  • That '55 Seth lover had the most mojo for sure

  • Relax when you play mate!!!!

  • whats you favorite?

  • Keep practicing with the metronome and the timing will get better over time. Not quite there yet.

  • great part with SG

  • great part with SG

  • last dance with MaryJane?

  • the goldtop with a2 pickups...sounds a little dark but has more depth than the others

  • What style of music are ya playing here? I would be interested in hearing more, any suggestions for artists?

  • i like your playing sir..

  • P E A R L Y G A T E S SOUND LIKE THEY HAVE MORE RAWNESS IF YOU WILL TO THEM, THEREFORE, GIVING THEM A MORE MARSHALL TYPE OF SOUND. IN MY OPINION PEARLY GATES WIN THIS ONE.

  • what is the four guitar and in what finish? beautiful, excellent demo aswell

  • ZzzzzzZZZZZzzzzzZZZZzZZZZZzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ!!!!!

  • nice vibrato:)

  • You are not comparing pickups at all, you are comparing guitars!!!

  • This was very helpful , but I wd have seen it sooner if u put the pickup names in the tag, cuz dats wat taggings all about,... Aside from that, I thank you very much for the comparison.

  • that goldtop fits you better :)

  • Seth Lover's get my vote

  • Difficult to find demos with decent players these days.. your slow hand delivers!

  • i like the pearly gates and the burstbucker ... i think maybe a burstbucker in the neck position with the pearly gate in bridge on an sg would be lovely espesialy on a 62 VOS reissue like mine where the wood itself has a warm sustaining tone ... this video makes me consider changing the current ones out

  • All these pickups are sweet. Any one of these can be made to sound like each other just by playing with guitar tone and amp settings, pickups are overated, as long as they are good quality like all of these then the tone is yours. Spent time learning not listening to different pickups.

  • @smoothasf I can agree that some folks can get too wrapped up in the mechanics of the instrument, and totally miss the ENJOYMENT of playing. But.....there is a big difference in the tonal characteristics of these pups. I enjoy the smoothness of the SL'55's...good for a neck position. Slap a PG in the bridge, with CTS 500K's and some Luxe'bees, and you're good to go.

  • Comparison of pickups installed on different guitars?!?! LOL...

  • Hey thanks for this. Difficult of course to make a comparison with different guitars but illuminating anyway. The Seth Lovers were my favourite - but it all depends on preference, doesn't it. The '57s are really smooth, and the Pearly Gates are gritty like the Lovers, but darker. Perhaps just the difference in guitars?

  • very cool. whats your favorite?

  • It looks like he's playing inside a suitcase.

  • That SG with the burstbucker pros has such a sweet tone.

  • Nice gear!

  • Great Demo!!

  • Thanks for the demo, but like 99.9% of the demos here, it's obsolete...

Use ONE guitar, switchout pickups, leave all knobs/settings the same on the guitar/amp/pedal... alot of work yes, but it's the only way to trully compare differences.

  • you are a EXTREMLY LUCKY GUY to have all thoes guitars

i know alot of ppl in my school that suck so much and already have a gibson

i dont want to brag but im probably the best and guess what guitar i have??

    fender squire :(

  • @Ronaldino150 Keep rockin. The guitar doesn't make the player. More cool to play some raggedy piece of crap guitar and sound great, than play a so called shiny, new classic guitar and sound like crap. Saw an interview with EVH and Chet Atkins where both said they look for feel and sound in a guitar before all else... could care less about brand, flame maple this, or bound that etc.

  • @Ronaldino150 Fender Squire? Whats wrong with that? It's what you do to your instrument that means the most. In other words if you own a Les Paul and you still suck, what good is it? Make the best of what you have. I own quite a few guitars and my favorite is the Epiphone Casino. John Lennon's main axe. The chemistry I have with that guitar is unreal. Sometimes we put to much in a name. Be happy with what you have.

  • @Ronaldino150 Its not the boat you rock, its how you ROCK THE BOAT!!!

  • can someone please please tell me what song that is? I asked 3 times for heaven sake!!! lol

  • Nice comparision! the parly gates sound awesome

  • Great sound! If you could only own one amp which one would iy be and why?

  • what is the song? anybody?

  • blue alnicos

  • Very nice tones. What speaker does the Vox use please?

  • Nice, and what guitar do you have hanging on the wall in the side.

