LOL you realize your making this much of a deal over a game where one person is supposed to bring balls over a line, it's fucking gay, its just a game and should not be as important as some people take it cause it's just a game.
If what you say is correct, in that conference championships ruin things, why would you not propose a round robin system that the Pac10 and Big10 do? There would be no upsets where a championship game can ruin a nearly perfect season. It would be clear who the top team is.
yeah as a horns fan i think cal should have made it to the rose bowl that year, cuz we beat a&m by only 13 points. now the aggies had a decent ( decent in aggie terms) squad but we should have beat them like 40-13
I find it difficult to reason with supporters of the current state of college football. They'll stick to their beliefs even if we can refute them (most glaringly the excuse that "the regular season is a playoff" when it ISN'T). I don't know if enlightening them can do playoff enthusiasts any good.
Well i get what your saying CanadianZissou29 . But cant they cut some of the non-conference games and some of the bye weeks.Alabama had 2 bye weeks along with many other teams, what do they need that for. The NFL only needs one and they play 16 games and most high schools dont even get one. Plus the injury thing thats going to happen regardless its to rough of a sport. Anyways you had good point but i just had to say this.
well i can understand your arguement i really do but heres the thing with number 1 yes there would be 4 more games so what? number 2 there will be no matter what but honestly if your a real football fan and you see the top 4 teams battling and whoever gets those top 2 spots you would say they deserve it just like the nfl number 3 you got a point but wait doesnt college basketball do like 3 games a week? and still travel and still do playoffs so yea that one is pretty much shit and 4 ITS FOOTBALL
have an idea of a playoff system that combines with both the BCS and a single round knockout system. It will be a 12 team system with the top 12 teams of the BCS Poll after the final week of the regular season using BCS poll of Dec. 2, 2007 the top 12 are OSU,LSU,VT,OKL,GEOG,MIZZ,USC,KU,WV,HAWI,ASU,UF.The catch is that top 6 go to those who r Conf. Champs. ex:OSU,LSU,OKL,USC,WV,GEOG,MIZZ,KU,HAW,ASU,UF with the top4 gets a bye week and the rest goes on to single round knockout like the NFL.
I disagree Cowboy. MU did not handedly beat KU. KU stormed back in the second half and completely changed the game. Daniel and MU's offense was shut down in the second half, and their defense didn't have an answer for Reesing in the second half. KU went 12-1 and deserved to be in a BCS game. MU got hammered by OU 35-17. They were embarrassed and that's why the Orange Bowl didn't want them. So pipe down Cowboy and sit back and watch your Horns get in embarrassed in Lawrence this year!!
Well said. If CowboyTD wants to see what bein beaten handily is, he ought to tune in on November 15th, and check out our new facilities, our Coach Of The Year, oh and also our Orange Bowl Trophy.
Then after your harsh criticisms. The performances of not only Kansas, but of Illinios and Hawaii should of called for you to make a video apologizing for where you directed your attacks. Look, everyone makes mistakes. You should of been a man after the bowl games and said you were wrong about Illinois, Hawaii, and Kansas. But, its alright. Kickoff is coming, and the doubters and critics of KU are already back out, and they will look just as foolish this year.
Just need to correct you on a couple things. You said Mizzou beat Kansas handily. The final score was 36-28 and was decided in the last minute. An example of someone being beatin handily is Mizzou losing by 3 TDs in the Big 12 Title, the day before the selections. Also, you defended Hawaii and Illinios being in the BCS,while attacking Kansas.Thatpissed meoff Thier shouldnt be a limit on two teams per conference going BCS if 3 deserve it from one conference and only one deserves it from the other.
Texas' place in the NC WASN'T GUARANTEED after the OSU win in 2005 (if they remained undefeated)...Penn State would've jumped them b/c of their SOS, but for that last second Michigan TD and PSU's only loss of the year. Do your research, expert.
the funny thing is most of Ohio state's opponents are usually chumps, Especially like Akron, and Youngston State, etc but that gets them in the title game (and this is a Buckeye fan saying this. In some ways i hate the BCS becasue it isn't exactly fair , but at the same time I like the BCS because I love listening to all the debates on all the radio talk shows about if this team should of been in the BCS or that team, make sense?
