i find this very helpful tell truth, I'm gonna be doing this most likely now on my game since i have the fight at egrose caslte(i know i spelt it wrong) but since i want to finish it quickly, i figure if i get all my people to lvl 99 it be easier, especially with the sword saint he finished 98% of the battles i encounter since i got him
Easier, but slower. Accumulate is always a constant 10 exp. A level 1 character stealing gil from a level 99 enemy or simply attacking it gives 108 exp (which, unfortunately, is capped at 99), making this the best route. The same works for that level 1 character using a potion, phoenix down, etc. on a level 99 character (or casting protect or cure or even slow) - 108 exp (99 actual due to the cap). I know the formula to determine the amount of exp gained.
"(TargetLevel-SourceLevel+10+Bonus)*GainedExpUp" determines the amount of experience you get. "TargetLevel" is the level of the target (or the highest level among multiple targets; say, level 99). "SourceLevel" is the level of the action's source (say, level 1). "Bonus" is 10 if the action defeated an enemy, 0 if otherwise. "GainedExpUp" is 2 if the "Gained exp up" ability is equipped, 1 if not. The cap is either 1, 10, or 99. 238 is the most exp possible in one action, ignoring the cap.
If i show you what i create in fft, i think you never play that game again xD, i play Tactics over 4000 hours and know every trick xD, and this is funny to me xD, i make character with speed 40, no cheat ofc xD, go with ninja from lvl one to lvl 99 and you get speed bonus, then change job to bard and then decrease his lvl to 1, some classes get bonus like knight from lvl 1 to lvl 99 attack power bonus but decrease speed, summoners get best mana pull, wizards magic attack power, monks hp, fans xD
I don't recall. It's a reaction ability, probably for the ninja or samarai. It allows you to attack the enemy before it attacks your own character, quite useful, especially after you've maxed out physical attack (35 is sufficient enough - I have 58 and know how to get it to 99).
If wanna pwr lvl Ramza, all you need to do is keep doing Yell(or whichever one adds speed) until his speed is up to 50, then start upping the rest of his stats, you'll get about 6moves with him to the one of every other character xD
RIDICULUS... -_- the fastest way to lvl up is have 5 of ur main party use FOCUS and use the JP BOOST ability if possible make ur enemy SLEEP or TOAD or CHICKEN THEM with -BRAVERY(make their bravery below 10) and theyll become chicken then spam ur focus ull get about 72 JP each turn... PERIOD my main characters are already masters of each class -_-
that's the boring way. u gotta make everyone frog, beserk, rend power with knight, and stone the people u dont need more lvling or jp. so u get to lvl without doing anything. just wait a few minutes and u can be lvled 5 times and lotts of jp.
There's a better way - put every enemy to sleep then constantly steal gil from it. Use Ramza's "yell" to raise the thief's speed and you get more gil each time. If level didn't max at 99, I'd have Jorge's level at well over 1000 by now, almost 2000.
this is not a better way. the way adilnaurzov points out is good because you can basically just leave the game on and go do other stuff while your party lvls up
Ah, but when you use "steal exp" or "gil taking", you can actually take more gil in a single turn with a higher speed, and there's a higher success rate. Notice how, as the thief's speed (and level) increases, the amount of gil taken increases? The maximum possible is 4950 - level 99 times speed of 50 gives just that. It's the fastest way to get gil.
I think you don't understand me. I say that what you are doing in this video (leveling ramza as a bard) is pointless because if you level a character in a job with terrible stat growths as a bard then you actually make your character weaker. All I'm saying is that it would be better if you'd level him as something better so that he gets better stat growths
then you have been mis informed. If you want to learn more about stat growths go to gamefaqs(dot) com and you can read the faq. And if you just want to see for yourself level a character up from 1 to 99 as a ninja and another character as a monk. You'll see that the ninja has a lot more speed then the monk but the monk will have more att power and more health. Every single job has different growths.
