He's really old now, but Rickles is probably the greatest talk show guest and spontaneous performer there's ever been. He just freely associates and usually he's hilarious. He shows up w/o obviously plugging anything and is never boring.

Hehe, the joke was on the audience on the Obama joke. The audience was prejudice and ASSUMED Rickles meant Obama played basketball because he is black, so they gasped. But the fact is Obama really loves to play basketball, but the audience first response was to avoid to laugh because they THOUGHT it was rascist. Funny

Rickles is the last of the old time comedians - before everything was politically correct (do a search on celebrity roasts). Old people tend to get away with saying what the rest of us couldn't. So that in itself is hilarious to watch. And him being stuck in the old style of comedy isn't just part of his act, it's part of his charm.

Rickles is a funny guy. But one thing I don't care for is that his humor is based mostly on insider jokes about old celebrities who had gone by. A younger viewer like myself don't really get what's funny about these Sinatra stories that he always tell. He's really never updated his style to today's comedy landscape, as exemplified by his very awkward Obama joke.
