  • this belief is what we're fighting for....THIS BELIEF....!!!! yeaahhh :D

  • john mayer and steve jordan just had sex musically

  • AAAOOUUUHHH!

  • Anyone notice that they took out the second part of his solo that he usually plays in this song?

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again... the guitar tech needs shooting for badly tuned guitars and the engineer is also obviously given shoddy mixes to the in-ears...

  • @Stilgar74 You mean the tech that did the same work for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Carlos Santana? Yeah..

  • @Stilgar74 nuthin wrong with the guitar tech dude... the producer and sound specialist for this tour Chad had never done a hall with so much acoustic which made it really hard for him, i heard in an interview.... the audience had perfect sound but the rest is kinda out..

  • even if you don`t like the person john mayer, you have to respect him for his music and how he plays and lives the music !

  • It's always interesting to see Mayer at the beginning of a tour. He's even said it himself, the whole band is still learning the songs at that point. He seems so much more vulnerable at the start, yet he's still miles better than any of us.

  • What guitar is he using?

  • @limme13 fender strat :)

  • @rhcp4lifeyeh cheers m8. I would love to have it in that colour..

  • @limme13 danelectro les paul

  • remember staying up all night a year ago watching this lol I haven't changed

  • Does anybody know if he only uses Big Dipper pickups in all of his guitars?

  • to be honest.. i think this show, his singing is a little off.

  • John Mayer plays like a God during his solo 2:50, When he lifts his head up it just sums up how amazing he is at guitar.

  • steven jordan amazing drummer , the groove man

  • who's the girl at 2.35 she's a proper minter

  • Still brilliant, still a beautiful guitar solo, but definitely a little shaky

  • music can get no better than john mayer,he is awesome

  • the min 2 55 solo rocks

  • He's been a favorite artist of mine and this song is very thought-provoking. His questioning of belief (implicit in the lyrics) has the tone of a belief about beliefs (or concepts) and thus reaches the pinnacle of irony, but paradox can be a doorway to freedom.

  • ouch the vocal are false

  • the solo is mindblowing!!

  • THe guitar solo is fucking awesome!

  • i'd give anything to have Steve Jordan playin drums for me

  • high five.

  • I find that the keys are too loud what a shame ! By the way, Mayer seems totally drunk or so in the videos of that show, dosen't he ?

  • I'm a little upset with how loud the guitars are tuned to this song and his voice isn't louder. It's a screw up on the sound guy or maybe JM wanted it that way, I'm not sure.

To reply to your drunk thing, actually, he was sick that night, it's been reported on a few sites and by JM himself, he was nursing a cold and not feeling good at all. Plus, he had pulled a 2 and a half hour show the night before. But, I'm with you, the keys are too loud on this

  • @annml36

Okay I'm glad you're telling me he wasn't high !

  • a living legend..simply amazing!!!!!

  • love the howl at 2:40 lol

  • I didnt know if he was going to attack David Ryan Harris or play the solo. He looked like he was side-stepping into an attack. lol. 4:48

  • @jhuddleston328 you are so full of shit you dickhead

  • @funstufun hahaa. my bad. it was at 2:57 it was hilarious. The solo was badass. and I think youre really confused because im the biggest john mayer fan you will ever meet! lol

  • love what steve does at 4:48, and the way this song is smothered in feeling, especially at the end

  • This is very sweet, but I like the Crossroads festival version even better... especially the intro to the song. Also like the slide playing better on that one.

  • he's soo good at the guitar..

    he's good at everything (:

  • God, the solo has such a clean sound.

  • New "Crossroads-Festival-Solo" version =P

  • Oh, My God!

This Concert is Off the Hook!

John Mayer is stages the best concerts of the past 2 decades.

  • love how he busts out in that solo. brilliant.

  • men är det sant? trodde jag var den enda i sverige som lyssnade på John, folk verkar ju inte ens veta vem han är i det hära landet, hur fan kommer de sig?

  • Du är inte den enda:)

  • 1:32

made bit of a dodgey mistake there !!!!!!!!!!!

    solo was awesome though ;)

such a great great man !!

  • It wasn't a mistake, he's been doing that on purpose during the last 2,5-3 years of performing Belief live.

  • I've always loved that part:)

  • Me too :)

  • Yep me too!

Unfortunaly when you used to listen to his concert in LA, you might think this is just not as good as then...

    but he's stil briljant :)

  • Noo i mean the singing... his voice went a little funny

  • ouch john that's flat as hell buddy... get some sleep dude. you still rock ;)

  • Love the vid, love JM but...

What happened to JJ Johnson? This guy overplays imo.

John looks kind of strung out, didn't seem to effect his playing tho.

