  • IM THROWING MY MONEY AT THE SCREEN AND NOTHING IS HAPPENING

  • You've got a great sound system man!

  • K this needs to be made so we can buy it, NOW

  • give me ur friend code and i will give u mine

  • Please, please, pleeeeeeease upload a tutorial on how to make this. I want to prepare for the WiiU.

  • With Smash Brother for the WiiU sure to have Classic Controller support, and the WiiU to NOT have Gamecube controller support, I would love to have something like this.

  • @marcan42 Hmmm, do you think you could actually market this online? As the Wii U releases I can see this becoming an amazingly popular device!

  • omg i would love to use the gamecube controller on wii black ops but it doesnt support it, i have to use the CCP, do you know where i can get a gamcube to CC adapter

  • Interesting concept. I have been looking at all sorts of controller to wiimote solutions. I am considering adapting super famicom controllers to wii remotes to save some cash on the official club nintendo ones.

Oh yeah, and Linux for the Win.

  • I don't suppose you'd consider releasing your design for this?

  • So what kind of effort is required for this?

  • There is going to be a huge market for this if the Wii U doesn't support GameCube controllers as Nintendo has stated.

  • So now that Wii U has no GC ports, can you put out a tutorial on how to do this, so people don't have to give up their GC controllers for the next Smash?

  • @GoldenHeartNeko I see you remembered this video due to that reason also? Laugh.

  • @GoldenHeartNeko

I too found this video looking for a way to use a GC controller on the next SSB. =D

  • @GoldenHeartNeko Or... Can he build several and put them on eBay? Lol. Yeah, I came here for the same reason.

  • So can you reverse this. Id like to play the gamecube games with wii remote and nunchuck. :(

  • it's a shame nothing ever became of this, could of been so pratical for alot of things like using a GC controller for a mijority of VC and wiiware games, also to use a GC controler on PC using wiimote, bluetooth and that Glove program.

  • WOW... Now put that into a box with the Nunchuck plug on one end and the GC Input plug on the other. Then sell a ton of them.

  • you sure went through a lot of bullshit for nothing

  • is there a way to do this without breadboard or whatever you are using? if so can you show me to where i can learn how weather its a schematic or a video?

    linux foreva!!

  • theres a thing on yhe top

  • hello there, can i have a copy of the schematicsand pic software? thanks a lot.

  • Awesome work! I love that you are a Gentoo user too.

  • LOL you really got skills

  • Wow, this is so cool -- wtf can't the gamecube controller do this normally??!!? I hate having to turn on the freaking remote just to start a gamecube game. Is there any "easy" workaround to this?

  • lol coulda just gotten a wavebird but since you did this for the hell of it got to say it's pretty epicness.

  • what about plugging a classic controller on the gamecube port? an adapter or even better weld a game cube controller cable to the end of the classic controller cable? (since classic cable is too short), im trying to look up for diagrams of both connectors to see if its posible, since i have bluethoot interference on my home(probably neighbor radio antena), so any button u hold ends up repeating itself, faster when closer to the antena.

  • i would own you in mario kart wii no offense XD

  • I am interested in building something like this. I have an extra game cube controller and classic controller and I would be interested in knowing how you put this together. Is it just connecting the wires from the game cube controller to the wii remote plug or is there more to it? My first thought was to just solder connections for all the buttons, but there must be an easier way to achieve the same result! Please help! Thanks! Great job on the video!

  • Excellent job mate!

  • What kind of controller does the Wii think you're using? Like when you go to the Multiplayer Player option for Mario Kart, what does your controller show up as, a classic controller?

  • i dont have my wiimote right now . so how do you connect with the gamecube controller.

  • i need this for monster hunter 3. that piece of shit classic controller nd classic controller pro suck real bad

  • can you make a video how u play ultimate band with this controller ?

  • u can use gamecube pad for all those games you listed (mostly)

  • make a classic controller to gamecube converter mod

  • wow .. let me get it straight .. you just f***ed up your wii remote ( the successor of the GC controller ) to play some games that were designed for the wii controller ( which has MOTION SENSING ) .. duude .. you rock !!