I have never supported a playoff system, but this is the first time that anyone has started to sway me. I'm still concerned that costs would become too exorbitant for students, but if the logistics are settled well, I could accept a playoff. Very good video.
+1 would have ended most of this and it would have keep all the bowls. They couldn't even do that.We need to realize that this Elitist Don't care about you. They will not listen ever.A suit of some kind is the only way to change it folks.
its easy to make suggestions, but what would a play off system look like with over 200 teams playin 10 game seasons? lol. I hate the BCS as much as you do, but no one has a clue or even an idea as to how to address the situation realistically.
did anyone watch clemson vs auburn in the chick-fil-a bowl this season? it was a hell of a game i was there and let me tell u we partied it up after the win! WAR DAMN EAGLE!!
You forgot that information in the Cal v. Southern Miss game was moved back because of Hurrican Katrina to Decemeber. The game was originally was suppose to be Cal's third game of the season. What hurt them was your right they didn't blow out Southern Miss but if Katrina didn't come the Stanford game which they killed Stanford would have been their last game and would have most likely have gotten them into the Rose Bowl.
Boise State probably had the team to win it all the year before last. They played with alot of heart. They beat Oklahoma in a BCS game, they couldve played for the National Championship. This is why they need a playoff system in NCAA Football huh. Well, it might not ever happen.
Jeez, Boise State fans are still a little crazy about last year's Fiesta Bowl. I agree it was a great game and BSU played with a lot of heart and beat OU, but National Champions??? If any BSU fans seriously believe that BSU would have beaten Florida last year, then that's fine, continue to claim about the BCS, but you'll find few people (including BSU fans) who will agree with you. Either case, BCS sucks but complaining about it probably won't change anything.
There is soo much to hate about the Bull Crap Standings! I'm a big time USC fan and I hate how somebody always gets cheated. USC vs GEORGIA would've been a better choice than OSU vs LSU but they use this mysterious system and pull a match up out of their asses! MIZZOU GOT CHEATED BIG TIME! THEY NEED TO SETTLE IT ON THE FIELD!!!
the only decent bowl game i liked was Michigan vs. Florida. i dont understand why they dont switch to playoffs more games= more money for schools and by making it playoffs you wont have watered down bowl games. why have bowl games where half of the football schools across america can earn one makes no sense.
The reason you won't get it is because these Bowl Games want to control who is in their games. Nobody wants to host say a Sun Belt school vs. a MAC school. They want teams like Notre Dame and Oklahoma and Texas and USC because they bring in the huge fan base and the tv ratings and the money.
i agree 100% man. look at NCAA Basketball, you get some of the BEST college games you will EVER see in ANY sport in March Madness. Could you imagine FOOTBALL, which is a lot more physical, emotional, has a bigger fan base, bigger crowds, louder atmosphere, etc. than any other sport with the intensity of an NCAA Basketball tournament game? Could you imagine in the semi finals, OSU-MICH, OKLA-TEX, ND-USC, FLA-TEN, etc., and the winner goes on to the Nat. Championship? It would be UNBELIEVABLE.
Very true. And I'm not going to make excuses for that game either. BUT...Cal really had their heart set on the Rose Bowl. At the end of the MSU game, they were handing out blue roses. And I think getting a Holiday Bowl vid took it right out of 'em.
They did avenge that loss, however. Not against Tech but against A&M. In 05 they give them a Pac-10 beating.
i don't like the system either, but after my friend showed me all the teams in the ncaa, i was like ok, now there is no way that most teams will face each other, and then i saw that some teams had very easy schedules against complete terrible teams, so i thought that it would unfair if someone like auburn made it to the rose bowl by beating crappy teams, but i still don't like that fact that losing one game at the end will cost you everthing.
i agree with you, the bowl season suckd it was boring, i mean USC trashed Illinois, and Georgia...WTF they pwnd Hawaii it was junk, and in 2005 that championship game was amazing i mean wen the NCAAF Championship Game has the 2 best team and it comes down to 3 points at the end, one touchdown by vince very good game.

the problem with the playoff system is this...
1.) there would be 4 more games.
2.) there will still be controversy for the last spot.
3.) It conflicts with exams for the players.
4.)football is a pretty tough sport and the risk of injury is higher.
Look I not a fan of the BCS system, but the playoff system just is a bad idea.