I never checked any sources. It was my first time going through the game, and I didn't want to be spoiled. It was my second time playing it though, the first one, I had a lot of difficulties making it past the second battle and never got to see shops or the world map because of it. Even when I tried again, I was still the same way.
ok I just told you that its pretty stupid to level up as a bard so what your saying about your play through isn't making any sense. If you're having troubles with the game I doubt you can get your characters to level 99.
It's true. For example: black mage (or whatever its name is) has the largest magic attack growth rate. monk has the highest hp growth rate. I suggest people learn something about the game before they start showing off.
yup i ended doing 90 lvl of thief and getting 99 not knowing the lvl down trap when i was 10 ^^ lolso fun with ramza to ave top speed add to this yell and he get 3 to 4 turn in a turn XD
Yes, thief has high speed growth. There's a trick to use de-leveling traps and de-level yourself as a bard (very low growth in all areas) many many times, t hen level yourself up as a mime (high growth in all areas) many many times. You can repeat this until you have god-like stats. I just try to level up as a ninja as much as possible (High attack and high speed growth).
I should try that, if this works with the PS1 version. I've never used the mime, even though I have access to it. The reason for this is because there's nothing to learn from it.
Besides, as someone has noted in this game (and in FF8 also) the enemies level up with you... I remember getting up to about level 60 in this and just getting wasted by random battles... plot battles were a snap though.
Ok fair enough, but you are missing a key point, that is for random fights as the scripted story fights lose their challenge 49 levels earlier. So what is the real point of getting to level 99 other than saying you did?
Fighting random battles where all the enemies just happen to be the same level(99) and thus easy to use calculators on doesn't really count as useful. What about during the rest of the game, particularly when your characters are a lower level and calculators do crap magic dam.
I saw the weakness in the design of the game. Because of this, I knew I could get level 99 first thing before the Sweegy Woods story battle. The monsters, here, were level 90+ but the humans were level 5 or so and so slow that I could make twice as many actions before they did.
At level 60 with two swords, wielding two excaliburs each, 5 of my characters can one hit kill nearly everything in the game and take very little damage themselves. What is the real point of getting to level 99 other than saying you did?
Also calculators + mages = teh fail, you can have much better characters who have mastered monk, ninja, knight, squire, and lancer with two swords ability(with or without excaliburs)
Magic in the game is way to slow and should have been balanced more.
Calculators are instantaneous and with everyone on level 99 with 99 EXP, it's very dependable. With that, you can use level or experience as the target, and use 4, 5, or prime number as the factor, and the "flare" spell to wipe out hordes of enemies very quickly. You use zero MP and the action occurs at that very moment - no delay. Some spells, like level 4 versions, are not available though, but with flare, it's extremely handy.
Accumulate is a constant 10 EXP (the formula is "TargetLevel-SourceLevel+10"). Stealing gil constantly from sleeping enemies is another worthy method and by using Ramza's "yell", the amount stolen increases as the speed (and level) increase (the formula is "SourceLevel*SourceSpeed").
I found that by putting enemies to sleep then constantly stealing gil from them is the best way to do it. Using Ramza's yell will increase the rate further from more turns, and also take more gil per turn as well, a double bonus. Even if the enemy is still sleeping, recast it to replenish it and keep them asleep almost indefinitely. This is where the "math skill" ability comes in handy for.
what i like to do to train black, white, and time mages and oracles, is trap a chocobo with 4 characters, and have your magic user beat the heck out of it. Usually it uses choco cure and the cycle goes on forever. sometimes i have to heal it though. very good for jp and xp.
And as a reference point, I destroyed this game, meanwhile I haven't been able to beat a single other FF game, as much as I liked them. I got absolutely nowhere in the FF game with the robots and magittek (those damn multiple party controlling segments were too hard) and I got right up to the entry into the crater in FFVII then quit because of difficulty.
