  • Have you ever shot this over a chrony? I ask because the VP supposedly uses the "blow by" method of reducing chamber pressure since it's a simple blowback action (the rifling is deep enough to allow some of the propellent gas to slip past the bullet on the way down the barrel). This method obviously reduces bullet velocity as well. I'm just wondering how much slower a given load would go out of this gun as opposed to a more typical locked breech pistol.

  • I was told this was the first polymer pistol. Does it shoot well? Is it reliable? Is it accurate?

Good video. You are holding a part of history.

  • Would you have gunsmith work on this gun to lighten trigger?

If it did have a fixed trigger, do you think it would have been more successful?

  • "Space gun, look at it... great"

  • I think a VP70 would be a good weapon for one to exercise their finger with. Lots of ammo and a pretty heavy trigger pull. It`s a shame production stopped on them though, they were pretty interesting firearms

  • its a good gun for selfdefence?

    iam thinking on buying one...

    what do u think?

    thanks man!!!

  • Thank u for this Video man. I've Looked All Over You Tube for Videos on the HK VP70 and the HK P9S. There are Virtually None on the P9S and urs is 1 of the Very Few that I could Find on the VP70. lol Although I have No Idea why. I mean, Its a Great Gun. I Wish there More Reviews on it. I just Recently got my Hand Gun License and am Lookin to Collect Quite a Few. lol The 1st Gun I Purchased was the Glock 19, a Very Good Gun in my Opinion. But yeah, the HK VP70 is 1 of the Others that I'd Like.

  • By the way I have to ask is the Trigger pull is heavy as people say it is? I've heard quite a bit that the VP70 and the VP70Z have about a 17 lbs. Trigger pull. If that's true let me know. And also is the handgun itself worth getting for a concealed carry use? Because I was looking into an H&K USP Compact .40 S&W because I'm huge H&K fan but I would like to look into this but i need an actual owners input. I even own a lot of the knives. But comment back and let me know please.

  • @GameChallenges

Trigger pull is excessive. It squeezes back to a point then stops. I would aim, squeeze til the stop, then steady and finish the squeeze. It is not so bad. After a rapid fire session it tires your finger. VP70 is huge and heavy, not a CC pistol at all. Larger than a Glock 21 or a 1911 fullsize.

  • @PAINTANK cAN THESE GUNS HANDLE ALL TYPES OF 9MM AMMO?hOLLOW POINTS,+P ROUNDS,ECT?

  • @glock1963

It shoots anything I have put through it without fail. For an old gun it still feels solid.

  • @GameChallenges: PAINTANK is right on the money with his comments. I agree 100%. THIS IS NOT A CONCEALED CARRY WEAPON. Rest assured. Get yourself a Smith&Wesson 38 Special+P 5 shot hammerless airweight revolver to CC. IMO.

  • @PAINTANK when did you get this gun?

  • @alucardismaster

Local gunshop. Cheaper than youd think.

  • were can i buy that its a interesting gun

  • Nice pistol. Personally, I prefer the .45 caliber 1911, but that's just me.

  • Does the ended production in the 80's make this handgun hard to come by? Or did they start making it again for civilians to purchase?

  • Hey man im having a problem putting it back the bar does not click all the way back up only goes up a slight click? any suggestions or this happen to you?

  • Hey, HEY! Don't get all persnippity with me! I can ask whatever I want! ..So why dont you make a video showing you shooting it like a machine gun?

  • Good video, teaches you how to field strip. but alittle dangerous ....

i dont know if the magazines had any rounds in them, at 2:50 he places the magazine in, then he cocks the gun and goes directly to talking about how heavy the trigger is and PULLS on the freaking trigger... WTF! im glad you didnt shoot yourself in your hand cuz then it would be hard for you to use a computer and i would have never learned to field strip my gun. lol

  • @mikeizlehizle

All mags were empty. LOL who can afford bullets? Thats why I made the video, can't shoot the darned thing...might as well show folks how to strip it!

It holds 18 in the magazine, getting expensive to feed.

  • @mikeizlehizle , you can cock a semi auto and pull the trigger but it wont fire unless it has a round chambered in the pipe.,but he was pretty reckless with that gun. that pistol is double action only so you cannot really cock it to shoot in single action. Anyway, he violates every single gun safety rule i know of.

  • COLONIAL MARINES<3

  • haha don't forget about Leon S. Kennedy.

  • @xxBleedxxLikexxMexx

Why the hell was this a police department gun? The t-virus started in 1997, and HK ended production on this gun in the 80's!!

    Shame on you Capcom!

  • @TheMango121 Haha I know right. I have wondered the same thing myself. Maybe Capcom just liked the way it looked? XD

  • @TheMango121 There is a lot of skepticism about that for that very reason. It is believed that the Browning HP was the RPD's service pistol, and that they were phasing it out and planning switching over to the 92fs, which would be why that was the issued weapon for the S.T.A.R.S Team. Likewise, however, It is also noted that because Leon was seen carrying the VP70 that the gun would be the new issued weapon for the RPD because of a need for a larger magazine capacity. Regardless GREAT GUN!!

  • it seems to be based off the PPK, instead of the trigger guard coming down, theres a alittle thing to pull down. the select fire version of this might be fun to get, does it have a last round hold open?

  • No last round hold open which is something I wish it had. It uses a striker system(hammerless) so functionally it is more similar to a Glock but visually it is closer to the PPK. This pistol is quite large too.

  • is there anyway to lock the slide back? I'm planning on getting a glock for my first handgun but this looks like a fun toy to get afterwards sometime.

  • and is the mag release american or european style?

  • No way to lock the slide back unfortunately. That is my one beef with this handgun. The mag release in European style in the base of the grip. The button behind the trigger is the safety. These pistols also have an extremely heavy trigger pull. Something like 14 pounds I believe. Get the Glock for defense.

  • space gun! teehee!

  • Tell me PAINTANK, how hard was it to find that VP70 and how much did it cost?

  • This one was under $300 which is highly unusual. Most typically run about $500. I have no idea why this one was so inexpensive but I jumped on it fast. This is my second VP70 also, the first one was $465 way back in 1997. I've had this one for a decade and it is well used and fun to shoot.

  • i love this gun

  • The glock fanboys don't admit this but the vp70 was the first polymer framed pistols. Not the glock.

  • Even the Glock website is in denial!

  • maybe glock is saying they were the first SUCESSFUL poly pistol, or they are just being arrogant.

  • @PAINTANK amn what a bunch of assholes

  • Glocks are my favorite poly pistol yet i know this was the first poly pistol.

  • Nice gun. 5 stars.

  • Attention passengers, the manly ship has SKYROCKETED INTO THE MEAT GALAXY

  • Nice pimpgun, GL.

    - Pat

  • What state do you live in?

  • Denial.

  • It worked this time!