  • For it to be an accurate comparison, all the guitars should have identical wiring harnesses, exactly same value pots and tone caps, and exact same type of wire used. And honestly the pickups should be demo'd in ONE guitar not four. Each guitar sounds differently played acoustically, this has a big effect on what the pickups will do. Still an interesting listen, thanks for posting.

  • Althoough I have the BB Pros in my Gibson Les Paul Studio (and love them) I really liked the sound of the Gibson 57s! Really mellow, vintage sound!

Great demo man, thanks for posting it. And very nice playing / solo as well.

PS: And that Vox amp really lives up to it's name!

    Rock on!

  • Some good tones there.

    Thank you.

    Vinni from V-Picks

  • Different pickups in different guitars. that's not a good comparsion between the pickups..

  • the seth lover were the best to my ears:) good video..

  • the Lover and Pearly Gates both very tasty!

  • Sounds like it´s Gibson stock electronics (pots & caps)

  • do you know what the exact piickups on this guitar is?

  • well your video sais it´s the burstbucker pro´s.

but i was refering to the electronics in the guitar, Gibsons stock volume and tone pots and orange drop caps. Check out my videos, i have the burstbucker pro´s in my Gibson Les Paul but with RS Guitarworks vintage kit, good pots and caps :)

  • the SG

  • Standard pickups would otherwise be Gibson 490R & 490T or 490R and 498T

  • seymour duncan pearly gates or custom shop 55?? :S

  • Comment removed

  • is that straight into the amp?

  • I hear delay so i don't think so

  • whats the song?

  • is the one with the 57 classics a les paul traditional?

  • An SG naturally sound different. Don't Pearly Gates feature ceramic magnets ?

  • nope, alnico 2

  • Is the second Les Paul a Traditional ?

  • Actually difficult to say through the little speakers of a computer but I like that slow playing in the Neil Young style. I personally use Burstbuckers #1 and #2 that is to say what Gibson first made for japanese collectors. It's true :o) but I'm belgian.

  • Seth Lovers for me... sweet , warm yet still crisp at the same time... of course that's due to the Alnico2 magnets.

  • I agree! They seem to have a slightly more natural string vibration sound than the others... Just a better, more defined sound.

  • They all sound similar but yeah the seth lovers are the best

  • I love Seths

  • Great demo! I just need a hand for my problem: I got 57 classic plus in the bridge and I don't know which pickup slap in the neck: pearly gates or seth lover? Someone could help me?

  • Seth Lovers hands down!!!

  • I think the Seth's definately have the best tone of the 4 tested here. The '57 classics maybe come second in my opinion. For me though the Seth's really stand out.

  • The Seth Lover sounds like a cross between the Burstbucker and the '57.

  • Awesome test man. Really helped me out..they all sound fantastic..

  • Nice demo. Thanks.

  • Best comparison video on YouTube in my opinion. These companies should just pay you to do their tone comparisons. I found this to be really helpful because I have been on the search for a great set for my Ibanez AS73. Had my eyes on the 57'a but now the Seth Lovers caught my ears; bright but smooth combined with good low note definition. I see that you are, like many of us, shall we say "concerned" with tone. Anyway, thanks for the outstanding reference video!

  • O cara tem tudo... gibson, vox, marshall, fender, etc... mas falta uma coisa... tocar bem. abs

  • THX 4 that vid dude!!!!

  • I think I'm leaning towards the Burstbucker Pro or Pearly Gates. If you could do a review of the same three Pauls but find a Paul with a Burst Bucker Pro that would be even better. But something about the SG and the last paul just struck me. Good review!

  • Thanks for the demo. Witch pickups from that four do you like the best? I'm looking to change the bridge pickup from my Epiphone Les Paul Custom (right now I have 59 and JB from SD.

  • thanks for the demonstration. it has been very usefull to me. i hope my english is good. which one did you like the best?

  • Thanks for the great demo mate! Nice playing too. How would you compare the Bluesbreaker the AC15?

  • The Marshall is actually the 18 watt handwired reissue. It has a devastating midrange that, in my opinion, has been lacking in some recent Marshalls. The handwired Vox has two differently voiced channels, a lot of tone shaping capabilities. I like them both, but I've read where some of the early Marshall combos had transformer issues. Mine has been great.

  • That Marshall is so beautiful. I have the handwired head and 1 X 12 cab, that's why I was asking about the comparison. Maybe one day I'll have both!

Thanks again for the demo mate.

  • @docjeffreyb which of these pickups sounds more like jimmy page????/

  • @docjeffreyb which of these pickups sounds more like jimmy page????/ by the way nice video
