@Fractur3dMirror you can repeat this as many times you like but the famous Soundhouse Tapes demo was recorded on 31th december 1978 and contains 3 tracks: 1. Iron Maiden 2. Invasion 3. Prowler. They also recorded a 4th track Strange World on the same session but wasnt released. Woman in Uniform is a single from october 1980, and has nothing to do with it.

@Bananenbennie Indeed, i have the single it's printed with 10/1980, guess that means october 1980 also includes Invasion and a live version of Phantom of the opera and a pic of M thatcher on the cover. Women in uniform however is a cover written by Australien band Skyhook.

@10078g - this sort of music (with Dianno) died in 1981 - so they had to replace Dianno with Bruce - but you're only looking at one aspect of it - of course they became megastars with Bruce and they probably would never have been anywhere near as big with Dianno - but that's not to say Bruce is better - he's just more commercial.

Well I am massive Maiden fan, since I was just 8 yrs old, of course, now time to look like I am jumping on the band wagon, since I HAVE to say this version is disappointing, not just because I do consider the hooks version incredible, and a superiror rendition. But also, because THIS version just was so sub par from Iron Maiden. I am sorry, Paul ducks balls to begin with.. as for the rest, just, maybe a bad day when they recorded this cover.. and had to play it like that since. SUCKS

I agree... that is the best Iron Maiden era... with Bruce it also kickass, but there was something really special with Paul... that I can't explain. They had like a more punk sound (IMO)

Dave is a good guitarist, that much isn't up for debate.

However he's not as technically proficient as H, isn't as good a songwriter as H and tends to rely too much these days on a combination of Legato based solos on the neck pick up with a Wah wah pedal for my taste.

That said H and Davey are the perfect foil for each other. Shame about Janick though - nice guy, but a total spare wheel.