  • that "guy" is Steve JOrdan, a true groove master. JJ was good for a really really solid backing of a bigger band, but now with a tinner sound, likewise he needs a thinner drum sound, so SJ steps in. Listen to JM3, Steve Jordan is unbelievable.

  • how does he overplay? lmao. Hes Steve Jordan, and i think better than jj, go look him up and youl udnerstand why

  • From 2:38 to 2:57 he's taking away from that slide lead. It dosn't sound bad, I just think it would have sounded better if he just stuck to the groove.

  • if you listen to the original track JJ was layin down the beat on the toms but since he played a huge Ludwig set, naturally the blend was better. Steve's Yamaha set is tuned higher and is, once again, thinner sounding which doesn't necessarily blend as well, but who's to say it needs to blend with a smaller sound band. Go look up John Mayer trio, really anything, i personally dig Chicken Grease Jam into Cissy strut as a true example of Steve's talent. JJ's good but sj is better.

  • Really? The original track being Continuum? I will have to listen more carefully. I have had the CD for a few years now but never listened close enough to hear it. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Lots of people putting these backing singers down, I think they hold John's vocals together which don't seem to be great this gig. I think they are a good idea, he may as well get as big a sound as possible since he hardly has any tracks that get the crowd properly going.

  • best moment of this gig - when jm and steve jordan get into that really intense jam at the end of the tune.

while the rest of the show may have been patchy, that was definitely john mayer at his best!

  • 2:31 looks like jennifer aniston haha

  • what is going on with him? I love his music more than anyone but the whole concert his vocals are off and it all seems a bit watered down, and the back up singers were a terrible idea, completely out of character for a mayer performance, weird...

  • the back up singers are out of tune throughout the whole concert....must not have practised the harmonies enough cause its not realy up to standard of like eric claptons singers who are amazing live...

  • 2:56. I love how he breaks into that solo.

That being said, I have to say that this whole concert in general sounds like Mayer is somewhat anxious. He lost that confidence he had around Continuum.

While a lot of you think his vocals are out, remember that this guy has not been touring in a while. When he nears the end of his touring scheduling he hits prime Mayer; creatively, vocally, musically. He becomes untouchable!

    Respect for Mayer always!

  • @FAZman23 I actually think that he has been pretty insecure lately, almost like depressed. Lately he's been feeling like he's not quite enough. That's why he said in free falling , thanks for making this good again. Battle studies is quite a sad album (not musically), he seems to feel his life is slipping away , mean while the other moments he feels the opposite, wich makes it quite scary I suppose.

  • @FAZman23 very true check out his live show on his website pretty insane shit

  • @FAZman23 he was sick too:(

  • @FAZman23 of course hes anxious he just released a new cd and this is his first show for it, im sure we would all be a little anxious

  • @FAZman23 Of course, this show is just a few days after Battle Stuedies came out. Also I'm sure this isn't as soundchecked as Where The Light Is ;-). The shows I like best are from march 2010 and on, untill Keith Carlock replaced Steve in june or so.

  • @FAZman23 You're the smartest one on this page.

  • @FAZman23 Also they need to turn his mic up. A bad mic can make the difference in ease & comfort for singing in your range. A good mic make whole concerts better in general.

  • The mixing on this song ain't that good either... I can't hear DRH. Unless it's just me.

  • Ouch, the first line of this song, his voice is really .... NOT himself.

  • Comment removed

  • get rid of d stupid backup vocals!

  • Oh merde il chante tout faux...

  • @Softless :( et y'a pas que sur Belief, sur Gravity c'est chaud sur le " my " de "that's gonna send me to myyyy knees "...

     :(

  • 4:05 until the end was just sick

steve is sooo groovy its insane

by far one of the best solos on this song

  • His 2nd appearance on acl has the best belief solo, imo.

  • Been watching this from the beginning, those back-up singers are really starting to piss me off...

  • Damn .. his voice... what happened John :(

  • He's probably tired out from getting ready for the release of the album and all.

  • he is trying to not sing like a queer like he used to he sounds better

  • He should get bob reynolds back in his band and get rid of the backup vocals.

  • indeed

  • I agree that the backing vox are a little to much here. BUT thats guitar solo WAS AMAZING!! I don't care if he only changes it a little bit every show. It's an awesome solo!

  • the backup singers were a little much here...

  • one of his better solos

  • assassins my favorite on the new album and yeah slow dancin woulda been cool. i thought it was a great show though. nos such thing was insane

  • no the best hes ever done it was austin city limits but this was class too

  • The crowd is so weak

  • yea that solo was smooth!!!

  • seriously smooth as hell

  • damn he's played that solo ALOT, best he's ever done it

  • yeah slow dancing in a burning room and assassin wouldve been awesome

  • dont really like the synth....

  • I really hope he played Slow Dancing

  • amazing version of an amazing song
