to late may in canada

  • omg they moved ipad launch back to late may

  • @cooladethe1 yeah I know. :( Europe getting faked up too. At least you are closer, cross the border man :P

  • @zelehun i no they say that usa's demand is too high for apple to keep up with

  • @cooladethe1 at least it's a success, but still jealous as hell.

  • @zelehun yeah but still what the hell looks like all the other countries do not deserve as much as usa so thats why im trying to get the ipad by ordering it to my cousin then they send it to me

  • this is pretty cool and with these types of book parents can really get their children interested in reading

  • nice

  • question: is there a book mark you can place? what if you want to refer to a quote from the book? LIke for a real book, i tab the page, and ill refer back to it whenever i need to. Any tools for that application?? thanks :)

  • I never understand what you say in the first line! "hey wats goin utube", and then I lose you!

  • pee

  • thats pretty fucking cool!

  • The print industry will resist any change to it's business model. Just the same way music industry reacted to MP3s.

  • His videos are "awesome" when you turn captions on!! :D

  • hey soldier, i've been subscribed to you for over a year now and i think i am commenting for the first time. i really like your work but i have an advice for you. read books. life is about books. you learn a lot from them. You learn life from them. So don't just say i don't read books, it's a shame. People should read to lose all ignorance. Thousands of people are watching you and you should be role model for some.

  • @floydian5 Hey Soldier says he likes magazines better, that's his choice and just as useful a way to learn and keep in touch with different parts of the world. It's more ignorant to tell everyone they have to be just like you.

  • I thought you're 30s...

  • nice one ;)

  • @markml27 yeah maybe you wouldnt want it in your life but look at the people who have them, so far from what i have seen everybody who has had one has loved it. Maybe i am wrong about that but this will revolutionise the tablet wrld but you know apple the first product isnt always that great anyway. There are tons more things that apple will put in this and i reckon that they will do it fast because the slate is coming and so is another one from arcos.

    thanks

    Will

  • This is the first thing apple has released in a while, which even if I was a billionaire, I just have no urge to buy it! Why would I need or want that in my life^^^??!!!

  • Wow, this is really cool. ^^,

  • Now i'd buy a book like that, I do not read book's, but this would make me think about reading book's again,

  • Using the what? Azecelerometer?

  • I still prefer paper book

  • you should rename yourself, SoldierKnowsApple.

  • You're like a big kid. Shiny and glossy things impress you easily.

  • @TK3C LOL

  • if i buy a book u wanna read it, not move things around the screen

  • Waa? Loser! Alice in wonderland the book is fucking epic! It's a mature book really. Trippy as hell, man.

  • This is some really great stuff and the iPad hasn't even been out that long yet. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this awesome device!

  • can you tilt a clock in a normal book?

     don't think so lol

  • i love this! i wonder if there is one for the very hungry caterpillar :D

  • ... making life greater with every product ;)

  • @marioman130 how did you do the apple picture..?!?!?!...??

  • @lemonshoes1212 you hold control/ alt and shift and press K only on mac though.... duh

  • PEOPLE! read BOOKS not IPAD's!

  • @tempest19922508 times are changing... time to evolve

  • @marioman130 ...for the worse.

  • paper book will never go =) paper has life time without charging..ipad about 10hrs

  • Evolution of books...more and more visual until it becomes a movie

  • That is so BEAUTIFUL! I loved and kids will enjoy so much when things like that become more common! The grown ups already enjoy, imagine the children! I don't think they would substitute books, though. Books will always exist, at least for a while more haha

  • I thought u were older

  • That;s so sick!

  • iPad: Evolution of headaches -_- i guees my eyes arnt made for reading on these.

  • Reading books is awesome, and i'm a huge tech geek. i don't understand why people don't read books. their fun. except when they suck. then you wanna just crawl into a hole and die....

  • Me encanta como se ve este libro, ojalá y todos fueran así :P

  • Books for the ADD generation...

  • @ferociousfrankie You spelled ad wrong.

  • awesome!

  • just more B/S to distract readers from the actual story.

  • @revolution1940 But perhaps not! If seeing the clock (for example) gives you a sense for what is described in the story, might it not draw you in? Or entertain you further? It's not a distraction unless one makes it a distraction...and if one wasn't going to read the story anyway, there's an interactive wall to play with.

  • wait it appears as an app? u dont have to open ibooks firsT?

  • @tcottarel some books are apps such as kids books....if ur looking for New york best sellers or any other kind of book like that its iBooks

  • yeah its kinda cool. seems sorta gimmicky. as if this is aimed toward kids, well lets just say if i had kids they would NOT be fuckin around with my $500 iPad ;]

im with you soilder i aint gonna read that shit either lol.

    b.walker*

  • Yes, the novel has really been improved by placing a bouncing jar of marmalade on the eye-melting LED screen. Progress!

  • Yes, there is an iPad store, I see it first thing when I click on the app store on my iPad. Also, there is a Bible for the iPad, actually 2 which are called The Bible HD and the ESV Bible for iPad.

  • WOW, that was awesome, haha, no joke, I can just imagine how much that would blow my mind if I was an 8 year old again lol

  • I'd love to see an iBIBLE!!!

