Giants can tank, it is possible to tank but people won't bother doing the work or research to do it. The game is unfortunately plagued by the soloist mentality. Everyone wants to be a hero and solo all the mobs, in-fact when somebody deals a finishing blow to somebody else's target that person freaks out and whines about kill stealing even though exp is shared and the default is that the loot goes to the person who did the most damage. Lol. You don't need armor in mabinogi. If you suck at the game, you suck at the game, period. Most monsters 1 hit you or send you to deadly status, so defense doesn't help much.

Someone doesn't know how to open their character sheet to find out that defense is a stat. You're the one who's retarded. Not knowing one of the most basic stats in a role playing game.
The defense skill only makes it so you can block a hit. But the skill description clearly says that it adds a certain amount of defense (Stat) and protection (Stat). In r1 Defense's case it adds 55 defense and 25 protection as long as the skill is active. Before you insult me, research and actually KNOW what the fuck you're talking about.

You need to know what you are talking about. You use defense and it makes your defense higher, of course tanking isn't going to be all 1's unless you use the skill, that'd make the game pointless, this game is a strategy game about using skills, but I guess you are stupid and try to just tank everything without any skills just running up and attacking. First of all, you replied to a comment that wasn't even directed at you. I was talking about the stat, not the skill. By reading all of the replies, I'm pretty sure I made it clear that I was talking about the stat the whole time. If you were a seasoned mabinogi player, you would have already figured that out. And by the way, Just about every MMO ever made is based on skills. If you're built to tang, you're built to tank, regardless. Mabinogi isn't one of those games where you can just tank by having high def, because it's not an easy game, and there's far more going on than just attacking and using skills. So what I've gathered so far is that, Mabinogi, like alot of other MMOS, is based on skills, there for tanking is pointless, and tanking automatically means taking 1 damage at max from monsters.

Its not really classes, its the same destiny system (i think) just that they're adding promos to everything now. It also seems that they are making training teachers (becuz mabi is really hard to get through without a wiki, having npcs that help you specialize in a skills or destiny will be nice for noobs becuz mabi has NO noob support) and a bit of a new storyline.
@NitrosShot If you havent figured out already we already have them, there known as destiny's. all this is really is a updated version on showing what they are. Also you can change them ever rebirth
Argh... I'd love to play this if the EU version didn't suck...
I don't think they really got enough players to have separate servers.
