I really appreciate your playing this song in this style. Your groove and choice of notes was wonderful. This is one of the best solos I've listened to of Giant Steps. From one organist to another; you're a master. I'm not saying that because you played Giant Steps but because I know the jazz organ and how it's supposed to sound and even on this Korg you make it happen. Larry Young played left hand bass & bumped the pedals. It's the jazz sound. I double LFT foot & hand.
I liked the way you worry about making a good melody. Travis is good but he´s all speed, sometimes it sucks! I am a jazz pianist myself. Look for an organist named John Peters, listen to his chords and voicings. There´s a video of him playing with another 2 organists. INCREDIBLE...
Ok, I just got done watching travis Sayles play this same song......um........Travis is sick. Bud is nice too but just look to your right and click on Travis. Great beginner stuff right here though. Nothin but love....out!!!!!!
Can you walk with your feet, comp with your left hand, and solo with your right hand like Larry Young?! Walking with your left hand and soloing with your right is like Lennie Tristano...keep ripping on those Coltrane tunes, Bud!
I play the pedals for the church gig I do, but I have a day job and just can't seem to find the time give the pedals the kind of workout I'd need to coordinate all those things.
On some medium tunes I play roots and fifths on pedals but just don't feel comfortable trying to keep all three things going ala Larry Young or Barbara Dennerlein etc.
Then the logistics of trying to transport my pedals if the club dosen't have its own organ is daunting as well.
The keyboard that I'm using is a 30 year old Korg Bx3, Hammond clone. It was not running through a leslie. I no longer have this keyboard but am looking into a leslie simulator until I can afford a real leslie.
I had one of these too. I sold it when I left Cali to a guy that played with Bo Diddley. I wish I had it back. Keepthechange31 borrowed it for a recording in 1997. If I had left it with him, I would still have it now!
I gotta say, this is the best of the three you've posted so far. The sound is a little fuller on this one. As usual, beautiful flow of ideas! Keep it up, brother!
Sick ... sick ... SICK ... in the best way.

Monte, thanks for the postive feedback. As you can see, I still have a little "trane-on-the-brain" that I'm trying to work out...

I bought this used but I think this is an early version of the Korg BX3 Dual manual Hammond clone.
