To be honest this is a terrible recording of one of her least successful songs. She is, on the whole, better seen and heard live. I am quite fed up with the number of poor quality recordings on YouTube, and with the idiots who predictably write 'excellent' whether something is or isn't.
Also in Toronto she sang "Ai Maria" which hasn't been recorded by her yet. That was sang w/o the use of microphones though so I don't think they could have put that one on the radio. Also, I like the version of Senhor Vinho she sang in the concert: they used a faster-tempo percussion than in any of her recordings of the song. Search for "Mariza no Porto vinho". That is the way she sang it in Toronto.
Selections from this concert in Toronto can be heard on CBC Radio'2 website. Unfortunatly Ó Gente da Minha Terra, Summertime, Oiça Lá O Senhor Vinho are not included in the recording. I think she also sang Feira de Castro but it's not included either.
I agree that my comment was ambiguous but by virtue of this why would one choose one interpretation of the comment, run with it, attack me with no consideration that they'd misinterpreted it? And I don't understand your comment about not wanting to know me? Seems completely out of left field. I didn't ask anyone to get to know me did I?
Yeah. . .I waited till the last minute too. I got frontish seats but they were behind a pillar which obstructed the view and they were way off to the side. The seats at the front of the balcony were the same price so I'm wondering if I should have got those. I procrastinated getting the tickets also because I'm broke. . .but alas I said to myself, "It's Mariza." It's worth the overdraft in the bank account." HEEE!

I was there also! Oh my goodness, I can't even comment on how amazing it was. You could FEEL the emotion in the hall. I can't speak for every immigrant, but for me it was like having a piece of Portugal that night, and it was deeply emotional. I was worried she wasn't going to sing "O gente da minha terra" haha. But she is wonderful. A joy to listen to.

I was there also! Oh my goodness, I can't even comment on how amazing it was. You could FEEL the emotion in the hall. I can't speak for every immigrant, but for me it was like having a piece of Portugal that night, and it was deeply emotional. I was worried she wasn't going to sing "O gente da minha terra" haha. But she is wonderful. A joy to listen to.