FF6 is, so far, the easiest game. I just focus on leveling up at first then focus on strength and keeping Edgar as much as possible (thanks to his "autocrossbow" tool of which is very handy. It was so easy that I immediately needed a self-made challenge. FF7 is pretty much the same, but as soon as I got the morph materia, I focused on maxing out the strength and I could one-hit almost anything, even with initial equips (which are very weak). I have videos to get hints and ideas from.
Ok, you have got to be kidding. I found this to be by far the easiest game in the Final Fantasy series. Once you get a good understanding of what classes and abilities synergize well, and what casses you have to go for (ie all melee characters need dual wield and all mages should be calculators), the game is a breeze. The only battle that presented me wit even a hint of difficulty was the fight against over 9000 red chocobos... that battle was a lesson humility.
9000 red chocobos? That's impossible unless its spread out among several battles. The battle fields are usually around 11x11 blocks or 121. 5 are required for the characters leaving 116 left over. The most enemies I've faced is 8 at Finath River (if I recall). The beginning of the game is very difficult as I struggle a lot. However, once I figured out the case of putting enemies to sleep, I knew that was the way to do it and now I almost never have troubles. This is about as tough as FF1.
Havent seen any videos from you yet concerning using only Ramza throughout the game (plus obligatory guests). It is a good test of using each turn you get to it's fullest, and feels more rewarding as a player. Levelling is key in that format too, as you engage in NO random battles at all (to prevent EXP gain outside of fixed battles).
I'm not able to do it with just Ramza alone. Two hits and he's down. Even with 5 characters, I still struggle. This is the hardest game of the Final Fantasy series. FF1 is the next hardest.
The hardest battle for a solo-Ramza is when he goes to ambush the thieves (first battle in the past I believe). I had to restart quite a few times. You have to let Delita do some of the damage for you.
In one of the next few fights, there are chances to just use accumulate while Delita and Algus fight (and die). You can then sweep the enemies and finish the fight. The aim is just to get the maximum EXP gain possible each fight. Later, with +1 speed, it is much easier.
Hm, levels and not much else? Why not use a Black Mage (Wizard) using Arithmeticks (Math skill)? Those Arithmeticians (Calculators (lol?)) are pretty weak really. I'd cut your team easy. Even without PSP exclusive skills, characters and equips. But hey, good leveling principle.
I have no idea what the PSP version is - I don't have a PSP in the first place (I think it's a handheld one, the kind of systems I strongly dislike). It's simple though and I've got faster ways - watch my "10 levels in 10 minutes" video for the trick - such as using the "gil taking" ability with the speed maxed and the "haste" status effect active. Putting the enemies to sleep is your first priority. I can get from level 1 to level 99 like this in only 2 hours....
Wow, what a tedious and boring way to level. It would be much easier if you rended an enemy down to Speed 1 and Power 1. Then, you can cast Toad on a player set to Berserker and let them go to town, and the others to Coward. This works best on an enemy such as Yellow Chocobo that can heal itself. You can walk away from the game and the players will level themselves on AI (Auto-Battle), just checking in every couple hours to see if you Berserker needs healing.
I did something similar to this on my first play through of the game. The annoying part of it is that while you have these characters with powerful abilities and versatility, the random encounters you face are scaled to your level. This translates to swearing at random encounters with chocobos on account of chocobo meteor.
I've only faced 3 enemies and I, too, have encountered this "at same level" thing, but I've found tricks to avoiding the problems. The enemies can take out my characters in one hit at times but status effect spells (don't move and sleep especially) work wonders.
It's easiest just to fight and heal your own characters (say with one enemy left on the battle field). Friendly fire earns experience.

I forgot to ask, is this the original or the PSP version?

This is the PS1 version. I don't have a PSP, nor do I really know much about the PSP.

The enemies can take out my characters in one hit at times but status effect spells (don't move and sleep especially) work wonders.

another way around is uising monks which damage doesnt depend on a weapon so it makes it less difficult