  • so they have stoped selling the game cube controlers mmmm but they sell the wirelles ones for the game cube still and they sell the ones with the cords but they arnt the offical nintendo ones so they are a rip off the the cord ones come with a 16 mb memorie card for game cube so there

  • can you come to my house now? I need your help.

  • The point is that:

    1) You can use this on the System Menu

    2) You can use this on games that only support the Classic Controller (yes, they exist)

    3) The controller is wireless (no, this is not my usual gaming setup, and yes, wireless does help the way I normally have my Wii set up)

    4) The controller is still responsive using this (this is why I shot a Mario Kart test).

    5) I felt like building this anyway.

I obviously know Mario Kart can be played with a Gamecube controller natively.

  • nice!

  • thinking of releasing the source code? thanks.

  • do I have to open the wii to use the gamecube controller ???

  • @omega1919191919 stupid u just have to put it on the top!!! ti-ti-ti!!!

  • @510METROID

wow man, i bet he said that becouse he has no wii. dont be so harsh on him... god lol

  • tehehehe!!! lol jk but oh well

  • whats the point???

  • holy crap thats awesome

  • thats very good, buut the gamecube pad already works with some of the wii games

  • Good Man, Good Man, Rosalina is dope.

  • cool

  • its cool that you were able to rig a gc controller to plug into a wii remote and play "wirelessly" without a wave bird but it would have been so much easier to use the GC controller normaly. youre not far enough away from the screen to the wireless thing to matter anyway

  • i just got a (used) wavebird for my bday. it should work fine. i still have another working one, but the rubber cover on the control stick is all screwed up now and is uncomfortable to use. there are other wireless controllers you can get at game stop, but they are a bit mini and the connection is questionable. if u dont have a wavebird use a regular GC controller and keep pets out of the room so they dont trip on the chord

  • Ruined Control Stick+Sonic Riders=Really Bad Cut

  • i dug up a wavebird wirless conytroller. it was hart ton finsd

  • this interface could be used to use normal usb gamepads, or ?

  • you know that it is already posible 2 play mario kart wii with gamecube controler.

  • that wasn't the point of the video, the point was to show us that he can start up his wii game with his gamecube controller

  • @Onlinemtx but this is to show that he can transmit it from a Wii remote, instead of connecting it to the console, like a wirless GameCube controller

  • You can already do that on Mario Kart Wii.

  • nice job doing that with the gamecube controler... thats sick. You sure do know how to pick your maps ;D its my fav

  • cewg

  • LAZY MF

  • All that work just to get a gamecube controller on a wiimote, LOL. Great job though

  • do you made it smaller now???

  • DO WANT

  • I wish Nintendo released an adapter to connect GC pads to the Wiimote... once you go wireless, you can't go back, lol.

    Well done!

  • Great, man how i love to know this sort of things,

some guy at the wii hacks forums said that the great hack, is to make the wii-mote playable in the gamecube games bootable by wii.

But what you its just great i hate how the classic controller is so damn small.

    5/5 for you

  • WTF????!!!!!

  • I envy u!! i want to do that T_T

  • dun u think this is a bit to big

  • be fun to play skate it on that but you'd need to switch reads on the sticks so the C-stick is the pointer. 5/5

  • my wii won't read dvds it's probably an after recall thing I don't know

  • Sucks that the Wii cant play DVD's = ( Still great console though!! = )

  • actually, a softmod'ed wii can totally do that.

  • Didn't know that suonds AWESOME LOL

  • hehe nice man^^

  • This would be useful if you have a huge TV and don't like sitting close to your Wii.

  • it would be neat if one could make a DS to wii adapter and program it to be a classic controller through DS homebrew.

  • i dont have many wii games but all the ones i do let me use the gc controller (idk about zelda never tried) so this seems a little pointless to me. but maybe the gamecube controller compatibility was added in a system update or something

  • well you can already use the GC on mario kart so it was kinda pointless

  • Comment removed

  • this is cool, but im still waiting on nintendo to make an update to allow GC controller support and editable CSS for the Wii menu

  • didnt nintendo release a gamecube controller for the wii?

  • on the other hand. you could just buy an xbox or ps3... which lets you do w/e you want.

  • Wow you are really missing the point.