  • cute toy..

  • Even though this looks extremely cool, I think it takes away the real meaning of reading a book. I know that with this application, I would care more about the interaction than the actual story, and I believe that that defeats the purpose.

  • it's a very nice toy

  • It would be cool if there were touch interactive items instead of just using the accelerometer. This could make picture searching books as well as books with flaps really fun for young readers. Although the iPad is not targeted towards toddlers.

  • Wow, thats really cool! :)

  • Great!!!

  • animations are laggy and sometimes obscure text, perhaps could be done better to simulate pop-up kind of pull out tabs or tilting the ipad to change a 3d angle, but otherwise a neat idea

    reading ftw

  • wow nice!

  • magazines are gonna be epic. then we will finally have some kind of sexual content from apple. maxim, SI, playboy, playboy, PLAYBOY!!! lol

  • @JoeTNoonan27 imagine interactive BOOBS!!! lol

  • I got tired of the wifi dropping issues and screen touch issues and returned mine today. First time since 1984 I have returned an Apple product.

  • Very nice Mark. Looks fun!

  • :O 3d pop up books!!!!!

  • more OVERPRICED apple crap......... only fan boys would waste so much money.... apple will NEVER drop the price because all you clowns believing that their junk is better than windows junk..... I bet with the rite commercials you mindless drones would suck cock... if an add told you it was cool.... wouldn't you??? mmmmm steve jobs cock mmmmmmm...... take my $2000 jobs mmmm

  • this must be the ADHD book app

  • wtf @ 1:33? pills in alice in wonderland???

  • erm,,,,,to be honest, if you get out of your house, go to a wh smith, go to the kids section, you will see a crap-tonne of kids interactive books ACTUAL BOOKS.

this is a decent idea, but the real thing is better.

  • wonderful for parents who read bedtime stories to their children or for children who love to read, its really cool

  • The cool factor of the iPad just keeps going up for me. Come on Soldier read to us. lol

  • @MarkPMus Agreed and well said.

  • The interactive bit will be infinitely more useful for magazines.

Articles could be expanded and improved with clickable links, videos, pictures sources, related articles, etc.

Even Facebook integration. Imagine yourself reading an article in whatever it is you read, and clicking "I like this article" or something like that.

But magazines will soon become completely obsolete.

No point in distribution, because the web platform is easier, and most people will have access to the Internet by then.

  • @HiJackXD. Maybe if you read one from time to time, you wouldn't sound so ignorant.

  • fuck books they suck end of story

  • Reading books is empowering, 1337Sweden!

  • i dont want that shit on the screen ok the interactive PICTURES are ok, but not the damn watch or the stupid mike and ikes flying around.

magazines with videos (no control just loop or soemthing) would be pretty cool

  • New macbook pros

  • Why do so many techies on YT not appear to value reading? I have read comments like "Who reads books these days?" I am a techie myself, but I feel I have to strike a blow in favour of quality reading here. If the iPad encourages a few more people to read it has done a good job, but so far the reviews I've seen have all shown a lax attitude to novels and been more in favour of the gimmicks, which will surely become passe soon enough.

  • @MarkPMus Reading books is so booring...

  • @1337sweden We grown ups read books

  • @MarkPMus so true. im obsessed with everything electronic, and the one thing i like just as much as cool electronics is reading, anyway, i dont think soldier really has a good view on the book part of the ipad, if he doesnt read the books, how does he know the screen wont hurt your eyes, or if there are some kind of glitches

  • @MarkPMus yeah i know what you are saying. i don't read all the time but i like to read. it passes time when you're bored and tired of doing the same thing over and over. and expecailly in school.

  • @MarkPMus Agreed. I have yet to find one blogger who is an avid book reader to get into the reading experience vs "oooo-shiney". What I want to know - can you read and enjoy it for 2-4 hours of reading in a variety of settings (sofa, bed, waiting room, desk, plane, outside). Does the technology get in the way of reading? Yeah, it is kewl that the "pages" flip. But what of the glare, brightness (albeit adjustable), can I read several books and each be bookmarked?

  • @MarkPMus I agree.

Alice in Wonderland is not only for children. There is a lot of value for adults as well. Besides, if you give it a chance you'll notice things like... say, that the author is actually somewhat of a pervert. Alice in wonderland is about puberty and the way Carroll portrays this is interesting for adult readers especially as children will not see and/or understand those inside jokes and underlying thoughts.

  • you should read it.

  • Hey! I like that very much!! Looks awesome!

  • That's a cool shirt Soldier.

  • the ipad is just like justin bieber: a lot of people hate on it, when it's not that bad at all.

they're just taking sides with the majority and not really thinking about the good sides of it haha

  • @waico27 ipad is sick. dont ruin it by bringing that beiber fuck into it. worse than aaron carter

  • @waico27 first off i agree that the ipad is plain awsome but i really don't like justin bieber it is all a matter of oppinion

  • @roh33rocks

haha fine yeah, when ever people start talking about justin bieber it's a start of a flame war, but i guess your'e right. all opinionated