  • did you notice how my comment starts with "on the other hand"?

i dont know what happened to the comment b4 that..

    misunderstanding dude.

  • last tiem i cheked u cant play nintendo games on a ps3

  • if you want it for the virtual console, i have nes snes and 64 games on my laptop.

i just funished majoras mask yesterday!

    you want it?

  • Can you play Brawl or Mario Kart Wii on a PS3 or on a NES, Snes or 64....... no.

  • other than brawl... there is no reason to buy the wii. Mario Kart wii sucks...

you cant play halo or litlle big planet on a wii. which\, i think, is worth more the money than brawl.

honestly, brawl is boring. I havent played it for a long time. its gathering dust.

  • I own BOTH a 360 and a Wii.

Aksi there are plenty more WII games:

    Super Mario Galaxy

    Wario Land: The Shake Demension

Zack and Wiki: Quest for Baboas Treasure

    Red Steal (A underrated game))

  • 2 responses for that...

    1. maybe there are plenty more wii games. (even if that's a lie.) still they are shit games compared to 360/ps3 for less than 5 exceptions.

    2. How old are you little fanboy, and why do you remove your own comments?

  • Definitely have to disagree with you. There are a couple good Wii games (I mainly only play Brawl and GC games on mine), and most of them are first party. The 360 has a much better line up, IMO.

  • It can read DVD's. Uneducated people are uneducated.

  • ...erm, why did you direct that at me?

  • Comment removed

  • dude how long did it take you to make and how much did it cost

    Twiizers are the kewlest

  • Marcan owns ;)

  • Maybe you should have tried a game that doesn't already work with the Gamecube controller, like maybe Geometry Wars: Galaxies.

  • yes but the game recognized the game as a classic controller instead of a gamecube controller

  • And you can ALREADY PLAY Mario Kart Wii with a Gamecube controller, which kind of kills the point of it.

  • well. he's just showing his skills at hacking stuff. the wii is capable of so much and nintendo limits what it can do.

a wii out of the box can:

    play DVDs

    mp3

    mp4

pretty much do anything a computer can.

but the greedy mother fuckers on top wont let us do much so thats wy we fight the power with nerds like this.

  • People fail to realize that since it is on a breadboard, it is waaaaaay larger than a pcb version of the circuit. If this was on a circuit board with plugs and everything, it would be significantly smaller.

  • Erm. Interesting. I like the idea, but the execution is a tad clunky. I'm sure Nintendo could easily streamline it if they put some damn effort in.

In the meantime, I'll stick to my Wii Wheel and my Thrustmaster T-Wireless...

  • ... is ther any way to do that... easily??

  • marcan42 what is that circuit board to the left of your breadboard?

  • try readin the vid description

  • First of all gamecube controls do have L and Z and u can already play SSBB wit gamecube control Cool anyways

  • ^Dumb

The classic controller has two Z buttons. ZL and ZR.

He could play SSBB with the gamecube pad but wavebirds are out of production, hence the need for a wireless gamecube controller solution.

This also lets you play VC games that require the classic controller.

  • VC games that require the classic controller can use gamecube controllers. To be fair, I'd rather sit closer to the wii than make a big brick to connect my wiimote and GC controller.

Only thing I would want this for is the new monster hunter game that will only use classic controller and won't use GC controller.

  • there is a wii controler like a wave bird that you can conect to the wii mote

  • lets see you play a game that does not let you use a GameCube controller (since Mario Kart Wii has this option) like the Bleach game where you have to wave the Wii Remote around or the game I like No More Heroes and then I'll be convinced on how well your device works.

  • The intention for the device is to fool the Wii to make it think the GC Controller as a Classic Controller.

    You = Dumb

  • Comment removed

  • freaking awsome!5/5

  • doesnt wii already allow you to use GC controllers?

  • It does. But this allows you to plug a GC controller into a Wii remote (read, the remote, not the console itself) and the Wii thinks it's a Classic Controller. Kinda like plugging a Playstation Remote into your PC and your PC thinks it's a regular ol' joystick.

  • :O

why cant i have one o dem thingyz!?!??!

  • wow man can u make a tutuorial vid or even just a written tutuorial pleasE?

  • i wanna see tp played with this, i know they have gc but still swining and all...

  • E3 2009

    DREAMCAST 2

Will Be Announced... see channel for info

  • Can it be done the other way around, and use an SD card as a Gamecube Memory Card?

  • could u make video on how to do this

  • I had an idea similar to this, but modeling it after the original 'Gamecube controller shell' mock-up, where the wii-mote fits into the top. Nice job.

  • I Like this a lot... its good because sometimes i always forget i cant control the main screen

with the gcn controler but you made a good mod for this... good job =D

  • thaths... awesome... BRAVO DUDE!

  • No la podes tener tan clara che, que grande que sos!! como dicen ustedes EL PUT* AMO!! muy buen trabajo, felicitacion y continua asi!!

  • hey how did u manage to plug a VGA monitor to the wii??

  • use a vga box

  • wait did u like cut off the part where you plug it into the gamecube connecter? or what? you cannot really see it.

  • do this with an NES or SNES controller.

  • you can use a nes/snes adaptor to gamecube and conect that to this thing

  • You could at least talk.

  • maybe you did not notice that he used the GC controller on the wii menue, which you CANT do

  • so does the wii recognize it as a gamecube controller or a wiimote?

  • the recognize it as a clasic controller

  • That's kinda cool ... is this a software or hardware based mod?

  • I'd also love the source code -- I've been looking at a project similar to that one for winter break (been too busy with school lately). I've been working with the 4550, don't know the differences between it and the 4520 though... So you emulated the i2c of the Classic controller? Last I checked people hadn't quite analyzed the protocol yet (was looking at the project over summer), did you do that part of the research as well?

Great stuff, would love to see a writeup (or, again, source). Nice!

  • lol!

  • Any chance of posting the source of the PIC controller?

  • Classic controller questionable? I love it. Can't play SSBB wothout it.

  • hector martiiiin!!

  • Es curioso, me esperaba una supermodificación del IOS... será que tengo demasiada imaginación xD

  • Hey are you part of Team Twiizers? Or do you just help them out? Cuz u r one badass modder.

  • cant you just plug them into the top of the wii?

  • Only if it's a Wavebird [wireless] controller, as you can see, he's using a standard [wired] controller.

  • You can use a wired controller. I play SSBM on the wii all the time and I use a wired GC controller.

  • lol thats what i do...

  • tutorial?

  • wow, nice !

Too bad I already invested in 3wavebirds.

but I know on thing for sure, if you or somebody would do such adapter with ngc,n64,snes (and possibly the other consoles on VC) controller support, I'd buy it in an heartbeat if the input lag is good enough ! :) (and I'm sure I'm not the only one !)

  • You could make a lot of money if you put the converter in a plastic case and sold them...

Anyway this is a great project! Think you are wiling to tackle Classic Controller on Gamecube Games?

  • dude, do you think you could make a Classic Controller to Game Cube converter? I would love using my Classic Controller on all my old Cube games. It would also save people the trouble of buying a Game Cube Controller, as they are hard to find new now in days. But really man I would buy one if you started to make them.

  • Nice work, although not exactly a wireless setup. We would really benefit from a DUI wavebird project which would allow to convert regular GCN controllers to wireless in GC mode, not classic controller mode. Placing batteries would be the biggest issue probably.

  • Ah, you use a Cherry CyMotion. Just like I do :)

Anyway I hope that you'll produce a small amount of these in tiny casing. Or at least provide info to do it yourself. For me the Cube cord is still one of the main issues playing MK or SSBB.

  • Awesome

could you share the scheme of this circuit?

  • I cant understand why nintendo dont allow the gamecube controller to control the wii menu!

  • Because they don't feel like implementing it.

  • dont most games that support the CC controller support GC pads native anyway?, what other uses(apart from the wiimenu) could this provide?

  • Wireless

  • can you make a N64 one?

  • Probably

  • please do :3 with instuctions. or atleast n64 to gc :3

  • OK, now just make a small adapter that I can plug in the wiimote and I'll pay for that! that's great!

    and btw linux rocks!

  • this is for use the GC Controller in the Wii?

  • it lets you connect the gc controller to the bottom of the wiimote, and play as if you were using a classic controller.

  • u use linux?? and is this your workplace?
